  • Pooley Bridge - you’ll need to explore this bustling little village, and if you’re a hiker this is a gateway to everywhere on Ullswater, thanks to the ferry service here. For water sports enthusiasts along with everyone else mentioned, you’ll just need to study & listen to the history and hints given throughout this film.
Our apologies for any duplication of film clips, but we have a lot to describe & explain here. Hope all viewers find, see or hear something of interest here!
Tell us in the comments below, what you would like us to give more coverage to please :-)
The Pier alone, can consume all of a divers air as he /she happily searches around each of the hundred? or so pier supports, with fish darting about wondering what this big black invader is doing in my home (Late evening / night time dive when ferries are not running!).
Divers head off from here because of the simplicity of setting up the compass straight up the lake, with 90 degs left and your heading into the yacht moorings, 90 degs right and its into a rocky shoreline with fish hunting around in the short weed grass, or do a reciprocal back to home.
There is a rotating current here, and that can lead to some confusion as to your direction down under - trust your compass and be aware that the return trip will be messed up with silt clouds.
For local divers, its all about exploring this 'vast area', and discovering what lies beneath the silt as is the case everywhere in the Lake District. The lake bed hides many ancient secrets from the Victorian era, so lure of finding items now being rediscovered years later, and of value to collectors is strong. More on this during the film.
