    Diorama is a truly genius piece of work. Not for everyone though admittedly.

    I'm laughing trying to figure out if David is falling asleep less than a minute into the song. I will say, I did not care for Silverchair when they first came onto the scene as a trio of Australian teens. However, each subsequent album got better and better. Diorama is a great album overall, and I recall comparisons to Brian Wilson's work, but Tuna In The Brine is a bit of a left-field tune that most will either love or hate. I find it an interesting piece, especially in the context of something like "Tomorrow," which, at the time of first listen, just blew my mind that it was the same band. Like it or not, it demonstrated tremendous growth.

    One of those tracks that fits perfectly within the context of the album, but by itself isn't easy to take in. (I love this song and this album, but by itself out of context, it just seems like an excerpt more than a full song)

    Among many things I love about your channel, I love that you can give an objectively good score to a song you just don't personally enjoy at all.

    Why this song? Who requested this? It doesn't really work as well in isolation.
    You should go for Across The Night, The Lever, The Greatest View, or One Way Mule.

    man patreon is letting us down with these requests. so many good silverchair songs and they picked tuna in the damn brine?! In fact I personally wouldn't choose any of the silverchair songs you've reacted to on the channel if I was introducing someone to them for the first time. like what about the greatest view, across the night, if you keep losing sleep, reflections of a sound?!?!
    so unfortunate haha oh well. love the channel

    I totally agree with you here about the unoriginality of the whole symphany backing. Infact, I'll take it a step further and say that the symphony music backing in itself is unorginal for symphany backed music. Maybe because I cant stand musicals for movies or plays makes me more inclined to dislike it, but it just sounds like such a boring generic musical. It's good for a band to explore, but it's better for a rock band to have an unorginal rock song that at least grooves and rocks than to be unoriginal while not rocking.

    • @ManoMonikas
      @ManoMonikas 28 дней назад +2

      The point is that at this point in their career they did not have to make anything special, just another grunge rock album and fans would loved that. Instead they decided to make almost every song way more complicated than they ever did. Orchestration is really good in here. I admit that it sounds like musical so it is not for everyone. So i can't agree of being unoriginal. They sounded absolutely original in this album. If you listen to all the parts and how many things are happening those are very complex songs in the album. So yes they could just made two chord basic riff rock song screaming in one week and call it a day. My point is that you may not like the music, but they put crazy amount of effort into this compared to other rock bands of their time, so give it at least a little bit of respect :)
