  • If you've read Isabella Tree's fabulous book, WILDING, then you already know about Knepp Estate and it's 3500 acre wilding project. My hubby Ian and I visited in Sept 2019 and fell in love with the wild English Longhorn cattle. We also had some interesting conversations with locals who are still upset about the shift from conventional dairy farm to wildland project. Come join us for a tour...

    It’s amazing because this is the only place in Britain where you can see native and endangered white storks as well as our critically endangered turtle doves. I would love to visit there when lockdowns over

      @@Kingsaxxy3872 turtle doves can be found in many areas of the UK though are most common around the south of England. Knepp estate is one of the few places where their populations are increasing though. White storks are only breeding in Knepp as far as I’m aware

    Maybe the land is transitioning between just plain grass and new vegetation/biodiversity (recovering) ? I think it looks way better now + indeed, if only we would listen to animals.

    I get not seeing small trail markers. It took me over a year as a new weekly hiker to get used to looking for and finding them. Loved this video it was very interesting and surprisingly relaxing.

      Good point! So land owners need to have systems in place, or alternate signage if they get a lot of first-time visitors, or their habitat is sensitive to intrusion. For me, it wasn't just that the signs were small, but that they were angled to "point" towards the vegetation, not the path, that was confusing. Well, who knows, perhaps by now they have improved things ;)

      Yes, the signs are inane: They should be large, visible and clear with their message.

    visited and never got lost, it's quite clear on their website that there are areas where the safari goes which resemble paths but are not actually footpaths. Maps are available on their website and are given out if you park in their parking area (which they request you do), which has the colour routes clearly marked out. I thought it was quite obvious when walking that the little green signs meant do not go down certain routes/paths.

  • @kailand3056
    @kailand3056 3 года назад +3

    I agree that their signage is confusing! Does their website provide any guidance or, even better, a map of the property? The owners obviously know this information and, since they allow the public access, it should be readily available rather than guessing game.

    • @ListenToYourHorse
      @ListenToYourHorse  3 года назад +3

      Yes their website now has a downloadable map! Our visit was impromptu though and not sure if the map was there last year or not...

    Sounds like to sum up all the beautiful living beings I'm going to just say mother nature. But sounds to me like mother nature is so clever and her machinations. You know she set this whole thing up that land was probably ready to receive some stress-free time for growth and evolution of its own right again I'm struggling to find my words but I'm so inspired by this by everything you do anyways thank you so much for this this is just more profound critical thinking inspiration delivered to us in the most beautiful package. Seeing Jini in any neck of woods, foliage and with animals is a peaceful lesson for feeling out what all this means. Thank you thank you the words just don't seem to capture what I feel but I know there are others that agree. XO 🥰 thank you!

    Jenny you're amazing! Everything I learned from you about the land and the animals balancing that space and all that that entails it's just priceless. on some level you have helped me change and improve my life for the better and you're continuing to do so period when I see your videos and my notifications oh my goodness I just get a warmth all over it's like comparable to how I feel when you know I'm going to pray or something LOL. I wish that lady knew how lucky she was and that she had such a golden opportunity to pick your brain period my goodness you instantly knew how to improve it and you did it not like I know it all but just so loving and caring about the animals and the humans. I don't know my gut just tells me that focusing on the positive and all this is easy peasy so I don't mean to sound negative I'm not I guess I just get to where I like to point things out and I'm also questioning? Did that lady realize that she had someone there that in 5 minutes flat could probably imagine the two heads put together that's what I should say how about that! LOL okay this is my second time replying because I leave such long comments but the first one was better lol lol. Please just know how life-changing beautiful honorable everything I just respect you so much and appreciate you and thank you oh and by the way I love it when that gorgeous wild cow was coming through and you made the comment how when we move we're just being considerate good people who are trustworthy and respectful gosh I love that I mean I just love that okay sorry I'm going now LOL just so inspirational....(truly sorry for my long comments! 🥰✨😁)

      Awww thanks Liane! And I enjoy your long comments :) You're so welcome and I agree, those cows were just amazing and SO GORGEOUS!! Did you notice how the first cow through the tree tunnel (the mama) eyed me but was more bold than the youngster, who actually needed me to back up and get behind the path entrance before he felt safe enough to cross. SO ADORABLE!!!

      @@ListenToYourHorse yes! One thing I have learned from you is how to be more acutely aware and without that I wouldn't possibly be able to even begin a communication with my animals honestly that is so profound isn't it and every time I see you or your videos or anything I get a Cheeto smile I just thought I'd let you know LOL and honestly I don't know if I've ever seen more beautiful cows. I can remember on a farm that I lived on there was just one particular calf and I don't know if there was something wrong with its jeans but to me it was absolutely stunning it was 100% healthy but it had like a lavenderish kind of hue to its coat and honestly you couldn't call it brown black or white you really did they used to call in the purple cow LOL but he was actually just a very very very light lavender have you ever heard of that? And I'm so glad that I can remember that and I remember it loved me to death it used to swallow my long hair all the way down its throat and I would have to literally pull my hair out of his mouth out of his throat LOL and people will get so grossed out and I would be laughing I was a little grossed out but mostly I was like good Lord because it happened so fast but it was because he was an excited little guy he was he was more like a great big puppy to be honest with you LOL if I come up to the fence he come running just like a little dog no one could hardly believe how he acted like that and I'm actually right now just remembering & that I'm always so deeply grateful to be aware of the deep meaningfulness...xo

    in general these lessons from animals can teach us how to interact with each other in a more healthy way because we are so verbal we no longer know how to communicate properly via body language and the ones who kinda do use it to manipulate people in horrific ways
