The house was filled with "sweating" TNT. They literally had no choice but to detonate the house. The news articles say that there was either TNT or other explosive material all over the house.

Then two CASES of unstable old dynamite was discovered. A bomb squad handled the controlled explosion. They did take precautions (as indicated by the homeowner in a different news article)but damage to other houses, due to proximity, wasn't completely avoidable.
And the owner of the exploded house had a gofundme that was very lucrative following this event. It helped her overcome the loss.

It can be stabilized though. Just takes a specialist for that vs DETONATING 33lbs of explosives in a residential house.

People in the Comments: I would just move those explosives and it would be fine.
Wile E. Coyote: That’s not gonna work.

Fire department: This house is chock full of dangerous and explosive chemicals.
Also Fire department: Lets use explosives to get rid of the highly explosive chemicals

Was it the fire dept that set off dynamite? Or was it a company that does demolition?

It was the bomb squad. They are trained on explosives and know about old TNT.

@@db11750 Right, you're probably much more qualified to handle a home packed with old unstable explosives, right? You clearly know better.

@jack23325 well let's see I've delt with dud fireworks.... also common sense would tell me soaked tnt won't explode... but if I'm wrong I will consult people I actually know that have worked with dynamite instead of cowering to the government... but hey if you wanna be a slave to society go ahead I'll see ya in the bread lines

However I know people who have worked with this stuff before and I doubt they would blow up there house over it..... you just want government to solve all your problems watch how well that goes bud...

How ignorant is that to blow up a house right next to another house occupied by residents? I did this to my own home I would be thrown in jail, but the government once again can do whatever they want without repercussions. Brain dead fire department are only some of the people to blame
