- So I wasn't going to do much by way of decorating this year. And then I changed my mind. Join me as I pick out a whole tree and we decorate it together! Also let's open some Advent Calendars and talk about how to know if you're doing too much this holiday season - and what to do to reset.

Thanks for sharing Jen. It's so different yet similar to the things we do in Australia. Yesterday was 42/107! The hottest day in Sydney for 4 years. It was too hot to go in the pool between 10 and 4 and the pool water was warm! Our Christmas trees cool us down rather than making the space cosy. As you may be imagining, we are planning cold food for Christmas lunch as the last thing we want is to warm up the kitchen. All the adults are hoping for a wet Christmas Day as it will be cooler and the children aren't wanting to be outside in the heat riding their new bikes or skateboards, etc. Enjoy your trip

I haven’t got any decorations up yet…long story short my husband decided to redo his tropical fish tank and the water needs settling time…but the temporary one with fish in is in my tree position! We always have a real tree and wreath..
We have cancelled some things…we’re shattered already with 4 grandchildren 2-13… and the oldest is in hospital permanently with cancer at the moment we just had to rearrange things…
It’s important to take care of us ( hubby and I) as well as the rest of the family….your quite right Jen..

Beautifully done, Jen. Something I do: go where Christmas trees are sold and ask for free fallen branches to scatter around the house, pine air freshener and candles. Love the smell. Safe travels, have fun.

LOL. You got an extra tree and I’m considering not doing a tree this year. We get a live Christmas tree every year. I’ve considered an artificial tree, but I really don’t have a good place to store one. We haven’t gotten our tree, yet. I don’t think it will happen this weekend or during the week. That leaves next weekend. A week before Christmas, and it just doesn’t seem worth it. It’s just my husband and our 25-year old son. I’m thinking I’ll just do our mantle. We also have a very small artificial tree (about 2’ tall) that I can decorate and put on the breakfast bar between the kitchen and living room. This is beginning to feel like the year that we bought the tree and put on the lights, but I never decorated it. And you know what? It was still great and a heck of a lot easier. Merry Christmas and congrats to your niece.

Yes, yes, to pairing down. So much was going on, between Lois having pneumonia, Joey with his CHF and my quick trip to Orlando, we just did a simple decorate and we're doing what we can and it will be good. Scooby looks quite dapper in his sweater.

Totally agree about front gate. A little more affordable and extremely well made and full - grandin road.
Their greenery is my go to - and they last forever. Well. Have had for 3 yrs now and like new. Store in their storage bags that actually hang in my attic.
