@@hardgraf Seems two cyclists at ok but you get 5/6 they just take over the road (usually winding country roads where passing is not easy at any time) and give to attempt to pull in to let cars pass. I love cycling, but I go out alone.
They are advised to do so because it’s safer for them and for yourself.

Hi, I'm a lycra clad cyclist of 70 years of age. Been cycling for over 40 years now. I stick to riding country roads only and I am always polite and courteous to other road users. Most serious cyclists are like me though unfortunately you do get the odd smeg-head like the one I saw the other day riding in the middle of the road holding up a line of cars and not singling out behind his companion when the way was otherwise clear! It just makes it look bad for the rest of us. Very annoying. I like Laurence, I like the way he talks about a lot of issues, but he's not being very fair with this one though.

As someone who cycles on and off the streets of Britain, I approve of the term '2 wheeled road fascists'.
Totally agree with him I have a bike its not people who own bikes its lycra cyclist fascists who think they own roads, saving the planet, I remember walking in Birmingham you have to jump out out of the way as a pedestrian, they think their rules are better than anyone else, no need to wear lycra they arent in a velodrome fhs. Loads of cycle lanes built and virtually 3 cyclists on them. Actually they arent cyclists they are bike riders cyclists are professionals who ride velodromes. They should concentrate on improving the bus services rather than cycle lanes which is the main reason people use cars in West Midlands
I got hit by a cyclist in London. He stopped and apologised and that was fine. But I witnessed a guy screaming at people to get out of his way and made no attempt to slow down and ploughed down a woman and then did not stop. He should have been arrested in my opinion. But there are a lot of these shouty nasty people on bicycles. Why do you need to put on specialist clothing to get to work. Totally mental. I cycle to work a lot but I don't feel the need to wear professional cycling clothing. I don't even wear a helmet because I travel at about 6mph.

As a cyclist myself, I couldn’t agree with him more. Too many stupid psychos out there in their absurd lycra barging everyone out of the way. The last time this happened to me, my aggressor “accidentally” fell off his bike at 20 miles an hour. Bullies of any kind are right at the top of my shit-list, and two-wheeled bullies are potentially the most dangerous and have to be stopped! 🤬

I have always maintained that there's a close correlation between randomly negative opinions about cyclists and ill thought out, reactionary right wing views. I suppose it helps too to have a stagnant acting career, too much money and a habit of binge watching Count Dankula videos...

Don't really watch either of those youtubers tbh. Only video from Hbomberguy's I've seen is his video on Sherlock which I enjoyed (hate that show). I don't enjoy watching political commentary much nowadays but when I do it's all over the place - GB News (I actually quite like hearing what Alistair Stewart and gusts like Peter Hitchens, David Starkey have to say, but dislike many of their hosts... it's actually where I first came across Lawrence Fox during an interview where he was drunk and rambling), Novara Media (they're openly communists and I tend to disagree with them on a lot, but there is some overlap with certain views I have...), Breaking Points in the US etc.

Anyone who has done any daily cycling over a reasonable distance knows why cyclists wear lycra. I used to ride 6 miles each way to work on a daily basis (I know a lot of people do more than that), and I can give two very good reasons. First, if you are going even a couple of miles at a decent pace, especially on a warm day, you cannot wear those clothes through work for the rest of the day. You smell awful and feel dirty and disgusting. Second, you will find that you very quickly split normal trousers in the crotch, partly because of constant chafing; partly because the position you are sitting pulls the material taut over the saddle and snaps it; and partly because lifting your leg over onto the bike splits the material in the process. It happens gradually but after losing a few pairs of trousers you learn your lesson. And these are jeans I'm talking about, you can forget cycling in an expensive suit. Regular trousers may be fine for a day at centre parcs, but not on a daily basis.
So the only option is to have clothes just for cycling in. At that point you may as well pick ones that last. The only material that doesn't chafe and is elasticated enough to not split is lycra. It's not about looking like Lance Armstrong. I got through several pairs of jogging bottoms over a year or so because I refused to 'look like a cyclist' and wear lycra and thought they were the best alternative.

Last year I cycled a 275 miles trip in France, wearing cotton trousers and cotton T-shirt. Comfortable, and I didn’t look like silly pretentious person. I suppose my front and rear panniers and camping kit detracted from my looking like a superhero, but please don’t confuse me with someone who gives a fuck.

I've become an admirer of Laurence Fox for his stance on everything woke, but i guess it's not possible to agree with anyone on everything. Wearing cycle-specific clothing is no different from horse riders wearing the gear that's appropriate for that activity.

I don’t ride a horse, but if I did, I would not be impressed with some boy racer screaming by with maybe 3 inches to spare causing me to be thrown.
@@Johnny-sj9sj .. You are right. I do ride a horse, and there is nothing worse than a bike coming up behind you at speed and overtaking, because they are quiet as they approach and in the horse's blind spot. They can cause the horse to bolt. I am lucky that people are pretty decent where I live.

Most of the lycra fascists have cars, one of them didnt even have a clue on regular bus users who have disabilities or elderly etc who struggle to get around but they want to plough all the money into cycle lanes 🤦♂️
