Who else feels everyone should be given one of these as a kid? Someone to play with and play games with, you will grow up with him and you will live your life with him; it would help childhood obesity and it would be awesome to have a robot at the same time!
Believe it or not, this little guy is doing some amazing things! He's revolutionizing the way we think of bipedal motion and electronics! Once they figure out the AI, imagine the possibilities of using ASIMO not only in private home use, but public office use, educational use, and even entertaining purposes! Maybe even in a theme park setting! ASIMO opens the door to another world of opportunities!
This is amazing. It still amazes me that we humans were put here with seemingly nothing more than our minds (yes, and opposing thumbs :), basic natural minerals and time and from that we have made such incredible things. Simply amazing. Well done Honda!!!
Asimo can run, Asimo can walk. He can hold people's hands, he can exercise, and he can push stuff as well! He can also be your waiter if told to. But what people didn't know is that Asimo could be quite temperamental and can easily go into maniacal fits of 'Rage' that can kill many people if they are in range. Yes kids, Robots CAN go insane if you push the wrong buttons. (pun intended)
It's really quite impressive that they've gotten this far with Asimo. Although we probably would have been even farther by now if humans weren't so greedy or fearful of stupid things. I hope Asimo becomes part of society in the future, it would bring new innovation into the world.
Impressive indeed. It's fun to watch how the foot has to accelerate upward before it hits the ground in order to keep those impact forces from tearing up the motors. Should be fun to see it run when it doesn't know the precise location of the ground. Still definitely great work.
is it radio-operated, or is it equipped with some kind of recognization program which enables it to know when somebody is calling it, or to feel that someone is touching it?
what sets ASIMO apart from the other robots? How is it able to walk so fast in a fluid motion without tipping over? I notice that the robots torso lowers itself closer to the ground. This is to lower the center of gravity right? theres also gotta be something in those legs that makes the movements very fluid. Ive seen some other robots where the leg movements are pretty violent while even at slow walking speeds.
do you have t program every individual movement or does it have specific programs that controll the whole body? if i don't have to program it, i want one to use as a buttler :) if not, then work on tjust a little bit more, and i'll just watch
Um, curious why does a robot need to "exercise"? is this to like work the dust and crud out of their joints? or for demonstration/educational purposes? I was hoping it could demonstrate Karate moves? It is cute watching it bow when completing task (Japanese culture. Would that Americans could be so courteous.). Are the robots taught what to do if they come up on a human not expecting to see a robot, and human screams/ faints/clobbers the robot ? Do they have a way to alert the handlers?
Asimo is excellent for handicap people, his hand movements are really extraordinary, the only problem that complicates Asimo's movement is his chest and back, which he seems to be holding a back pack and that complicates even a human being to move properly, he needs a flexible back that bends just like a vertebrate does and an abdomen that can flex in to move correctly also he needs to be a little taller, I really like Asimo he is awesome, Asimo es lo Maximo!!.
This is a major improvement on the first generation which I saw roughly over 10 years ago by honda or was it toyota. I can't remember specifically. It's just a matter of time before robots take over the world.
I have a question, if they sell this thing to consumers, and someone tries to steal it, will they program it to fight back? Cause that would just be awesome.
@5macklins It's not meant for the military. It's meant for the use of the elderly and they physically impaired. Sure u cud use it for fire fighting and disarming bombs, but that's all u can do for military use.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the last generation to go and play outside and not be overly influenced by technology and gadgets is the one before yours.. and that's only because all that technology didn't exist. I still remember when having a computer in your house was a brand new idea... whereas you cannot picture living without one. And nowadays neither can anyone else. Now that i got that off my chest... This robot is amazing!! haha How long before robot boxing?! Cause im there!
After all these years of obsessing with robots looks like the Japanese have finally made it!! This thing looks like the beginning of an Sci-Fi movie!!!!
How soon before asimo is built using 3d printers that can self replicate him (it) and fit a laser gun on his shoulder to make an army??...How easy would it be to programme him into a killing machine?. Or does Isamov rules apply?.
i know it would be tough, but the engineers should try to find a way to make Asimo able to feel (as in sense of touch) that way Asimo could memorize surfaces and what not. Im no expert but that would be cool imo
@raininthespringtime which one? the older one where Asimo kept watching the audience instead of paying attention to where it was going and it fell down off the stairs.... ooopsie daisy. it could happen to any of us!!
Maan. i cant say anithing else that this is cool and exiting.! just 25 years ago this was not possible and see now there is ASIMO so human like movements Who knows maybe in near future there is going to be able to purchase a Asimo robot for home purpose as a home assistant ? I would like to own one of these robots to help me around home, that could be great.! immagine when you are tired coming home from work, then you have Asimo to serv dinner, pick a cold beer from fridge ?
imagine this little robot running around armed with rifle and looking for a target thinking its his assigned meal, while other people are all happy taking pictures saying how cute it is thinking is just part of his little routine to run around all jolly like with a nurf gun suddenly the robot pissed off at all the noise and laughter turns around and starts locking in to targets and shooting indiscriminately and keeps running jolly like it never happened.never know what might happen in the future
Eventually robots will be fighting wars, helping moving nuclear material, go to another planet as a Robo-astronaut, and so many other functions. 20-30 year time frame judging from ASIMO is a realistic timeframe.
Step 1. Teach to run. Step 2. Teach to wear body armor . Step 3. Teach to use a pistol. Step 4. Teach to use AK47. Step 5 . Teach to drive armored car. Step 6. Teach to drive tank. Step 7. Teach to recognize enemy troops. Step 8. Teach to use grenade. Step 9. Teach to use mortar. Step 10. Deploy. Ten steps to make an ASIMO robot battle- ready.
@MrDonkeyKosh Yeah it looks like it, actually they're demonstrating all its different ranges of motion to show its much more flexible than the average robot. Just saying
Asimo was named after Isaac Asimov, the Science Fiction writer who pioneered stories of humaoid Robots in his series of stories, Robby the Robot, The Caves of Steel, and The Naked Sun. R. (robot) Daniel Olivaw, and R. Giskard were two well known Robots in his stories. Asimo is more like a very early version of Robby the Robot.
one of the hardest things about smart robots is to figure out how much programming you should give them.because if there going to be helping the elderly then it needs a fairly advanced set of parameters to be able to be useful in all situations.it would need to have the ability to adapt to new stimuli..and there is crux and the issue..do we want smart adaptable robots made by corporations who also make weapons?..( as i understand it, Honda does not make weapons, but there not the only ones in RD)
work of art. Now only the neural interface and the corresponding memory has a capacity of personality and life-long accumulated knowledge. That refers to a kind of immortality. Well, I probably will not live anymore
Asimo does reflect human behavior--he got a girl friend, then started to work out and got a couple of part time jobs(pushing the cart and delivering coffee).lol.
@Albylion well if this hadn't been done, more advanced robots couldn't have been developed because there wouldn't have been anything to expand or build on.
When will there be a new version of Asimo? Are they still working on it? did they give up on Asimo cause they failed to make any more upgrades. Or did they stop working on Asimo cause they are scared that Asimo will gain intelligent AI, and then Asimo robots will turn against humans and take over the world?
Imagine they mass produce very advanced versions of asimo; a taller, faster and agile variant. Also, a lot cleverer. Then, one night, the workers hear a noise coming from the new asimo storage room. They go down and see a huge hole in the wall.
She has a robo boy friend. He will never get drunk. He will never hit her. He will never be not nice to her. A perfect boy friend?
Who else feels everyone should be given one of these as a kid? Someone to play with and play games with, you will grow up with him and you will live your life with him; it would help childhood obesity and it would be awesome to have a robot at the same time!

I saw asimo live at disneyland a year ago. This little guy is so cool. Developed by honda. Hopefully the next civic can run too..
This is amazing.
It still amazes me that we humans were put here with seemingly nothing more than our minds (yes, and opposing thumbs :), basic natural minerals and time and
from that we have made such incredible things.

راااااااااااااااااائع
كم هم مذهلون هؤلاء اليابانيون ^_^
كل يوم يزيد احترامى لهم حينما أرى المزيد و المزيد من ابداعاتهم .
It's really quite impressive that they've gotten this far with Asimo. Although we probably would have been even farther by now if humans weren't so greedy or fearful of stupid things. I hope Asimo becomes part of society in the future, it would bring new innovation into the world.

Damn, it moves in awesomely realistic way (for a robot of course) and it work independently! Will honda sell asimo? I would like to have one :P
Quite impressive! Is someone controlling it or does these things on its own?
We know they've really perfected walking androids when they no longer look like they are about to crap their pants.
is it radio-operated, or is it equipped with some kind of recognization program which enables it to know when somebody is calling it, or to feel that someone is touching it?
I would LOVE one of these in the future, and I DON'T mean to boss around and bully, I mean, it's so cool!! I love it!

asimo единственный робот, который красиво выглядит, и очень умный, похож на настоящего человека, странно, как их еще не продают в магазинах !?
do you have t program every individual movement
or does it have specific programs that controll the whole body?
if i don't have to program it, i want one to use as a buttler :)
if not, then work on tjust a little bit more, and i'll just watch
Why... is it so... CUTE?? D: oh God. So this is how they'll get us to trust them.
Well played robot race. Well played...
can it play the piano?
how does it work in space?
can you turn one into a suit a person can pilot with?
He's everywhere, watching everything. Where else? lol
@buckishere It lowers the center of gavity on the robot so it less likey to fall over.
Oh god it's so cute. Would it hurt me if I hug it? How strong is Asimo?
I wonder how hard coded this is. If it lost a leg would it able to adapt?
Asimo is excellent for handicap people, his hand movements are really extraordinary, the only problem that complicates Asimo's movement is his chest and back, which he seems to be holding a back pack and that complicates even a human being to move properly, he needs a flexible back that bends just like a vertebrate does and an abdomen that can flex in to move correctly also he needs to be a little taller, I really like Asimo he is awesome, Asimo es lo Maximo!!.
i wanna be alive in years to come to see what this is like !! its will be so cool proper robots and everyhting WOOOWOWOWOOW!!
@beyondnukez well it needs to a balance control, so for a while, robots are gonna need to do that
This is a major improvement on the first generation which I saw roughly over 10 years ago by honda or was it toyota. I can't remember specifically. It's just a matter of time before robots take over the world.
すごいねぇぇ。。大したもんだ。世界に誇る日本の技術ですね。
I have a question, if they sell this thing to consumers, and someone tries to steal it, will they program it to fight back? Cause that would just be awesome.

@Daemonologist
yes..I've heard that quote before.
can't remember what book it came from now.
is that programmed to do that or is it remote controlled?
@nesbitt615 That is the point of a kill switch. It's not just an off button it is a last resort to destroy them not just decommission them.
After all these years of obsessing with robots looks like the Japanese have finally made it!! This thing looks like the beginning of an Sci-Fi movie!!!!
Doesnt "running" require booth feet to be airborne between every step or something ? ^^
How soon before asimo is built using 3d printers that can self replicate him (it) and fit a laser gun on his shoulder to make an army??...How easy would it be to programme him into a killing machine?. Or does Isamov rules apply?.

@D202116 What makes you think the robots would let us look at youtube videos?
Maan. i cant say anithing else that this is cool and exiting.!
just 25 years ago this was not possible and see now there is ASIMO so human like movements
Who knows maybe in near future there is going to be able to purchase a Asimo robot for home purpose as a home assistant ? @DSievers04 I myself am 14 and am teaching myself coding languages and astronomy, what aged youth are you referring to?
Is this being controlled by someone or is it conrolling it self??
one thing a robot does not need is the physical excersise, the less it does, the longer it'll last.
Why do they have to make them so cute? I would feel sorry for him to have one as a butler!
Will it blend?
imagine this little robot running around armed with rifle and looking for a target thinking its his assigned meal, while other people are all happy taking pictures saying how cute it is thinking is just part of his little routine to run around all jolly like with a nurf gun suddenly the robot pissed off at all the noise and laughter turns around and starts locking in to targets and shooting indiscriminately and keeps running jolly like it never happened.never know what might happen in the future
the way this robot runs is hilarious!!!!
Yes, but will it blend?
Super robot !!!
240p ???
looks like he's pulled..lol seriously though when can you buy one...
so far, i think asimo is the best advanced robot i have ever seen ^-^
Will it count if I use the carpool lane if Asimo is in the passenger seat? lol
So much time has passed, will we ever see robots in our houses?
Eventually robots will be fighting wars, helping moving nuclear material, go to another planet as a Robo-astronaut, and so many other functions. 20-30 year time frame judging from ASIMO is a realistic timeframe.
Yea, but can it hold a tray while running and holding hand?!
The amazing thing is, this was nearly 6 years ago. What have they built now I wonder?
This robot looks pretty amazing.
Asimo could be used to help handicapped people who live alone. There are many possibilities once robots are commercially available and affordable.
@MrDonkeyKosh Yeah it looks like it, actually they're demonstrating all its different ranges of motion to show its much more flexible than the average robot. Just saying
Imagine a war where's just 2 countries battling with robots, and the one with better ones win. :O
Asimo was named after Isaac Asimov, the Science Fiction writer who pioneered stories of humaoid Robots in his series of stories, Robby the Robot, The Caves of Steel, and The Naked Sun. R. now he is running with 9 km\h ASIMO is advancing like hell and I cant wait to buy him in 2030 he will be my best friend he will NEVER let you down :)
Just imagine how much it cost for this robot when they sell it and Nao robot cost $16,000. :P
12 years back my teacher recommended this, but I came to watch in January 2022 😂😂😂
I don't get the "exercise" part...just for fun?
I just imagined this thing running after me at night, down a long alley, with a crazed look spray painted on it's face.
work of art. Now only the neural interface and the corresponding memory has a capacity of personality and life-long accumulated knowledge. That refers to a kind of immortality. Well, I probably will not live anymore
the most difficult thing in life... learning to turn right...GO ASIMO!!
Compairing the level of technoligy from 50 years ago to what we have today... I wonder what the next couple decates will bring.
The walking hand in hand was cute :)
The best video, Asimo is a masterpiece!
Das beste video, Asimo ist eine Meisterleistung!
Where did you see such a robot?
Asimo does reflect human behavior--he got a girl friend, then started to work out
and got a couple of part time jobs(pushing the cart and delivering coffee).lol.
when will we see the robot on the sidewalk. p.s. can the robot drive a car!!!!
remarkable in a few years asimo will be doing the dishes, the laundry, the house massaging my feet :D
I just saw ASIMO in St. Louis!!!
Imagine something like that but newer and improved with built in weapons out to get you! the thing will run without loosing a breath!.
@Krixy123 You cant buy one you have to go to like disneyland to see it in action
God, the last comment was 10 years ago. Where are these robots now?
@Albylion well if this hadn't been done, more advanced robots couldn't have been developed because there wouldn't have been anything to expand or build on.
I love how it lowers its center of gravity before speeding up
He runs like an old jogger, I love how he clenches his little fists
I like how it looked back up at the lady's face after she handed him the tray.
@swedenisthebest02 Of course that's the point. Program the robot so it can do any task you want and nothing else... hopefully.
I wander what would happen if i jump on its back wild its running?
this is 6 years ago, just think of what progress they have made on Osimo, love the Japanese.
but will it blend?
some scientists are still trying to figure out how to make their robots walk, these guys have it runnnnninnng!
it might look simple... but this little dude took 20 years to be done ;)
when can you buy it roughly
I just saw Asimo at my robotics competition, he's very cute, but I wasn't allowed to hug him :(
When will there be a new version of Asimo? Are they still working on it? did they give up on Asimo cause they failed to make any more upgrades. Or did they stop working on Asimo cause they are scared that Asimo will gain intelligent AI, and then Asimo robots will turn against humans and take over the world?
demasiado... no puedo creerlo, que robots llegaremos a conocer...
When I look at that big room he's in, I'm waiting for him to start shooting portals.
I would like a full size one whit a black paint job pleeez :D
Imagine they mass produce very advanced versions of asimo; a taller, faster and agile variant. Also, a lot cleverer. Then, one night, the workers hear a noise coming from the new asimo storage room. They go down and see a huge hole in the wall.
