So this video just randomly popped up on my feed - and I am EXTREMELY grateful. I've been using garage band for years but have always been super annoyed with how limited/tedious it can be. Its like HALF the program is super intuitive, and the other half just makes no fucking sense - so I got ableton live a few years ago and pretty much immediately regretted it. I didn't really know anything about Logic at the time, I had never really looked into it - I got swept up in the exciting youtube videos of people using ableton, so I got that. But I didn't really like it - so I went back to GB. TODAY this video showed up on my feed. Holy crap man... I didn't realize Logic was just like GB - except its not limited and doesn't have the stupid/unintuitive half to deal with. Watching you use Logic while talking about what you're doing/thinking - I could clearly see that Logic fixes ALL the problems I have with GB. I wouldn't have been able to get that information in any other way! I cant thank you enough - I'm buying Logic immediately - and subscribing to you channel.
Once again the best demonstration on the tube!!! I still miss the old drummer with the complexity ball. This version has the manual kick snare option which which helps a ton. Would have been cool if you could have both. These session players are great for ideas. Thank you for showing all of the possibilities!!
They are great, but I don’t really understand how some review channels are losing their minds over all this when arranger keyboards from the likes of Technics and Yamaha had these features 35 years ago, and they could respond in real time to chords being played live from the keyboard not just to chords punched-in beforehand.
The ability to manually create your own drum patterns and choose the side stick (finally!) are very welcomed additions. I'm currently using GB because the last Logic update (11.01) messed up the fills that get created when you split a region with the fills on. The fill before the split and the drums right after the split are way out of time (not always, but often enough to be disruptive). I have a ticket opened with Apple but I'm wondering if you (or anyone) have had this issue? And BTW thanks for all of your GB videos. I've been binge watching them since having to temporarily use GB and they have been invaluable. 🤟
Yes! Agreed. I think they did a really excellent job with the updates to Logic Drummer. I'll definitely be doing a full video on just that in the future. Thank you for the support!
I appreciate that! Definitely different than my more planned out videos, but I felt like it was just a better way to demonstrate some of these features in a more actionable way
The session players are extremely flexible and what's great is one can easily turn their parts into MIDI regions for unlimited control. Almost too much flexibility ;)
It's a good question! My bet is the GarageBand drummer will get these updates in the next big GB update, but they will hold the Key and Bass players for Logic to incentivize people to switch

I'd cut Studio One now for Logic, even before keyboard and bass... it's a great composition and production tool.
Your show's great.👌
Super interesting and helpful. I have played around with these instruments a bit.... but I will definitely be doing more.
Glad you enjoyed it! Excited to hear what you do with them, John
Really nice to watch you think on your "feet" here - thanks so much!

excellent video - thanks very much!
Thank you!

I use session players once and awhile. Maybe to just get ideas.
Pretty cool stuff. I haven't upgraded to 11 yet, but eventually I will. Might be interesting to redo some tunes with the new session players.
Could definitely be interesting! The bass player and new bass guitar plugin definitely impress me
Great video Colin! Do you have any tips on how to create a duplicate version of an existing project in Logic incase you want 2 versions? Thanks again!

How long till this gets added to Garage Band?

I was disappointed the trial does not include the session players.
