    *I think what pisses me off the MOST about this is that drug and alcohol addicts are NOT the only ones who are facing homelessness!!! Senior citizens and the disabled ♿ who do NOT use drugs or alcohol are just as homeless in all of this!! We do not have the income to survive the EXTREMELY high housing costs!! I am a prior resident of Clatsop County. The homeless rate per capita is ASTONISHINGLY HIGH!!! It has been high for many years and has only gotten worse!!!* 🤦‍♀️

Everyone had a 10 or 12 foot they can stand up end..tarping than not blue ( winter must) Would help with have a buffer distance. They said it's a very small area.Agree about home furniture etc. park rules should be enforced.No more than 2 bike/ trailer per person . On good days allow drying of clothes,tarps etc.

They they had sweeps. Before this it rain a solid two weeks. Great PR for the news and volunteers.. Yes no one needs more than 2 bike and trailer per person. I think your points are well-taken, but that is not really the issue with these folks. My take is that they don't want to work and they don't want other people telling them what to do - no compromise. If you were to give them housing, they would trash it in no time. They don't want to give up the drugs, or they are mentally ill. Which came first is hard for us to discern. Not everyone who faces hardship due to jobs/housing ends up in this situation. These folks have probably made a lifetime of bad choices. I do agree that billionaires should be taxed heavily to help pay for some of our social issues for sure.

    I knew some homeless people in Berkeley, and they said they would pick up homed people's litter so they, the homeless, wouldn't be blamed for it. Another would sweep the sidewalk to keep it clean so the store would not shoo them away. The homeless are varied, but as soon as I moved out here I started reading lies and defamation against homeless people. There are all kinds! I talked to a man in a wheelchair. He said he had a tent but it was cold. He called Project Hope at Berkeley Way and they were full. He actually wanted to go to a shelter. This sober man had to sleep outside because all the new apt. buildings in Berkeley, CA are for foreign UCB students and young professionals! A middle class man who has a rent control apt. and a woman in an apt. in downtown Berkeley are both concerned about what if their buildings are sold. The rents here are too high and the competition from the UCB students is too high. There's no way I could afford $1200/mo. for a studio plus utilities plus yearly rent increases. US citizens should get 1st priority for apts. near transit, stores, post office, banks, etc. So don't complain about the homeless! Don't generalize!

    Accountability. No work, no food. Clean up their own campsites working along with city clean up team. Homeless could assist with cooking preparation on site or at the church kitchen. Work for their tents and tarps by volunteering at community centers. Be present when scheduled meals arrive . No round up. These individuals are adults and need to take part in managing their diseases of addictions. They are not children and should not be treated as such. Respect people's property by not stealing from stores, yards,etc. Seek help. Social workers and resources need to be available to those seeking help to heal. Love is a healing balm, but it must be by all.
    Measure 110 has destroyed many lives. Admit it didn't work. Now help people get their self-respect back and work starting keeping their homesite clean,volunteer, attend classes at resource centers,.work is healthy.

    Voluntary compliance for drug rehab has overwhelmingly failed. Until city and county governments accept mandatory compliance as a course of action, the toxic cycle will continue. Working people (businesses, homeowners, renters) are fed up with homeless drug addicts not held responsible for their destructive behavior, while we're being taxed to the hilt. No more enabling.

      If you ask adults to put in some labor for their living costs, like in prison for example, that's "slavery" according to liberals. On the other hand parents can send their minor children to work out in the fields (pulling their kids out of school early each Spring to do it) or for minimum wage in some other job, and take their whole ass paycheck. It's considered "earning your keep". So that's okay, but asking adults to do the same makes them a "slave". Make that make sense.

Anyone with a brain understands what you're saying. It's propaganda to funnel more money into the pockets of professional enablers who get wealthy by not actually fixing anything. It's more profitable to treat the "disease" rather than cure it. Anyone with common sense can see right through that sh*t.

You guys dont know shit. 🤦‍♂️ i was a homeless herion addict for YEARS. Small thinga like a meal or a place to showr/wash clothes never KEPT me homeless and addicted. It helped me in the worst time of my life. I never refused treatment because "well they feed me 1x a day and give me a hug" so i might as well stay homeless. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ ive you've never personally lived it, your opinion means jack shit. Id rather them being fed than having to go steal from a store. Id rather them have some where they can setup a tent than trespassing or ending up in dangerous areas they arnt supposed to be. Yall see nothing but negative. I lived that life and i know 1st hand what helps. A hot meal can make someones day so much better. Its not "enabling". Its decent human courtesy.

But to punish all because of bad actors is not right. Example based on facts. Oregon keeps X amount of every payout like a tax to go to emergency and other needs. So 3 stores (Major) the managers where stealing food stamps from people and getting extra from the government for accepting FS. They were audit warned investigated for over 3 years. They finally took the acceptance of FS from them. Happened again, then again... Finally they charged the mangers and a few others. All was weeks to none in jail. Some transfers and firings, daily over seeing the use of FB by store. Penalties of large amounts if problem came up again.

      @@MUUKOW3 With complete sincerity.. I'm asking, when the minimum wage is so low and rent is so high, along with most Americans living paycheck to paycheck. How can we blame this on stolen bikes and heroin? Not all homeless folks are on drugs and some come to that situation specifically due to the situation they find themselves in (they got hooked on drugs after becoming homeless)

    • @MUUKOW3
      @MUUKOW3 2 дня назад +6

      @erikw2460 Let's see, first of all the minimum wage is what now 15 ,that is a starter wage ,you and a couple buddies can get a place until you build your skills and get better pay . Our daughter literally lives in Portland making just above that ,rents an apartment with a roommate in there 20's doing fine no government subsidies . So your pay and rent is busted granted it is expensive here but it can be done. Living paycheck to paycheck can make one pucker but none of these turn you into a tent druggie ,there are a lot of you people that choose the lifestyle. I don't see near as many old guy hobo types . It's the young druggie or mentally ill . The mentally ill shouldn't be allowed to free range and street lifestyle shouldn't be tolerated. If housing here is too expensive go where it is less expensive. Oh wait we give out all of the goodies here so they all come here which is the other problem .If they are from elsewhere they need to be put back on a bud back out . And also stop the homeless industry the government has turned it into a cash cow and don't want to solve the problem or the cash cow goes away.
