Something funny about The boys show is that 100% agrees with the superman's thesis, Superman is not Superman due to his power but because of his good heart and great upbringing, Vogelbaum said himself, Homelander needed a loving family and someone who taught him right and wrong, instead Vought created a sociopath surrounded by test and torture to find his limits, and now that same sociopath is being told that all the shortcomings of his character are due to someone else's creation, he's a product to Edgar, he's a product to the scientist and for everybody else he's a menace, this is the type of villain you want to see death but can't help to feel pity for him
The craziest thing is that even after being told he was basically made to be the kind of person he is that even with all his superpowers he can't fix his personality flaws anymore then a regular person can, maybe even less so bc of the fact that he's suppose to be the strongest man and most powerful supe in the world.
John should break free of his "Homelander" persona in the finale. That would be the perfect conclusion for his character. This way Homelander dies mentally while John lives free.
everything we knew about vought is that they successfully genetically engineered a human on an absolute superficial level, but we never realised what they did to homelander is also a super engineering on his mental to the point his needs of love is so strong above humanity
My interpretation is that he was looking for a way to make her scared. That's why he left her alive but gutted everyone else in front of her. His reaction when she looked down says it all. "Hm :)". That's when he finally got confirmation that he could make her scared, and that's what he did.
@@Nutbag517 true but let's look at it deeper So She wasn't scared of him, everyone else was, entirely He unalived everyone else and plastered them on the walls and left her alone Only when she realized that she was alone, locked in a room with no way out did she know how homelander felt growing up And she learned why it's called "the bad room"
@@Nutbag517 Exactly this. It's what seems to give him a weird respect towards Butcher, Stan and Sage. Maybe even Annie. People who defy him, who he probably could easily just laser or smack the head off but since they don't fear him, it almost makes him decide against it. The only time he initiated violence against any of them is when they directly posed a threat to him in some large way. Such as lasering Butcher when he found him with Soldier Boy or attacking Annie in the elevator after all the shit with Kimiko's brother/directly disobeying his orders.
Idk if it's intentional or not but when he taunted her with "but you weren't?" And she looked hesitant, HL smiled because he thought he instilled fear into her and then when she stayed calm and kept her composure he looked pissed. Barbara could've actually escape unharmed had she stayed strong but alas fear consumed her at the end
It's ironic how almost every being Homelander killed, could have saved themselves by simply standing up to him. The irony in that is crazy... Even the girl on the building who was gonna jump, I wonder if she could have stood a chance if she simply....stood up to him.. 🤔
Tbf, with someone as strong as HL, who in their right mind would stand up to him? The only ones who have are people who have a good bit of history with him and no fear for the most part. And sides, standing up to him doesn't mean he would spare you. He seems to respect Butch, Stan and Sage because they talk to him as an equal and are not fearful of him. And they're honest with him.
Every season this man(?) has been called a failure and a disappointment by every parental figure in his life. Vogelbaum: You’re my greatest failure Stan Edgar: You are simply bad product Soldier boy: You’re a f’ing dissapointment Doctor (don’t remember her name): We would be disappointed in you
This episode succeeded in making me feel some empathy for homelander for the first time, then quickly spit in my face with the horrible atrocities that he committed afterwards
Homelander could’ve been raised in a nice home with a loving family the way Superman was. Instead, he was raised in an underground lab surrounded by doctors who cooked him in an oven, locked him in what he called the Bad Room, and whatever else they did to him. If he WASN’T raised in a lab, maybe he wouldn’t have done all the really messed up stuff that he’s done throughout the course of the show and all the other stuff he probably did before the events of the show.
This was probably the worst thing to actually happen to Homelander in the entire show. She even smiles about it because she already knows she's toast anyways.
What’s interesting about this scene is how cold, insensitive and inhuman the scientists truly are when she describes the work they did to homelander. It makes him seem so much more innocent.
There's just no way that she'd tell him all of that, because it'd have no benefit to her and would start to undo her power over him. And so look at what happened afterwards. Compelling characterization, bad plotting.

She should have probably stopped at the you couldn't stand the idea of being disappointed because after she revealed that they had therapist to get him to feel this way why wouldn't he kit like lock you up and leave you with a bunch of corpses I mean I would and I don't even think I'd as crazy as Homelander if I found out that one of the people that helped raise me was not only a piece of garbage but also made sure that other people that were supposed to help me were also making me feel like s*** then yeah I probably do the same thing if I was in his position
She said that 'cause she knows about his needs validation and aproval, the only one who can hurt Homelander is himself, by saying that he was not only created by Vault but also controled to be a slave for validation was truly, human. "I'm stronger, I'm smarter, I'm better! I AM BETTER!"
Have you tried using periods? Punctuation? It really helps when writing several sentences. Makes it much easier to read. Am I right? Thanks.
Gosh i had a stroke reading your comment.
That was the longest sentence ever
These grammar kiddos are more unhinged than Homelander lol. Yeah I'd have done the same or worse in his position after having that revealed to me.
Though it is a depressing thought that kiddo Homelander could have freed himself from the torment anytime he wanted to but was manipulated into staying.
That lady is a great actor. She potrayed it so well❤
He respects people that stands up to his Ego
When what they could've done was teach him the solid morals and character he pretends to have.
Oh boy did she regret all of this by the end of the episode
The fact that he left her, but not the others makes her point a fact
This is how career politicians are raised
Guess who the writers/producer/actor are modeling Homelander's real-life counterpart on....Don the Demi-God .
@@KristaErrickson But the entire reason the establishment hates him is that he DOESN'T rely on them. There's only been three US presidents who were able to fund their campaign independently, and all three were hated during their campaigns. I think it's because if you fund your own campaign, you're not in debt. And if you're not in debt, you can't be controlled. Don't have to make and keep promises to get into the oval office.
So Orange Man is one of the few men this ironically doesn't apply to since he only got into politics in his 70s.
Anthony is such a great actor
Homelander learning that he IS fucked up, and it was intentionally done to him. He was wounded in the only place he isn't night invulnerable -- his mind. His biggest weakness.
She really thought she was Stan Edgar
I mean he did spare her in the end lol.
@@promeneuzivotu117 not exactly sparing her if shes locked in a room forever...
She didn't?
@@violet_7808 she was trying to play power moves on homelander but it put her in a living grave
@@LawnXMowerXGaming Bro she was gonna die like everyone else, if anything, she ensured her survival, y'all are so weird against woman characters.
I wouldn’t have spelled it out for him, you’re hardening him against his weakness
Bro was cooked from the start
Figuratively and literally, literally threw blud in the oven
"Greatest success" he is at your throat and sees people as red and black ants. Sure he wants love, but doesn't matter if they love him while he destroys his enemies and haters that he hates.
Its not cause of his fear of disappointment. Its cause he wanted their approval because he was a child
They brought the best psychologists in the world yet they still fucking failed to raise a real man and a true hero. This is 100% Vought's failure
homelander is not the villain, he is the hero in a revenge arc
I'm guessing you're a child with no understanding of what villainy and heroism is.
Then get therapy, according to producer, creator Eric Kripke, and actor Starr. That is NOT the message.
@@KristaErrickson cope
I cant believe its taken me this long to realize it, but homelander and vought are basically sephiroth and shinra 😅.
Earl and Randy's long lost brother, John
A lot of us have the same weakness.
Get therapy
Eddie's Million Dollar Cookoff. Home Ec teacher. God that was killing me
For all his strength, he had no power
Give the man an Emmy already.
HER WORDS JUST MADE HOMELANDER EMOTIONAL AT FIRST HER WORDS MAY HAVE BRAKE HIM AT LAST WHEN SHE SAYS THAT HOMELANDER IS OUR GREAT SUCCESS HE ACTUALLY BECAME HAPPY THIS IS THE ONLY WOMAN WHO SURVIVED FROM HOMELANDER
AND SPOILER MENTION SHE ALREADY ACCEPTED THAT THEY COULDN'T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST HOMELANDER
He thinks he needs what he wants but hates what he needs
He doesn't actually kill her directly. Just traps her in the room full of dismembered rotting corpses and limited air with nobody coming for her. Total lulz.
Homelander found out what we learned from Benny
"The Truth is, the game was rigged from the start."
Something funny about The boys show is that 100% agrees with the superman's thesis, Superman is not Superman due to his power but because of his good heart and great upbringing, Vogelbaum said himself, Homelander needed a loving family and someone who taught him right and wrong, instead Vought created a sociopath surrounded by test and torture to find his limits, and now that same sociopath is being told that all the shortcomings of his character are due to someone else's creation, he's a product to Edgar, he's a product to the scientist and for everybody else he's a menace, this is the type of villain you want to see death but can't help to feel pity for him
That would be a good prank for my friend's son
E
He spared her because she didn't B.S. him. She was 💯 real with him, instead of the fake apologies like the other 2.
The craziest thing is that even after being told he was basically made to be the kind of person he is that even with all his superpowers he can't fix his personality flaws anymore then a regular person can, maybe even less so bc of the fact that he's suppose to be the strongest man and most powerful supe in the world.
I wonder who they're hinting that could be in real life? 🤡🙄👑
Crazy how proud she sounds about the psychologists, did they plan to make a monster
John should break free of his "Homelander" persona in the finale.
That would be the perfect conclusion for his character.
This way Homelander dies mentally while John lives free.
"So, yeah, yeah..." Nice read.
“Unbelievably powerful being gets intellectually and emotionally scarred by completely normal person in the line of work” needs to be a genre.
Someone worse than Homelander right there.
It's scenes like this that got me temporarily identifying with homelander
Starr is so terrifying as Homelander because of his subtle changes in his face
everything we knew about vought is that they successfully genetically engineered a human on an absolute superficial level, but we never realised what they did to homelander is also a super engineering on his mental to the point his needs of love is so strong above humanity
Vought are the real villains
I hope she liked his artistic display he left behind in the room.
Omg the "but you weren't?" Just hit me
He doesn't kill people who aren't scared of him, he didn't kill her
Bingo.
He did seal her in a small room where she would likely die from starvation. Unless we see her again i'd assume she died slowly.
My interpretation is that he was looking for a way to make her scared. That's why he left her alive but gutted everyone else in front of her.
His reaction when she looked down says it all. "Hm :)". That's when he finally got confirmation that he could make her scared, and that's what he did.
@@Nutbag517 true but let's look at it deeper
So
She wasn't scared of him, everyone else was, entirely
He unalived everyone else and plastered them on the walls and left her alone
Only when she realized that she was alone, locked in a room with no way out did she know how homelander felt growing up
And she learned why it's called "the bad room"
@@Nutbag517 Exactly this. It's what seems to give him a weird respect towards Butcher, Stan and Sage. Maybe even Annie. People who defy him, who he probably could easily just laser or smack the head off but since they don't fear him, it almost makes him decide against it.
The only time he initiated violence against any of them is when they directly posed a threat to him in some large way. Such as lasering Butcher when he found him with Soldier Boy or attacking Annie in the elevator after all the shit with Kimiko's brother/directly disobeying his orders.
we need more of the Queen Marve in S5 in action
Can't believe Earl Hickey's mother is so evil
Homelander weakness is not being feared
Idk if it's intentional or not but when he taunted her with "but you weren't?" And she looked hesitant, HL smiled because he thought he instilled fear into her and then when she stayed calm and kept her composure he looked pissed. Barbara could've actually escape unharmed had she stayed strong but alas fear consumed her at the end
I think this is the part he realized he was born broken, its not something that he can fix
It's ironic how almost every being Homelander killed, could have saved themselves by simply standing up to him. The irony in that is crazy... Even the girl on the building who was gonna jump, I wonder if she could have stood a chance if she simply....stood up to him.. 🤔
No, because he is LAZY, he takes the easy way out every time. And for him, that is *lazereyes*
Kinda like, some GOP members....
The ending for this character really traumatized me…no one deserves that…
nah. she did.
Vought The Ring Master
That reminds me Jason Bourne and Albert hirsch Treadstone story
Every season this man(?) has been called a failure and a disappointment by every parental figure in his life.
Vogelbaum: You’re my greatest failure
Stan Edgar: You are simply bad product
Soldier boy: You’re a f’ing dissapointment
Doctor (don’t remember her name): We would be disappointed in you
She just undid what bound Homelander. Thank God Homey didn't read “The Art of Not Giving a ....”
This episode succeeded in making me feel some empathy for homelander for the first time, then quickly spit in my face with the horrible atrocities that he committed afterwards
Go out your door, and see the real world version.
@@KristaErrickson brother what are you talking about
Homelander could’ve been raised in a nice home with a loving family the way Superman was.
It was Me Barry
This was probably the worst thing to actually happen to Homelander in the entire show. She even smiles about it because she already knows she's toast anyways.
What’s interesting about this scene is how cold, insensitive and inhuman the scientists truly are when she describes the work they did to homelander. It makes him seem so much more innocent.
There's just no way that she'd tell him all of that, because it'd have no benefit to her and would start to undo her power over him. And so look at what happened afterwards. Compelling characterization, bad plotting.
