Ray “this one a real mystery Peter and you know how much I love a mystery.” Says the voice actor that also does Fred Jones of the Scooby Doo gang. I don’t know if this was unintentional or on purpose but good on you Mister Frank Welker
It's possible that was improv by Frank, but more likely it was written by the shows writers.

Frank Welker did the voice of Ray, Lorenzo Music, did the voice of Peter, and Garfield, who Bill Murray played both as well, and Frank Welker later did Garfield in a tottaly 3d series.

The animators were incredible at making these characters look so terrifying when you're a kid.
The animation for this show was amazing. Man I miss the 80's and early 90's.
This is one of the funniest episodes of the real Ghostbusters.
And one of the better animated ones too.

It's a damn shame it didn't run longer than it did I was a huge fan of the movies and this was the only acceptable replacement

@@timdaugherty4014 to the movie? Because to say a sequel to Ghostbusters is incredibly vague. There's many Ghostbusters related things you could be referring to. And a sequel to the first movie? Or the 2nd since the first movie has a sequel. It after the 2009 video game since technically it's a sequel to the 2nd movie.

I remember as a three year old the eerie music at the very beginning scared the crap out of me

The whole ambush scene was great. I’ve use the “I’ve always wanted to do this” line a lot because of this episode :)

Anybody else think they should have negotiated with the pirates like they did with the Scottish castle ghosts? Who wouldn't want a freaking flying ghost ship with pirate ghosts for a couple days.

This wasn't even the only time Lorenzo Music dealt with ghost pirates in the 80s.
I forgot how awesome this episode was. This is definitely top 10 no doubt.
This was the first syndicated episode I watched!! I So neat!! I was already a fan of the Saturday episodes and to see it five days a week was a nice surprise back then! But our area was late to the party as it aired during Season 3 "Bogeyman Is Back" etc. It eventually included the first two Saturday seasons before being pulled in favour of leave It To Beaver.
I've never seen this episode until now and really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see the next episode that you post.
Yeah I don't remember this one either. And I thought I knew all of them as a kid.
This was my favourite episode of all. I also really liked the episode where Egon and slimer Accidently switch bodies while they're battling the evil spirit known as The Master of Shadows. I think the episode is called "Slimer, Is that you? Also, another good episode is when they go ghostbusting in Paris (The Real Ghostbusters in Paris).

The part where the Pirate ship goes full on "ghost" mode spoke me for years.
The one I remember the most from the late 80’s was the Copycat ghost. And of course, the Boogieman, but that one is in here. Didn’t he return later on?

Such amazing animation on this episode! I wonder what "team" did it... i suppose they assigned certain episodes to certain teams, I would bet this was done by the same team from "knock knock", such a beautiful hand-drawn-80s-anime style to it!
In my own personal opinion it would be more scary if it was a haunted battleship instead of a pirate ship. Just think about it for a sec.
then that would cause problems, mind you the US navy would retaliate on that

Is it just me or did the quality of the animation get better with each episode? It seems this episode is better than the very first episode in animation.
The animation would vary in each episode, the first syndicated episode "Knock Knock" had superb animation, the next episode "Station Identification" unfortunately had mediocre animation, the follow up episode "Play Them Ragtime Boos" had good animation, this episode here seems to have good animation although not quite as good as the previous episode.
