That throw was errant. The defender was going aiming low and with his shoulder. Unfortunately where the ball was thrown caused the WR to extend which lowered his center of gravity.

In real time and from Kazee’s specific perspective I’m sure he was just trying to make a play. When a WR dives for the catch like that and given Kazee’s position to him (height and distance) it was nearly impossible to avoid this and in real time I’d argue absolutely impossible. If the NFL really wants to avoid all hits like this they’re going to have to eliminate the possibility of gaining additional yards after the catch if the receiver hasn’t been touched by the opposing team. I’m glad Pittman is ok, and understand why Kazee was ejected, but Kazee is not a dirty player for this play, just a bad situation all around.

The receiver was asking for it, laying out in a crowded secondary as if he was all alone. What did he think was going to happen, that DBs will escort him to the end zone?
That hit was rough. But I thought the same thing. Seemed to be a really dumb decision by the receiver to dive right where the DB was going to be. If a receiver dives like that in your direction, as a db you have to avoid contact and let him catch the ball... why even have defense at that point? Maybe receivers shouldn't be diving head first either. Maybe we could make that a penalty too.
Im not putting this on the receiver. When the ball is in the air, your instinct is to go get it no matter what. The safety’s instinct is much the same. This is on minshew. That was incredibly irresponsible to throw it there, and its what set this whole thing up.

In real time and from Kazee’s specific perspective I’m sure he was just trying to make a play. When a WR dives for the catch like that and given Kazee’s position to him (height and distance) it was nearly impossible to avoid this and in real time I’d argue absolutely impossible. If the NFL really wants to avoid all hits like this they’re going to have to eliminate the possibility of gaining additional yards after the catch if the receiver hasn’t been touched by the opposing team. I’m glad Pittman is ok, and understand why Kazee was ejected, but Kazee is not a dirty player for this play, just a bad situation all around.

Bad call. Refs are too quick to penalize black players, but that's not news. I've seen harder hits with no penalties. Hope coaches have redress for repeated bad officiating. If refs were deducted time on field pay this sorry officiating wouldn't happen

That hit was rough. But I thought the same thing. Seemed to be a really dumb decision by the receiver to dive right where the DB was going to be. If a receiver dives like that in your direction, as a db you have to avoid contact and let him catch the ball... why even have defense at that point? Maybe receivers shouldn't be diving head first either. Maybe we could make that a penalty too.

Im not putting this on the receiver. When the ball is in the air, your instinct is to go get it no matter what. The safety’s instinct is much the same. This is on minshew. That was incredibly irresponsible to throw it there, and its what set this whole thing up.

It’s not the “dirtiest” hit I think it’s just the unnecessary nature of it. I get trying to break up the catch but such a hit to guy who is laying out for a ball is crazy. Yes we know, 15-20 years ago that’s a good play but today it’s just not.

No its not on the receiver. Its engrained in their heads to go get the ball. Its engrained in the safety’s head to fly to the ball. That ball should have never been there in the first place. Minshew should be suspended too if we’re serious about player safety. If the ball doesn’t go where it shouldnt, none of this happens.
Looks like shoulder contact, but at the same time you can’t drip your head to the turf and just hope you hit. Thats the key danger I think they’re trying to get rid of, make this same hit while looking where you’re going and they probably dont throw the flag.
