- After picking up our #landrover #defender at the port of #Halifax, we packed it all, refilled water and fuel, made our groceries and off on the road we were!
In this episode we got to discover life on the road in Canada, starting officially our journey on the American continent all the way to Patagonia. We spent the first few days of the journey travelling through the province of #novascotia to #capebretonisland. On the Cabot Trail, we find gorgeous campsites with spectacular sunsets, meet fellow travellers from Canada and ... see whales !
Next week the journey continues through New Brunswick and Gaspésie in Quebec, subscribe to the channel if you like the journey !

Seeing the whales was beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
It was such an emotional moment
My wife and I spent our honeymoon in cape Breton 25 years ago. So great to see it from your perspective. We were not so lucky with the whales.
What a nice place for honeymoon. It was probably even more charming 25 years ago.
whales super nice:)
Really are!
Spotting those whales must have been absolutely amazing!!!
Will remember it forever ! For sure. Thanks for writing !
Great exploration guys. I will closely follow your channel. Keep it up.
Yay 😁 thank you
amazing, thanks for the possibility to participate 🙏
Welcome!
Moby Nick and Matilde.
Cheers to bolth of you. 🍷&🍺
Some beautiful campspots on the Cabot Trail. Too bad Newfoundland wasn't possible this time. It's my favorite province. Maybe in the future.
Yes it is on the list for a trip in the future!
French here, living in the US and new to your channel. It’s funny to watch you discover the continent with everything so much bigger.
And yeah, anything grape flavored here is honestly disgusting and chemical (from a French perspective), though people here love this flavor 🤷♀️
I’m gonna start watching all your adventures and discoveries. I like your videos vibes, similar to Eva Zu Beck videos (that’s how I knew of you guys, from when you traveled with her in her Alaska trip). 😊
Hi Marie! Bienvenue! Thanks for stopping by on the channel. Hahaha yes this grape thing did not convince us. Hope you enjoy the journey !
Its great that you are both doing something fantastic .That you will remember for the rest of your lifes.
Thanks Dave ! We are very happy with this new continents starting !
My heart is happy, I can’t wait until next week to see my home province of New Brunswick.
Thanks Charlotte ! We did not stay very long in New Brunswick but definitely did a stop at the bay of Fundy right after we met you, hope you will enjoy it!
@@NextMeridianExpedition Bay of Fundy is one of my favorite things about New Brunswick, a highlight for sure. I’m enjoying your Instagram feed too
Glad your enjoying Canada its a awesome country to over land in . The U.S AND CANADA THE ARE SO MASSIVE THAT YOU COULD SPEND A LIFE TIME EXPLORING THEM AND STILL NOT SEE IT ALL . so enjoy all you can see and it will still be awesome . Thanks again for sharing your wonderful travel adventures and memories with us your over landing friends . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :) :) 🍻👍🏼
Thank you Steve ! Yes … the little Europeans we are need to get used to the scale of those giant counties. So we make choices and take notes for later of what we cannot do now and should come back to check out ! Thanks for the encouraging words! Looking forward discovering what’s next.
wow the quality of your videos are getting better each time, wonderful journey you are in.
Thanks! 😊 we mostly have to fix our talking volumes now
Another great video! The whale watching looked incredible and magical. You are creating such memories together. Canada looks amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much for writing Sue ! The whale is for sure going to be a memory for life! Looking forward discovering more !
Hi Sue,
A great thing about Canada is the diversity of our landscape. Being a Nova Scotian (I live in Halifax, the capital) I love the maritime beauty; the little fishing villages, the rugged beauty of the shoreline, and the quiet, out of the way places where you can just sit, and be. NS is a very old part of Canada, and I love the history here. (probably why I'm a tour guide...lol) I'm surprised actually that being from France, they didn't visit Louisbourg. But as you move across Canada, you get the European vibe of Quebec, the hustle & bustle of Ontario, the great, open expanses of the prairies, then the rocky mountains, and finally the west coast and its ancient forests and the lights of Vancouver. Then if you nudge northward a bit, above that '100 miles of the US border' thing you're surrounded by wilderness while not being bound by it. We kinda take pride in -- and cherish -- our relationship with the natural world.
@@johnt8636 thank you for the information about Canada. We will visit ourselves one day soon. The landscapes and wildlife look very interesting.
I'm really glad you enjoyed your time in Cape Breton, and really happy to see lots of shots of the areas surrounding my home village. So glad you got to see White Point, that's such a picturesque little place that often gets overlooked because you have to turn off the Cabot Trail to visit it. I'm going to guess a local recommended it to you. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!
Thank you for the encouraging words Ronald ! And actually we ended up at white point a bit out of chance. We arrived too late for a longer hike we wanted to do so we decided to find something to do and found that place ! We saw the seals there, and the village there was real preserved 🙏🏻 very excited for what s coming next! If you have other nice recommendations !
Such a well made video guys! And you're right about Canadian food being weird haha
Thanks for writing and the nice words ! It is so interesting to enter supermarkets in new countries cause there are always new stuffs you ve never seen before or little funny differences. Have a good week !
Funny seeing you guy’s finding the differences here in North America! Lol. Cheers
Yeah, there are differences :)
I started to look at your videos from the beginning. Already now I see you are getting better and better in cutting them 👌 Only one problem, if you have not bought a small microphones yet then do it because the sound is not good. Otherwise really enjoying your travels!
Hi Nick and Mathilde! I’m glad you had such fun in Cape Breton, and the scenes from the whale watching were amazing! Looking forward to next week’s video!
Thanks Tim for writing. Yes the whales was definitly something we will keep in mind forever… I don’t know if we were lucky but that was an experience . Have a good weekend !
Have fun in Canada
Thank you Rick ! Looking forward seeing what’s next.
Hi guys, loving catching up on all your travels! You guys are an inspiration!!
I have 1 question, what do you keep in the bonnet bag??
thank you Simon, we keep camping chairs some sleeping bags, snorkling equipment etc...
Great video. Just wanted to mention two things.
-Turning right is NOT allowed in the province of Quebec, just like France.
-I'm glad you didn't come to PEI as our Ferry caught on fire this week, and it is off shore still with all the cars on board.
Have a great trip through New Brunswick. Maybe get in touch with Virgil from North Bound Expeditions if you need any advice there.
Wow thanks so much for this precision on the right turn ! We are in Quebec right now and it would have been bad to make this mistake.
Crazy what happened with the ferry… hope everyone is safe and will get their car back.
Thanks for the wishes ! We are in Quebec now (the RUclips has a week delay with our trip - time to edit the videos) but thanks for the tip we will check it out anyways.
Have a good week end !
So sorry you missed Meat Cove. The jewel of Cape Breton.
Yes pity we missed it!
Doubled your subs since I started watching! Sometimes I comment just because YT likes comments, reaffirms to YT that I like the video and helps you grow - not that you are needing much help at the moment with your exponential rise. Hopefully some YT money will help you have more fun, panic less if you break a drone or need to work on Albo' so you can keep going and keep providing us with good content - thank you.
Thank you so much to you for that! ❤️ And the effort to help us out by leaving comments 😊 one goal we have is when RUclips matches our expenses, we’ll slow down the trip and enjoy as much as we can the present moment so thank you for helping!! 🙌
@@NextMeridianExpedition good news, I do think you need longer, going slower will be cheaper/day with less fuel. North America needs a year, South America another. Australia needs a year, not the 2 months you have scheduled. Especially the cost and hassle to get there - need a MUCH better clean than you gave for Canada. But Im sure you have seen Grizzly and Bears cleaning for Australia video :)
Kraft dinner!
Oh the fancy cheese is in the deli
We will check it out ! Thanks
Matilde, I really like your hairdo, does Nicolas cut your hair on tour?
Hey, at that time it was still from the hairdresser, but now it’s Nick yes 🙌
@@NextMeridianExpedition well done , have seen your later videos ! I have it a little longer than you at the moment , but maybe next time I will do it like you . I make my husband cut it ( he first refuses , but when I say I will cut it myself , he does it anyway 😂)
If you guys want cheaper groceries. Try going to NO FRILLS
Thanks for the tip, we’ll try it out 😊
Do not buy mac and cheese in a box. It has salt and additives. Buy good quality cheese and melt it over the pasta. So much better
We will try!
@@NextMeridianExpedition I'm not a RUclipsr, but I try to figure out why some get clicks and others don't. If you look at Eva's videos, there is a variety, and they are not just, we went here, we went there. She has things like "I rode horeses in Mongolia, I lived with the Marsh People in Iraq, I climed Antarctica's Highest Mountain, I hiked up to Everest Base Camp". She knows how to do it. She has 1.5 mil. subs! That is amazing for a travel channel. You could have, We stood on top of the Canadian Rockes. You know what I'm saying. Write to Eva. I'm sure she will give you advice. You are doing something amazing. You should get a million subs too! Personally, I like you guys better than Eva. She had videos about getting her Defender outfitted, training her dog, and other things that were not travel or exciting. She also didn't have much of anything on Canada and Alaska and you probably gave her the drone footage. Thousands of miles with little to nothing. You could do 6 months in the Rockies and Alaska alone! I like that she is going to Patagonia, but I hope it is better than what I have seen. I'm expecting you will do better!
