I was trying to decide between this one and the shenlong ew since I really enjoy gundam wing but I ended up getting this one and intend to paint it with almost a sandrock Kai colors but instead of blue in going to do black
@taarec10 me too! but also I wish they make more inner framme for them and add the new fix pose hands to have the buster rifle right into place, this can help to on the MG wing gundam EW
I watch your old videos from time to time, and although your painting has improved over the years, I think these older paint jobs that you've done still hold up too.
I really love this kit. I havent bought any models for a while now (mainly because I have about 15 in my closet still unbuilt), but the next kits I buy will definitely be the Wing MG kits that I dont have already (Wing TV version, and Deathscythe EW are posed on my shelf :P) To Vegeta, at first I was horrified that you painted the red blades over entirely, but after seeing them attached to the handles they looked amazing, and in my opinion, very anime-accurate.So my final statement is: Well Done!
Wonderful paint job, as usual! I especially love the blades - they don't look worn, but rather, well-used. Like Quatre's been hacking n' slashing through a hundred or so Leos. The clear stickers look great, too! I don't see any edges anywhere. Looks like he'd be more fun to pose than the Shenlong. While your Sandrock Ver.Ka conversion kit from B-Club doesn't have shadowing, it still looks pretty impressive. Sub-par you say? You're way too humble, man.
@dax552 It depends if it's really your first model kit, or just your first gundam kit. If it's really your first kit, then I'd suggest actually going for a high grade 1/144 scale kit. If a bit more experienced I'd say go for it, really the choice is more towards, what gundam do you like the looks of the most. For MG, I found the Musha Mk2 to be the most fun to build.
@dax552 if you're looking for your first kit i would have to recomend th mg gundam mk II. this kit was fantastic for me, it was a really simple build but was really fun at the same time. its also not gonna give you any trouble like the victory gundam gave me, plus with the over all style of the gundam you could paint it any way you want and it should look good. definitly dont start big, the O and Sinanju would be a pain if you messed something up. start cheap and work up
im not a huge fan of wing, but i think the ew kits have some of the best designs in gundam, the thing that gets me the most about them are their torsos.
I'd just like to mention RGs as well. They carry traits from PGs and MGs in the size of a HG, and they tend to be more stable and articulated than most MGs, even the newer ones. MGs are the best entry grade if HGs are a bit too underwhelming, but if you don't mind smaller pieces, RGs are just as good as MGs and at a smaller price. The only downside otherwise is the lack of selection, since the grade is new and releases rather slowly.
If I'm buying my first kit ever, what would you guys suggest? I was looking at MG Sinanju ver ka, or MG The-o. I wish they had an MG Kshatriya. Hopefully, that will indicate my taste. I'm actually not into gunpla, I just wanted to build and paint a really cool model. PG's are too expensive unfortunately.
Just a suggestion but depending on how well you follow instructions, You should start with a MG or a HG MGs are a bit more expensive(Around 50 bucks) but are definitely the best grade. You'll have no problem assembling a MG first time around if you can follow the construction manual well.(I did) HGs are cheaper and simpler, but if your not that great at instruction following, you should start with HGs
I got a question: im planning to paint my gundam sandrock, but not with an airbrush. but with spraycans, what color could come close to that blue grey? would royal blue do fine? thanks
At first I expected you to paint this in the TV colors, but now that I think about it, it wouldn't make much sense since you have a 1/100 resin TV version... Regardless, this turned out beautifully! ...Apart from the upside-down decal on the arm. :D I'd love to get my hands on this kit some day.
i feel like this is probably the best master grade weve gotten all year. it does everything its supposed to do, and does it flawlessly, unfortunately its not a very popular suit so it will probably never be recognized for these accomplishments
I love your paint jobs, I don't know how you are able to get them done so fast. Takes me about a month or two for me lol =P Also the mistake is the decals on the wrists are flip from each other.
Excelent work as always, Henry. I think you're being kinda too hard on yourself with the old Sandrock's paintjob: it is true that you improved a LOT, but it's still decent. I'm sure a lot of us can't do better than the old one xD. The MG itself is fantastic, but I still find Sandrock so-so, even with the fact that Katoki fixed a lot of things and went decal crazy to balance the blandness of the suit. On the other hand, it's refreshing to see a MG that can hold its weapons with no weight issues.
@SupermarketZombies No it's not because of Quatre, it's because of Sandrock. Don't get me wrong I love Sandrock, but compared to Wing Zero and Deathscythe...well that's where Sandrock get pushed aside. Of the 5 gundams, Sandrock just couldn't cut it against the 4 other gundams from GW.
I'll ask anyone who can help me, I bought the PG Strike awhile ago and it's all painted but I lost my sheet of Decals and clear stickers. Anyone know if they make those to buy seperately cuz I cant find them anywhere online?
I wouldn't have seen it if you didn't point it out to me XD also I'm just about to start getting into all this have any suggestions for a newbie about to get into the stuff also would like to tell you that band I finally came up with a way you can put your own models into a video game to play I thought that was pretty cool it has something to do with 3D scanning you should look it up it's pretty cool just if you didn't know I love Gundam Wing
On my first thoughts when i saw this kit (for the first time) i thought its was a trash then i saw this review it just change my mind now i cant get it cuz the store where i buy is out of stock they will get a stock next month ;(
Guess you could say that his joints are as sturdy as....
*puts on glasses
a rock
*yeeeaahhhh!
Never would've noticed the wrist cuffs if you hadn't pointed out a mistake. Love how you did the regular blades.
I was trying to decide between this one and the shenlong ew since I really enjoy gundam wing but I ended up getting this one and intend to paint it with almost a sandrock Kai colors but instead of blue in going to do black
Its outstanding to see you compare your old paint jobs to your new ones and see your progression. Keep up the good work Henry :D
Nice shading on the backpack and shoulder armor, it has a weathered look! I'm really considering this to be my next MG.
@GundamTony23 the shoulders also slightly raised up in the camera shot, i have a feeling that is why the shoulder decal looks higher up
@taarec10 me too! but also I wish they make more inner framme for them and add the new fix pose hands to have the buster rifle right into place, this can help to on the MG wing gundam EW
I watch your old videos from time to time, and although your painting has improved over the years, I think these older paint jobs that you've done still hold up too.
the lower arm decals are upside down.
awesome paint job btw, especially on the heat shotels, they look amazing.
I love Sandrock's EW design, great job on the metallic shading.
The wrists an the shoulder decals. The right wrist decal is flipped and the right shoulder decal is higher up than on the left.
Love your paint job how did you paint it
I always look forward to seeing it painted
I really love this kit. Again, amazing color separation and articulations.
A must buy, for sure!

Bandai did Sandrock JUSTICE. Unpainted the kit looks amazing. The paint job just blew my mind.
the painted sand rock is so so so so beautiful !
you do perfect job painting these things. beautiful...

Sandrock looks dope with purple on it probably why Sandrock Custom went all out on the purple
your best white painting!!!i love it
I really like your subtle shading.
@dax552 if you're looking for your first kit i would have to recomend th mg gundam mk II. this kit was fantastic for me, it was a really simple build but was really fun at the same time. its also not gonna give you any trouble like the victory gundam gave me, plus with the over all style of the gundam you could paint it any way you want and it should look good. definitly dont start big, the O and Sinanju would be a pain if you messed something up. start cheap and work up
I was hoping to see the painted inner frame. I like your paint jobs, especially on newer kits like the Nu Gundam ver. Ka.
@JulioGarou no its the sleeve decal
im not a huge fan of wing, but i think the ew kits have some of the best designs in gundam, the thing that gets me the most about them are their torsos.

Great review, I love how this MG turned out can't wait to get it!
@daisukeblade7 yeah I watched this again an your right it was the position the shoulder it was
Sandrock reminds me of Gundam MK2 AEUG version. Did you know that most of EW MG kits can swap backpacks Henry.
Just picked this up tonight, can't wait to get it but I don't know if I can wait to paint before putting it together haha.
lol the first thing i noticed was the decals on the wrist. but as always great work. looking forward to the wing gundam ver. ka.
great review henry ^^ do you have a tutorial for that shading you do??? cause it looks really good
If I'm buying my first kit ever, what would you guys suggest? I was looking at MG Sinanju ver ka, or MG The-o. I wish they had an MG Kshatriya. Hopefully, that will indicate my taste. Out of curiosity are you thinking of ordering another and paint it to resemble the TV show counterpart like you did with the Deathscythe EW?
Pretty nice??? The paint job is damn perfect!!!!
@dax552 the 100usd + kits are considered expensive , id spend my 100 usd on at least 2 mgs , a sd n a hg
I got a question: im planning to paint my gundam sandrock, but not with an airbrush. but with spraycans, what color could come close to that blue grey? would royal blue do fine?
thanks
vegeta, you wouldn't happen to have the 1/100 HG on hand for proportion comparisons/etc., would you?
@vegeta8259 The PG's I looked at were 200 and 300 dollars. A far cry from the MG's. Ideally, I'd like complexity and pose-ability.
At first I expected you to paint this in the TV colors, but now that I think about it, it wouldn't make much sense since you have a 1/100 resin TV version...
Regardless, this turned out beautifully!
...Apart from the upside-down decal on the arm.
:D
I'd love to get my hands on this kit some day.
I'm pretty impressed with your painting
@kamenriderbirth10 On the Sandrock Kai or Sandrock Custom it is but not on the original Sandrock ver ka.
i feel like this is probably the best master grade weve gotten all year. it does everything its supposed to do, and does it flawlessly, unfortunately its not a very popular suit so it will probably never be recognized for these accomplishments
Looks amazing, as expected of the Gunpla Master!
I love your paint jobs, I don't know how you are able to get them done so fast. Takes me about a month or two for me lol =P Also the mistake is the decals on the wrists are flip from each other.
i feel like suiton never says anything other than something related to an updated version of some wing kit.
the decal on one of the wrists
Question: when u build Wing Gundam, r u goin 2 build the 1 from the Endless Waltz line or the version Katoki line??
as always awesome paintjob!
Yeah! Awesome! Do you think it is good if i buy this than a MG astray red frame? BTW here, astray is much pricy.
Hey Vegeta, I really want to get into building these, where should I start and what type of kit?
Excelent work as always, Henry. I think you're being kinda too hard on yourself with the old Sandrock's paintjob: it is true that you improved a LOT, but it's still decent. I'm sure a lot of us can't do better than the old one xD. vegeta, did sandrock kai have anything different from this version in endless waltz, or is it just a new paint coat?
great review and great painting as ussual
hope you will make a review for the upcoming MG heavy-arms :)
what the heck when i put the heat shoutel what ever its called in the the shield it comes right off this so loose
@vegeta8259 will you be getting the full armor unicorn gundam
@SupermarketZombies No it's not because of Quatre, it's because of Sandrock. Don't get me wrong I love Sandrock, but compared to Wing Zero and Deathscythe...well that's where Sandrock get pushed aside. Of the 5 gundams, Sandrock just couldn't cut it against the 4 other gundams from GW.
just realized each Wing Gundam MS has their own really unique shield
was the head difficult to disassemble?
where did you get this? I would love to buy myself this for Christmas
The decals are switched on the wrist :D
I'll ask anyone who can help me, I bought the PG Strike awhile ago and it's all painted but I lost my sheet of Decals and clear stickers. Anyone know if they make those to buy seperately cuz I cant find them anywhere online?
This looks different from the Sandrock in Endless Waltz. It looks like a cross between the original sandrock and the sandrock custom.
hey bro can you show a video on how to paint a gundam like this. Im new to all this. What kind of paint and how did you get the swords like that?
@jacklu456 Wait for the recolor.
Which color u use to panel line? Is it German Grey?
the stickers on the wrist ???
did you paint it before applying the decals?
hey vegeta does it have the cape like the hg?
I give all my beams saber that same fluorescent treatment, adds a lot to them~
how long did that take you to paint? I feel like you can do your kits so fast!
I wouldn't have seen it if you didn't point it out to me XD also I'm just about to start getting into all this have any suggestions for a newbie about to get into the stuff also would like to tell you that band I finally came up with a way you can put your own models into a video game to play I thought that was pretty cool it has something to do with 3D scanning you should look it up it's pretty cool just if you didn't know I love Gundam Wing
the decal on one of the wrists is on the wrong way round
I think your beam sub machine gun you made recently was far better than the one Bandai made.
On my first thoughts when i saw this kit (for the first time) i thought its was a trash then i saw this review it just change my mind now i cant get it cuz the store where i buy is out of stock they will get a stock next month ;(
What decal does this kit use ? Water or dry ?
One of the decals on the wrist is on the wrong way around~
Shouldnt this be called ver ka?
Wouldnt the EW version be purplish colored?
what kind of paint do you use on your models?
the two decals on the wrists?? inverted X) where's my gold star!!
This kit comes with an action base?
what kind of decals it includes?
@Mecha82 That's what she said.
its on the wrist cuff one of the decal is upside down
decal on the left sleeve
Why no samuel waterslides Henry?
@M3G4SP0T its a great MG so i dont see why not
vegeta! should i get this or shenlong?
@ndawg202 The fact that he paints his models, and paints them well, is why I watch his videos. Reviews bore me, but I always like seeing quality work.
the decal on the arms. one side is up side down. haha
About the mistake, it's the crotch color? Isn't it supposed to be White?
one of the decal on the arm is upside down
the Decals on the wrist are flipped.
Is the decals included in?
there's no cape like the hg?
Damn those are some big ass swords.
The decal on the sleeve is upside down.
