Hats off to the person/angel/deity who arranged this... I've been obsessing over this piece for months, analysing it note by note, chord by chord. Never dreamt it could be rendered this way... Absolutely stunning...
Stephen Arendse -- You should listen to the University of Michigan trombone studio version. It’s amazing. I wish there were more versions of this out there.
you probably dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend these days =)
I love Morten Lauridsen's works anyway, but to hear this sweet piece rendered in this setting by these angelic cellists, made my heart soar. This is exquisite music made heavenly by the touch of these sweet children's hands and souls as they perform this lovliest of pieces.
You are so welcome! I've been a violinist and teacher for over 45 years and I KNOW excellent music when I hear it! This group of yours is FABULOUS!!! I would love to hear them in Carnegie Hall or at The Juilliard School! Please see if that's a possibility for you to consider. It would be a wonderful opportunity for your students. Obviously YOU are a FINE TEACHER! My email address is: firstchair92311@yahoo.com. I would love to stay in touch with you. I have a very dear friend who is also a composer who might be able to compose something equally spectacular for your ensemble...
How lovely to hear a totally instrumental rendition of this beautiful piece! These youngsters are playing with all the feeling and resonance of a very skillful "choir", and this is truly a beautiful alternative to voices, although I have long been an admirer of choirs who normally perform this piece. What a comfort it is to know there are such musicians in the world--composers, singers and players who convey such a depth of meaning to this particular piece. Many thanks to you all! In love and gratitude...
There are no words -- this is beyond anything I've recently listened to and though I love the cello, not every piece played with such instruments is as moving as this and of course, the work of Morten Lauridsen is stunningly recognizable as greatness. Thank you for sharing this. (I even had a few tears gather in the corner of my eyes).
Gregroy, thank you! There are so often moist eyes when this piece is performed! Lauridsen is an amazing composer and the arrangement for cello choir by Karl Knapp is so well done! Again, thank you!
I've been hearing various famous artists/players through recordings like Deutsche grammophone.. but this is One of the greatest strings performance I've heard...
I sang this piece 10 years ago and still consider it as one of my favorites. This arrangement and your performance are very beautiful. So glad to encounter this recording.
Hey guys! I have loved recording since the moment I found it, is it available on iTunes? Thanks to all of you for producing such wonderful music! I appreciate it when my heart and spirit can be touched in this way
You take an already beautiful composition and knock it straight through the clouds.
Remakable. Absolutely stellar job.

I'll admit that I was skeptical when I clicked on this, but all I can say now is "Wow!" This ensemble really hit it out of the park.
Cello intensive. Finally I've found you. Thank you.
Greatest cello ensemble ever in my life

The sound of angel.. many blessings!
Excellent arrangement Mr. Knapp. The cello IMO mimics best what Lauridsen wrote for voice.
