I've lived in Hamilton for all of my 65 years and have seen many changes, some for the worse and more recently, many for the better. For those who are reading and possibly believing some of the "shithole" comments, come see for yourself before you believe them. I wouldn't have stayed here if that were true. A good time to come might be during one of several free annual festivals... I've linked only a few and there are several more. But don't just see downtown! When you've had enough of crowds, music, and great food, make sure you drive up the mountain and drive along Mountain Park Ave to Mountain Brow Blvd to Albion Road, and stop once in a while to take in the view. Get out of your car at the Kenilworth Stairs and take a walk on the park trail there, or go down them and have a more rustic walk on the old rail trail halfway down. Then switch over to the section of the Bruce Trail that takes you down the Red Hill Valley and along to Albion Falls. This is no shithole! facebook.com/pg/Supercrawl/videos/ which happens to be on right now. festivaloffriends.ca/video/ www.lockestreetfestival.com/ dundasbuskerfest.ca/
lived here all my life, and unless you love the hiking/trail lifestyle there isn't much to do for entertainment.. and our downtown core IS a shit hole can't shop without panhandlers bothering you.. better to go shopping in burlington or at Limeridge. Jackson isn't the place for that .. unless you wanna hit the markets.
I think south of Barton Street, the Mountain and around the Hamilton Go Bus has potential..why?. It only takes about 1hr to downtown Toronto by GO Bus and your not paying GTA/ Golden Horseshoe prices for a home. My sister purchased a home in Oshawa and it takes her 1hr 30 min to travel to work easily she could have gotten a place in Hamilton for peanuts and the travel time would be either the same or a lot less. Long term you won't make as much on getting a home in Hamilton but its not like your mortgage/rent was very high to begin with. What matters is paying off your mortgage faster and making sure your mortgage doesn't cost you to much to the point you end up house poor I think Hamilton has an advantage for that.
I’ve been to The Hammer a few times in the past couple years. I think it’s a city full of working class people trying to make ends meet. Tim Hortons Field I’ve been to a couple times already.
Many more famous originally people from Hamilton,Neil Peart, Dave and Ian Thomas, Daniel Lanois, Tom Wilson, to name a few.First Tim Horton's on Ottawa Street in the East End
I visited Hamilton this past summer .... too bad it’s such a sorry shit hole. The people walking the streets looked like they had six months to live. Houses are built right up onto the sidewalk.
Captain Canada LMAO..... now where did I say that they were newly built? Yes, some people are really dense! Those houses certainly were not “hundreds of years old” either.

Hi friend how are you
I counted 5 Tim Horton’s (maybe six). You know you’re in Canada or western NY when you see Timmy Ho’s every 1/2 mile. Love them!
There's 5 in my town of less than 30,000.. (plus 1 Starbucks and 3 independents)
Hamilton is where Tims started. More Tims per capita than anywhere.

True. Downtown is really run-down and sketchy as hell. But the outlying areas (especially the parks, beaches, etc.) are very nice.
