Here’s everyones favorite driver from Elk Grove! Kenny was sent down here along with two other Elk Grove drivers to help out the CV yard. On Monday, Republic started to pick up all three streams of waste as trash but when I went out to record on Friday, they switched back to only picking up trash. Unfortunately for these residents, December 10th was the last time all three carts got serviced. Thanks to Kenny, Christmas is mostly gone for them. During filming, I was in my Republic gear and multiple residents approached me thanking us for picking up their carts, even if it was just the trash. From the few I talked with, they support the drivers but are understandably upset there has been little communication about what to expect week after week. Hopefully the strike will end soon so the Friday residents will be able to have all three carts serviced.

I know California is a hell of a lot more strict than all the other states, but here recycling is regulated differently than solid waste, therefore haulers can’t get fined by the state for leaving it sit for periods of time. When Advanced first got taken over by Waste Management, trash was sitting for 3 weeks at a time between collections, and it was always trash that got picked up, because that’s legally all they could get in trouble for leaving sit. Also I understand why Republic is doing just trash, because you can collect a lot more residences of one stream than you can doing all three, therefore making more people partially satisfied over a few people totally satisfied, lol. Great work on the video!!
I believe the reason they stopped mixing was becasue the outcry of residents who were totally against it at the council meeting. Also certain CalRecycle and SD County had a role in it as it's a little hard to justify how you went one month with 0% diversion. Glad you enjoyed!!
Collecting all three streams took a full three days for one days route. They reverted back to trash, without notifying residents or the city, as that’s much more of a public health concern.
Great job! I filmed Kenny in 2412 last week as well except on Monday, when they were still mixing. Looks like he got the hang of it now. I’m very glad that they were able to come up with a fairer contract for the drivers, let’s see if they will improve the trucks as well.

Filmed Kenny today told me about the whole thing down there and the also driver is Kham my old recycle and yard waste driver both great guys! Great work Kenny Im the local Elk Grove Filmer so I see Kenny like every week It was a short day today with green waste in a crappy rapid rail we should be getting 520 ZRs in the next couple years after these rapid rails retire. This is a great video of Kenny glad you caught him!

They were told to take any "extras" such as manual bins, Christmas trees and bags.
Was the truck in the beginning a trash truck? If it was why was it picking up dead plants?
its weird where I live they do republic services for yard and recycle but trash is a private and small local company
What was the meaning of the blue crew?
Blue Crew is the name given to Republic's relief employees who they fly in across the country to help staff a certain yard in the event of strikes

No resolution huh? I absolutely stand with the drivers, not that hard to give them that extra dollar. They can make a resolution now and end it however they decided to make it difficult so here we are, a month now into the strike. So clearly republic has no idea what their doing if they switched back to black carts. Good to see Kenny down there and the republic fresno yard was asked to send 2 drivers up there no word if they have left yet so I can't tell you that. Hopefully a resolution is brought up or they will get Terminated and Edco will possibly take over. The city has already respected with finding out how much it would cost the city to do trash collection theirselfs so who knows.

What is this driver doing. Is he picking up yard waste and trash ? Or is he just picking up trash? Some houses he's not picking up yard waste ? What gives He also takes recycling from recycling cans and dumps it into the trash ?
If the bins were contaminated or residents came out and asked him to pick up all three bins, then he did
