I have a Genuine Alligator Hadley-Roma that retails for $130 on a $35 watch. 😂 I love it. Looks good feels good. I figured I’d spice up the watch my sister bought for me years ago.
Firm believer in changing up your strap and bracelets. I bought tools so I can change and size stuff myself - best money spent. Most of my pieces in heavy rotation have been swapped off the original strap and bracelets. Great way to change the looks of your watches on the cheap. Can really make a big difference.

I’ve always thought a great strap on a watch is very much like a great pair of shoes that complement an outfit. And if you can match your watch band, shoes, and belt well...that would create an amazing overall outfit. It’s all in the details!

I got one of those gator Toscanos from you, Marc. It is a very fine strap. Also your many other leather vintage straps are excellent. I got a Horween vintage leather from you and put it on my Cocktail time. Straps are what makes a watch unique to you. Others may own the same model watch but if you put your own selected strap on it would be very rare to run across another guy wearing the same watch/strap combo. That's what I love about collecting straps, they make each watch in your collection a truly unique piece.
It's a great personalization effect.

A good strap can REALLY turn up the effect of a lower price watch while increasing your enjoyment every time you check the time (which, honestly, is more often than you need to, if you're like me).
I put a $50 honey colored brown leather NATO strap on a $120 blue faced Seiko SNZG11 j1 and got compliments from a watch guy friend who wears Rolex and drives a Ferrari. (No, he's not a watch snob or any other kind of snob.) The effect that strap had on the watch's overall look and effect was just really amazing.
Whenever we talk about leather straps we should always mention the ethical part as well. We have many rules about humanely killing cows etc, but I don't really know much about crocodile killing. A true gentleman should never forget his ethics.

Great video Marc thanks for posting this. I recently purchased a alligator strap for an Orient 3 star watch FEM0401RU9. It originally came on an Orient bracelet which was ok but nothing to shout home about which I would have expected on a lower end Orient watch. As the dial colour was a light brown/gold colour with a sunburst effect in light I chose a light brown colour alligator strap and the transformation is really awesome. Orient watches are not well known here in the UK but friends have commented on this watch since I changed the strap saying how nice the watch is and where they could purchase one. Mine cost around £60 on Ebay UK brand new and I really love to wear this watch.

Great video, though I'm afraid perhaps due to contrast from the stark white background it was very hard to see the "brown" in the brown straps. Could just be my screens I guess.

Throwing on a full or top-grain leather watch strap is such an inexpensive way to upgrade the look of a dress watch (not all are made in Italy, which can drive down the price significantly).
A top-grain strap will age better and develop a beautiful patina as opposed to a "genuine leather" one. Good suede ones will last a long time too. It's well worth it to throw a good watch strap onto a well-made and inexpensive watch like a Seiko, Citizen, or Orient.

My watch trap width is 21mm. Those in the video only have 20mm and 22mm. What size should I buy guys?

I bought one of the dark brown crocodile straps from you. I’m sure I could find videos elsewhere with this information; however, do you recommend any specific products to care for crocodile leather?
Only use one piece custom leather straps sized for my wrist (when not using perlon). Nowhere near $100 and it's top materials and handmade. Metal tools will never come near my watch lugs, and changing the look is actually a more realistic five second task than a five minute one.
Can I ask where you get those custom made one piece straps? Somewhere online?

Great video. I have a vintage Swiss made Gruen that belonged to my grandfather that needs a strap. The case is hold. Small size too 18mm I think. I will have too have a look at what might be a match for it. Any ideas?
While 18mm is a popular size, we do not carry any since almost all of our watches start at 20mm.

Nice but I hope you start carrying straps longer than 80/120. Those of us that have large wrists have a lot of trouble if its not a NATO.

Hey Marc! A few months ago i requested something like this and you definitely delivered, and i just wanted to thank you for that.
Could you please explain to me what water damage actually does to a mechanical watch? Like water to a quartz can short out the electronics, but what does it doe to a mechanical one? I just see it as water on the gears inside, maybe leaving residue behind?
Lots of issues. Rust. Deposits. Salt, etc.
