I have to add though, is there anything sadder than watching someone who peaked in high school/college spend the rest of their life trying to relive those days? They gone, man. That life, those people, that person you was. Accept it before you're thirty years old and sitting alone with nothing but your memories.
See, this I'll never understand. I couldn't fucking WAIT to leave high school. I was halfway out the door by the time I got my diploma. One of my best friends from high school never adjusted well to life after high school. He'd DM me drunk as hell and venting about how things weren't the same. He's actually doing well career wise but he's miserable and stuck in a rabbit hole of crazy conspiracy theories.
I think his problem is he didn't get to grow out of those days. He just had them taken away. All the good memories tie to the harsh ending, and he probably wants to try and give it a proper goodbye. But it's impossible, cuz what happened is done. Going back into that old lifestyle is inevitably always gonna bring back the pain.
@@nitro8611highschool is when we all have the most extreme emotional highs and lows of our lives due to the fluctuating hormones of puberty. The people that had a lot of really high emotions in highschool are the ones that end up miserable, usually, cuz they're always looking for that big happiness feeling they had as a teenager. The ones that had a lot of extreme lows are the ones that can't wait to get out and who tend to do better afterwards cuz they no longer have those low lows and therefore find life to be easier and happier I have not looked into the actual science begin bf this, I think it would be hard to study, but common sense leads me to believe my theory is mostly true
The fact that the entire cast and crew were willing to agree to sobriety just to look out for Stevo shows how much they cared about each other. They really were good friends which makes what happened to Bam all the more tragic.
The agreement only said they couldn't have alcohol or drugs on set. As soon as fiming wrapped every day they would hit the bars and clubs and steve-o would just go back to the hotel alone, steve-o as a person has way more self control even though his addiction was much worse. He even mentioned this in the video at one point.
@@dubvcronix6584 I absolutely agree Stevo is an incredible example of how someone can return to sobriety from even the most extreme situation and is an awesome dude. My point is they were a group of oddballs who were largely fueled by alcohol and drugs but made sure Stevo had a safe place to work on their project without the temptation or pressure. It would have have been better if they had all stuck with sobriety on and off set but they all have their issues and vices. The fact they went so far with Bam and even fought to keep him on the cast of Jackass Forever even after he slipped shows how decent they all were especially considering the hateful garbage Bam had said about some of them before that.
I used to really like Bam, but now whenever I see him I feel genuinely sad. I’ve been sober from alcohol for almost 3 years now, addiction is truly a bastard.
My friends and I grew up on CKY Terrible influence lmao, but responsible for some of my fondest memories growing up. Addict also, yeah it'll really fuck up your life priorities and perception of reality
Been off of crystal, coke, mdma and nicotine for two and half years now. All cold turkey. You're right. It's, hard... enough to bring you tears at random really. I still don't think I'll ever be normal again, I kind of miss who I was, and that feeling too... but, I made a promise to myself. To give knowing who I really am a chance. I've gone this long, I can't turn back. I won't give up on that, I already know who that person was. I want to know who I can still become.
I remember my brother watching Viva la Bam, and one time i actually sat down and watched with him. I can't recall the "prank" exactly, but it involved him just absolutely tormenting his father. My brother laughed the whole time, but even as a kid I didn't find it very funny. I just remember thinking that he seemed so mean.
yeah it was about that teen anger, revenge against your parents and all that was popular back in the 90's was about the rule of the cool and nothing was cooler than these guys and mtv
I remember thinking it was funny sometimes, bc it seemed like it was in good fun w Phil. It struck me as roughhousing, with the roles reversed for the most part. Bam even tried to justify his actions towards Phil as “dude, he LOVES that shit!“ That was until I saw Bam’s “Chester Rumble” from (I believe?) CKY3 w Phil in which he somersault kicked Phil square in the head, reducing Phil to tears. Phil was actually crying, whimpering in pain both physical and emotional over what Bam had just done to him, and all Bam was doing in return was laughing, going “dId It FeEl LiKe A cHeStEr RuMbLe?” It was then when even I knew at 12/13 years old that Bam was some kind of a narcissistic sociopath. Seeing his downfall now kinda feels like karma in a weird way. He bullied tf outta his own father, calling him fat and whatnot, only for Bam to wind up a fatso himself and look like a haggard loser on top of that. In comparison, Phil somehow looks better than his own son who is 20+ years his junior. 😳
Some people don't get sober after 20 stints in rehab, other people only need 1 try. The difference is the person has to truly want it, if you're heart isn't 100% in recovery you won't get results.
I partied as a kid but never fell to addiction like some of my friends did. Took me many years and lots of fights with friends before i accepted that terrible truth. "You can only save yourself" sadly no one can do it for you. God i miss my friends. I am truly glad you made it.
“I would love to hear something encouraging, that he’s decided to stop blaming all of his problems on other people. I owe everything to my sobriety, and I really made an effort to encourage Bam to choose sobriety. It’s a shame that you can’t make people want to get better. He’s not going to get better because I want him to get better, and I can’t make him want to get better. If he ever does choose recovery then, man, I’m here for him.” -Steve-O in an interview (literally last week)
Steve-o is someone you can strongly tell went through hell, clawed his way out, and is trying SO hard to drag his friend out of it too. For guys who made their living and fame being as reckless and stupid as possible, they are so good at unconditional love while knowing that it means setting limits and pushing them to be better. If you looked back on their early days I feel like Steve-o’s the one you’d expect to not be around nowadays, the one with the tragic end. I’m so impressed and glad for him that he turned it around and is trying to do some good with it for his friends, for however successful he is.
Growing up in that era, most definitely would of never imagined Bam turning out like this and Stevo being sober and fighting for Bam. I had no idea Bam got like this till watching this video. Heart breaking forsure, but mad respect for Stevo to not coddle him what so ever, yet still not turn his back on him ❤ hoping for Bam to have a complete turn around, for himself, for his son, for his friends and family. All those seizures, and covid, and being hospitalized, would make you think would of been his life changing moment 😢
The problem is no one will be able to bring Ryan Dunn back to life. That's the only thing that would help bam. Steve o is not bams best friend. That's what he needs. He needs his best friend but Ryans gone.
Bam Margera is really the greatest long-term example of how there's no amount of love in the world your family and friends can have for you that will save you from what happens when you make hating yourself your only purpose in life.
yeah, my mother died of alcohol and we went through a decade of trying to get her to stop, turned into jaundice and hep c then finally a aneurism that killed her. nothing her loved ones could do would fix and repair. this shit sucks and I agree life is not worth loving for us lower class
Who would have thought Steve-o would turn out to be the wisest and most mature of the Jackass guys after being sober for 15 years. He is an inspiration.
The video where Steve and Johnny are just filming themselves on the streets huffing duster (the one where Steve n Johnny got the matching air duster logo tattoos shortly after) just makes me feel heavy and depressed... I'm so fucking happy I'm in this timeline where they're both happy and healthy
I love bam I wish I could smoke some meth with him Ive been sober for 1 years 5 months but I just have it under control for the time being all you people are crybabies fuck steveo Novak and Johnny fucking AA pussies fuck you
He's a clown. A judgemental addict. He looks down on everyone in recovery. He has no idea what heroin addiction is like. He sits on his high horse and trashed people who have had years under their belt. Now he swindles products. He's not Bam's friend. He's always hated Bam.
Steve-o had to struggle to get by, Bam was a spoiled child compared to him. I think Steve-o understood that he was the one responsible for his own life and he managed to turn it around. That is a true survivor.
That footage of him at the restaurant yelling and stomping around is so disturbing. We get to see a man who had everything reduced to a man child who throws tantrums at age 40.
It won’t be long the guy will be fifty. If he survives, the dude is putting off major Vito vibes. His son is getting older and it’s up to Bam if he wants to be a father or be in a bottle. It isn’t looking good. Folks in his condition with the funds to feed their habits usually end up dead. So it won’t be anyone’s surprise if he ends up stiff as a board.
@@hammertime2455 I agree with you, the HUGE difference everyone is missing is that now he has nothing, before he had everything. Another thing is the guy is over 40 and a dad not 20 like before, another integral distinction. You can still be a kid if you dont have kids.
I recently lost my dad to cancer this last month I remember watching this show and saying something along "I wish I was this kid" and my dad commented that this kids not gonna have a good life having no experience being a adult(or something like that I never really thought of it till now). He was definitely right I don't think it should be controversial to tell someone they're making a mistake on raising their kids instead Hollywood and the world worships this glamorous lifestyle of partying
Your dad was right. I remember being a kid and thinking Bam was living the dream. As an adult I realize how sad and pathetic it really was and that it was just a ticking time bomb headed for disaster.
I always did wonder how particularly the party, especially alcohol became a theme of passage to adulthood. Really we are just poisoning ourselves and causing life-long health problems and slapping "manhood" and "grown btcih" on it
@jace2802 I don't necessarily agree with this opinion. Rich successful adults go to prison and have to start all over just because they went and did some adult stuff..
Dude this guy's bi-polar sounds like it became just too much. Some of that stuff u can't fight it, you have to learn to use it to your will is what works for me so far. I'd recommend just blocking it out but that's easier said than done
As someone who also had an addict for a father; my heart goes out to Pheonix. It's sad to know that distance from your own parent is probably the best course of action.
The kid clearly has fetal alcohol syndrome, and she should be held accountable for enabling Bam, drinking/using while pregnant. Then crying wolf and collecting child support. Bam is a shitbag but without him she’d probably be smoking meth in a trailer park collecting welfare
Thats the saddest thing about this for me. Who knows what damage has been done to that kid with the madness he's witnessed, the hurt from feeling like daddy doesnt care enough to get better, and the very real fear that he isn't going to be alive for much longer. Theres a chance Bam has just succeeded in passing down some generational trauma
@@greenfeather50 It’s horrifying. That kid could go to the best schools, grow up in a nice house with loving parents. Without his grandparents he’d probably be in foster care before high school 😥
Sorry to hear that, but I can relate. The sad thing is, Bam is the child is this scenario. I don't really feel bad for him; grow the hell up, get sober, and be a father. The kid is going to resent him, at some point it's irreparable.
As the child of a pain pill addict (only my father is lucky to have not gotten as bad as Bam), it's difficult to have to watch your own father go down that route. And what's sad is that his son is still a young child and should never have been exposed to this. And yet he has.
I fucking love Steve-o, as a fellow addict I find it really inspiring how he stayed strong through the pain and fame and just becomes better and better.
I hope you will manage to do the same (if you haven't already) and will lead a happy and love-filled life, maybe even inspiring others in turn. I never had to deal with addiction, so I have no idea how tough the struggle is, but I am aware words like mine won't be of much help while going through the process. May there be a huge feeling of accomplishment and pride at the end of it, though!
As someone that beat an 8 year H addiction, I can firmly say that if the addict doesn't genuinely want to get better then they won't, doesn't matter how many people try to help or how many forced rehabs there are. I consider myself lucky every day that I broke the cycle but it is honestly so hard to do, especially for someone like Bam that's been doing it for decades, but it is possible.
Yeah I was hooked on pretty much everything for a while - pain pills, benzos, coke, crack, meth, heroin, booze. Pain pills was the one that lasted the longest and was the hardest to quit. But my second wife came into my life and helped me clean up. But yeah, I was never able to quit until I really wanted to and had a relationship on the line. She just left me on 6/19 after seven years.. I've been hard pressed not to go back to drugs after nearly 7 years of being clean. I actually made an inquiry about some coke the other day. I need to hold strong or all of that progress will be wasted. I was hoping to have kids by now and be moving forward in life with my wife and never looking back. But shit happens I guess. This is the first real test of my sobriety.
There are some cases when h can be quit 'involuntarily' i.e. change of location. I lost my flat in the city and had to move in w/parents in country -- that worked! But with Bam, he's always gonna have that fame and the hangers-on wanting to use with him.
Yup 15 years using two clean. No one could get me to stop, not my parents originally, then my wife, not even the births of my children got me to quit. It took the loss of everything for me to finally realize how much of my life I wasted being wasted. It was on me and only me, once I was able to make that change in my mind it’s been easy. Unfortunately that took me 15 years. Anyone can come back they just need to have it click in their heads. Grew up loving Bam,CKY, and the jackass crew. Steve-O came back so Bam can too just needs to hit his own rock bottom.
I think this just goes to show how much of a genuinely good guy Steve-o is, even when everybody is railing against Bam he's still stood right there trying desperately to help him
The entire cast all still loves Bam, he was supposed to be in the new Jackass movie but when they found out he was still using they told him he had to go to rehab and Bam refused and basically tried to smear all of them.
Bam went from being one of the coolest guys on the planet to being that crazy guy that hangs around the bus station ranting at everyone around him,sad to see but he's bought it all on himself, literally everyone has tried to help him but the only person that can really help Bam is Bam
This was so sad. Although,I noticed throughout Bam's decisions, he almost never takes personal accountability in interviews or anything. He blamed all of the things he was feeling on everyone else, eventually doing harder drugs to run away from the responsibility. Great video and cautionary tale.
It's very frustrating for me watching interviews with him because I'm always hoping for him to turn the corner and start taking accountability, but without fail he deflects and blames
Bam is living the life my dad lived. Abandoned us, run away into a bottle. Every few years, he'd pop up or call, say he was clean and wanted to start over. Two weeks later, he'd be drunk or gone again. That happened until I got the call at 19 that he had died, alone in a hospital from liver failure. I never felt loss when I got that call, because he had already been dead to me for years. Bam, you will realize you fucked up, but unless you realize soon, you won't figure it out until you're dying.
Yeah man. I sobered up 6 years ago after almost killing myself with booze and mental debilitation. Knowing where my dad was, helped me see I was almost there too. And how I'd end up at his age if not dead already. He's almost died many times and I've felt nothing. Just sadness for the man buried inside him who is prisoner and hasn't come out in decades.
My bio father who left us for a young woman and the bottle did us all a favor and stopped contacting us past me being the age of 5. He passed back in 2007 when I was deployed overseas, and I didn't care that much. Now that I'm pushing 40 with kids, lots of what ifs with his passing. It's sad he'll never have seen any of his lineage and how good they turned out. Not that he cared that much anyway. Life is life!
people like to blame illegal drugs... but alcohol is ALWAYS the one that takes people out. It's the most insiduous and mentally manipulative drug there is.. and it's promoted everywhere
Steve O is such a wise and open character now. He’s clearly ferociously intelligent and incredibly lucky to have survived his years of addiction. Him and Johnny Knoxville have worked tirelessly to support Bam. Unfortunately some addicts just can’t be helped. It’s a terminal illness for some individuals and is heartbreaking to watch.
I beat it. It wasn't easy, I used heroin for 5 years and have been clean for 3.. I've been on both sides and I can say living clean is so much more rewarding.. it's hard sometimes bc you can't just run and hide from your problems, you have to face them.. But its such a better life. Luckily I have a family that cares about me and never gave up on me. I can imagine how hard it is for people who have no one, my heart goes out to them.

As good as it is to quit drugs and alcohol and turn your life around, some people just hate every aspect of life, like myself. I just want to die, nothing will ever change my mind and no advice I will ever listen to because I know it is all BS. While I am here i'll just live it out abusing substance with no care in the world. I hate this place, I will go out abusing substance as respectfully and peacefully as I can, some of us just don't belong on this world, Bam is one of them. I wish more people had the brain too see it and the balls to either fight back or self destruct.
Wow. I feel so bad for his son. This whole video was Bam blaming EVERYONE else. Nothing is ever Bam’s fault. He cannot take any responsibility for his own actions and until then he’ll never get better.
It poses the question: Where were CPS? They can interfere on much less, but here they just ist ignored this VERY public mess? But that probably only works with people who DON'T have an army of lawyers and a padded bank account...🤷
@@garryiglesias4074 Yep. I don't like it when this type of behavior gets attributed to typical teenager behavior. The loudest and most destructive will always get seen and heard and therefore remembered. Teenager that don't cause trouble don't catch people's attention. They won't stick in your mind.
Great video, very informative. I've struggled with addiction 25 years and just got outta prison and I'm now 15 months sober. Couldn't have done it without the will to want a different life. No one can do it for you. You just have to want something different and the only person who can give it to you is yourself. Take responsibility for every single thing in ur life. I'm not saying it's the only way, it's just what worked for me. Thanks for the video.
Bam is tragically a really good anti drug PSA, better than anything anti-drug companies can make. It’s horrible to watch, and you want to feel bad but to an extent you can’t. He caused his own spiral despite people trying to help numerous times!
Brandon Novak is another one. And for the girls, Cubana Lust. If you google her, her most recent mugshot next to her peak modeling photos come up. It is surreal to see what drugs did to that chick.
Yep, the government could use him as one of many examples of where substance abuse can lead when they legalize all drugs! We'll be needing proper drug education (i.e. harm reduction) and honest deterrence is one portion of that.
@@twinkiebandit0933brandon novak isn't a cautionary tale, lol. Dudes life has been turned around for almost a decade now and is making bank as a motivational speaker.
The issue with crippling drug abuse is it is just a mask for deeper underlying issues. Take the drugs away and things could spiral out of control lethally for him. Its a double edged sword.
*Steve O's full of shit ! He has been so freakin jealous of Bam for many years...Now the tables have turned , he must be in heaven playing the role model on prescription drugs ! People are so clueless, it's not even fun !*
Lmao people riding Steve O here makes me sick. He's an intolerable, egotistical douche who waxes all poetically now to try and sound intelligent. For instance, he introduced some skaters at a Berrics skate challenge. All he had to do was introduce the competitors, but of course had to slowly read out the contestants and make it all about him. He brings up this train wreck to drive views to his stupid podcast. I mean he's got "butthole" hotsauce. He's a fucking child, the fact people look up to him as some sort of intellectual shows how fucking dumb the people who like him are.
@@simonforfan I think so too, at least some sort of aptitude test, ideally there should be mandatory parenting lessons and ongoing therapy to ensure parents are emotionally fit. Imagine how much of an investment that would be in reducing mental health problems and homelessness?
@@kardinmoYou are going full 1984 with it. Nah mate, similar to weapons certification, or CPR certification. Can you do without? Yes. Should you? Probably not. Just go take some parental courses, get fully informed about what comes with children and that your life is now fully dedicated to another for around 16-18 years, ect. I think a large part of what makes horrid parents is them having 0 clue what they are getting into then not knowing what to do with that immense responsibility. I love Steve-O’s heart to extend his arm to him to offer him a better sight on life. He’s been so patient and so stern with him. I hope Bams vision clears and he see’s his purpose.
Erm. Might i suggest looking closer at Steve O? he hasn’t a brain cell to rub together and has proven to be completely complicit and completely compliant with keeping Bam trapped in a human trafficking scheme. Honestly a clown best left in the circus.
I can relate a lot to Bam in this video. Days pass like hours in addiction. Loved ones move on to greater things, friends distance themselves, and before you know it, you’re a past tense of yourself- constantly reminiscing on the “what if…” that has become your life. Been sober for a year, and the greatest hurtle I’ve had to overcome is my revisionist view of my past drug use. I cherry-pick the best of times and tell myself “this is what drugs gave me;” ignoring how much pain encompassed those fleeting moments. I hope Bam can get himself out of the cycle. Living in the past is no way to live.
this comment spoke to me. thank you for writing about this. as genuinely as i can say this from behind a screen, you're a good person. my addiction is killing me and i'm a young person, i'm not looking to end up anywhere like Bam, as someone who sees myself in a younger Bam.
i abuse drugs and alcohol because self improvement is a cope for people like me you quit bc you had potential and people around you knew that and believed in you some of us have nobody to cheer us on and already know how fcked we are my dad told me to my face he should of pulled out and i agree
I was a sheltered suburban kid. What starts the alcoholism? Is it to numb a pain for something that you take responsibility for? I'm genuinely curious. As I paraphrase George Carlin, sometimes the purpose of our lives is to serve as a warning for others
Bam always came across as a sadistic narcissist on Jackass. He is always abusing people putting them up to horrible things, but he hardly ever took the punishment himself. It shows in his words how he views Novak and Steve-O. He always saw them as lesser than him, and his pride is why he cannot admit he has a problem. He is the great Bam, genius, wonderkid, gets away with anything he wants. How can a person who got away with beating up his own father ever see that his actions have consequences.
Im with you there. I liked everyone of the crew except him. He was also ridiculous with Ehren all the time, and got the others to be the same way. Also that's twice he's been accused of r#cism.
Bam's problem is, he's never been told no. From the age of being a kid and his parents filming and condoning everything he did, up to being an adult and having every crazy idea he comes up with indulged and filmed for movies, he's never ever been told "no, you can't do that". Now he's an adult, and having never been told no he thinks that all of his behaviour should be indulged and humoured; he should be allowed to drink, do all sorts of drugs and address anyone however he wants, and no one is allowed to take offence, or take it seriously, or ask him to address his own behaviour. He firmly believes he should be able to do whatever he wants and make all sorts of demands, and people should give in to them, such as access to his child while he is f**ked up on whatever it is he's doing. Obviously the person ultimately to blame for how he is now is Bam himself, but the people who started that fire and continued fuelling it are the people around him.
Thing is, he had ample opportunity to learn the value of NO. He just hasn't wanted to grow up, and is paying the consequences of that denial. That's why he surrounds himself with yes men. It's all on him now, some people just never hit rock bottom, he's bound to end collecting cans to sell em to recyclers, live under a bridge, fade into the night. Hopefully he can enjoy his self-made finale
Exactly. He was a spoiled brat and his parents were his first enablers. They realized that they could make money off of him and got him started. Bam has been casually inflicting violence on other people for decades. Turns out that it's not as funny when the cameras aren't rolling and he's not getting paid to do it. He's never had to take responsibility for anything in his life and has never had to acknowledge that HE is the problem. Instead all he does is bitch about how Knoxville sold him out and how everyone is out to get him, how he's so emotionally broken because of Ryan Dunn's death, etc. I'm sorry to anyone who feels disappointed in what he's become, but the signs were always there.
It's hard to believe Dunn was allowed to be a public menace on the streets for as long as he was. You'd think they'd take his license away permanently instead of risking the lives of other drivers and pedestrians.
Everyone knew and did nothing about it. Everyone tends to forget that there was someone else in the car as well. No sympathy at all for him. It wasn't a tragedy, it was straight up murder, nothing to be celebrated.
So true. I was scratching my head with why on earth would Tom put sad background music while explaining that this dude basically turned his blood stream to alcohol stream and drove at the speed of light but thankfully only killed himself and his buddy who let him do that in the first place. It's such a relief that no other people got hurt by this menace on the road
enabled. I supppose teenagers aren't different from children who make it big. A lot of actors and famous people go bonkers on this, that, or the other. For adults it's not that different (Kan)ye trips on ego. Many of them do anything to get attention. People all learn by falling down, wanting to stand up. Bam basically got paid to fall. That's one messed up mental trip... Even without that: The attention, being recognised everywhere you go, access to whatever you want, people willing to do whatever you ask of them. Parents who don't seem to have a clue - calling him bam (while laughing, I suppose). Vito as an uncle... dude. The whole metoo bit we see today has a lot to do with that enabling of detrimental behavior. A lot of high profile people numb themselves to deal with stress. Or, like said, go with the pride, denial, whatever keeps them going. Trump comes to mind as well. Boundaries... It's sort of sad half of them were mental wrecks willing to do anything for attention... And Mtv saw $$$. For Bam, Dunn and Steveo specifically, that worked out really poorly. Rock bottom became so much more avoidable.
The real victims in this whole situation is Phoenix. I grew up with an alcoholic step dad and it’s shocking how much Bam reminds me of him. I don’t know if Bam has ever abused his son, but the alcoholic rages, screaming, yelling and cursing….it’s horrific. Not to mention it’s all happening in PUBLIC for the whole world to see. At 25, I still suffer every day with PTSD from the abuse and horrible incidents I witnessed…but I can’t even imagine how horrific it would be to have video evidence of all that permanently scattered around the internet. I truly hope Phoenix is being taken care of and will receive therapy if necessary as he ages. Alcohol and drugs are literally the devil….but you can’t just blame them for everything. There’s still a person behind the addiction and that person is supposed to be a father. I’m so sorry for Phoenix. I truly am.
it's the kind of thing that, even if he's not directly abusing his son, it's guaranteed the poor boy is witnessing it and it's genuinely causing trauma. tho it's probably worse if the dad is hurting or bullying the boy, it can be somewhat more confusing to have trauma symptoms from seeing that side of his dad, second hand abuse by seeing his mom or other loved ones abused by his dad, and generally the pain and fear of an unstable and explosive parent who is constantly lashing out at others, even if not at phoenix himself. can create all sorts of issues like fear of confrontation or self destructive people pleasing at the very least. hopefully the supports in his life will guide him to the right therapy that acknowledges that he probably carries emotional scars no matter what and doing therapy for it can make a world of difference
The guy never had anyone telling him "no". I feel like he doesn't want to stop his downward spiral. Its crazy that he went from a talented young person to a total burn out.
Replace “talent” with lucky. Bam was an OK skater that the media quickly latched onto because of the Jack*** show and an ultra marketable name. Other than have some guts to perform some mediocre stunts, Bam was just lucky.
the part about bam needing a break from his son was maybe the most upsetting of all his antics. nobody in bam’s steadily-shrinking circle deserves the insanity he’s putting them through, but definitely not his infant son. this is just a sad situation for everyone involved. i hope bam will accept the help he so desperately needs before it’s too late.
He will eventually run out of money because he's bleeding it very, very fast. I think that might be his wake up call. Either that or it's really too late.
Pride looks like his biggest weakness. Maybe humility is why Steve-O was able to recover? He did always seem to take the worst pranks with good humour.
So many kids deserve better. If the mom stayed sober and keeps Bam away, then his son might be ok. It’s definitely traumatic to have a parent like this and worse cuz it’s so public but the kid is in a better position thanks to the support money provides. Not trying to diminish anyone’s trauma but there are parents objectively worse.
@@TheJaxMG People have it worse, sure, but it sure as hell doesn't take away from that poor kids reality. Even if the mom stays sober and keeps Bam away, boys still gonna grow up without a father figure. Money can't provide that.
As someone who grew up with Jackass, listened to CKY, and basically absorbed every bit of footage I could come across involving Bam Margera and the rest of the related crew, this was an incredibly well done documentary. It feels like I've reawakened a part of my soul that I had grown out of and left dormant for years.
@@quicksilverlacey I never got into H.I.M, I went in on all of CKY’s albums though. I used to blast 96 Quite Bitter Beings and Flesh Into Gear from my car speakers out the high school parking lot thinking I was so cool

Knows so many artists and songs in literally every genre and era of the genre. He swears although CKY is not the most popular band in the world, the riff of 96 quite bitter beings has to be the most recognizable riff in the world, in his opinion. I think I may have to agree personally.
I’ve never seen anyone piss away MORE deserved and undeserved opportunities and buy into their own public persona more than this guy. While I don’t wish Bam anything but healing, happiness and sobriety, I don’t exactly see that happening.
Man seeing this has given me such a deep respect for Steve-o. I always liked the guy but he really is a hero for sticking by Bam and repeatedly believing in his ability to get better without ever enabling his bad habits. What a legend 👏
You can't help them if they don't want to be better. They have to have the initiative to change their life fir the better, until then every well meaning attempt at help will be at best poimtless and at worst hurt the ones offering to help. Addicts can and do destroy their entire family's lives in their pursuit of their poison of choice without a shred of remorse or hesitation.
Im a recovering crack and heroin addict. Started at 16 and used for 17 years. Im clean now but the syruggle is a daily one. U have to remember the consequences of using. Its never just once. Once u relapse it can go on for days, weeks, months and years. Never get into it. It can be a life changing decision. Alot of my ex friends are still in the mix. Its sad to see 42 year olds still stuck in that dumb lifestyle
Hope you’re doing well, it’s a tough battle to face everyday and it take so much strength to continue going. I hope you’ve forgiven yourself and continue doing well❤
Don't understand why people feel so sad for Bam, the man got more chances than most people on this planet. Save your tears for people who actually deserves it.
Honestly? The sympathy isn't directed towards him as a person but rather the struggle with addiction. I think a huge heavy majority of those still following this story do so because they have also struggled with addiction, or have been severely impacted by it, and can relate. If you read the comments sections of any of these videos related to addiction full-stop, almost all of them talk about how they watch these videos because they are X-amount of time clean, want to remember why they got clean, and want to spread love, hope, and prayers for anyone going through the struggle too. A&E's Intervention clips show this, as does all Jack*ss content posted on RUclips. I struggled with alcohol and now seek out these types of videos because the comments sections are filled with so much positivity coming from people who are doing the exact same thing. This will be an odd comparison, but those of us who do this, it's like reading news that someone you hated in high school was diagnosed with cancer: They're still jerks but you still hope they get better. I hope this answers your question. Much love and many prayers sent everyone's way 🙏 ❤️
Frankly, it's mostly just because I grew up watching him and it's sad to see him being the only one that couldn't maintain sobriety like others in the jackass crew. I will say that I don't really feel as bad for him anymore. He's had so many chances. I'll be happy to see him get sober if it ever happens, but I highly doubt that'll happen at this point.
Steveo seems like genuinely the best friend anyone could ever have. the fact the bam fell in spite of this unbelievable ironclad support is purely his own selfishness
It's obviously not an assessment I can make confidently, but from their attitude, I think Stevo even when deep in his spiral still had his heart full of love for other people, and that's why he was able to dig himself out of his pit. Meanwhile I haven't seen any such behavior from Bam. Also Bam has bipolar disorder, which is a bitch and a half to deal with without any substances already. (I have bpd 2, Bam seems to have BPD 1 which is harder to manage). I empathize with him but it seems he is so lost in himself, and is also allowing more selfish behavior to bubble to the surface. It's scary but at this point his minds seems made up with complete self destruction. He's had numerous reality checks, but it seems he won't take them for what they are. He's a living tragedy, but at the same time, I don't feel bad for him, just the people who love him and were inspired by him.
Bam is essentially a parody of who he once was. As for Ryan Dunn, I much as I hate to say it, it wouldn't have been very pretty had he lived. The fact that he had been in nearly 2 dozen accidents because of his drinking is a very good indicator that he was well on his way to either killing himself or someone else. Unfortunately, he ended-up killing himself and another person. Had he lived, our view of him likely wouldn't be so rose-colored, as he'd likely have been facing vehicular homicide charges, etc.
@@1017_CK Yours and his only hope. Acts 2 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Man, Steve-O is a golden hearted human being. This story is such a tragedy, and also you managed it respectfully and well researched. This was absolutely heartwrenching to watch: Bam was so brilliant, full of life and with so many loved ones, and he destroyed everything.
I believe Steve-o fills that hole with thinking about helping people, entertaining them and then goes and does that live having a human connection. Very hole filling.
I weas never a JA fan.. Im close enough to their ages thsat I thought it was all stupid-- HOWEVER I always felt like Steve O was a decent guy w a genuine heart. Bam ALWAYS came off to me as someone who thinks too highly of himself..
You should listened his interview 'The Diary Of A CEO' where he tells hist story including his breaking point and staying sober. It was truly refreshing- especially that somehow he was my favourite for the whole cast.
My mom passed away last week and was all I could think of when watching this was how much Bam Margera reminded me of her before she passed. She struggled with her mental health and coped with heavy substance use, spoke much like Bam does in blaming the world for their self-hatred. I really, really do hope that Bam breaks the cycle, because those he loves will hurt so much if he continues this path of self-destruction.
@@lalin2678 tyvm. She suffered from paranoid schizophrenia with auditory hallucinations but refused to go to therapy and take meds. Instead it was abusing pain meds and alcohol, (from what we know). It's been okay, I'm going through what my therapist called anticipatory grief, as my mom struggled with this her whole life and it was unfortunately just a matter of time with her until she OD'd. I had to make a hard boundary to try to get her to get the help she needed, but her family is so passive they just enabled this awful cycle of coping. I miss her and just wanted her to get better.
That’s addiction for you sadly, any excuse to use. I’ve been there. I’m so sorry for the pain you are left with and hope you can remember some happy times with your mum.
Bam is and always has been a spoiled brat. As a 40 odd year old he still has the mentality of a teenager, lashing out and blaming everyone else when he doesn’t get his way. He made millions in his early 20s, which is probably the worst possible thing that could have happened to him with the kind of mentality he has. He’s never had any discipline or had to respect any kind of authority. You have to hand it to Steve-O for not giving up on Bam and doing everything within his power to help. If Bam can’t take inspiration from someone like Steve-O, a man who has recovered from inhuman levels of addiction and completely turned his live around, then I think this whole sorry mess is only going to go one way for Bam. As a human being, it’s hard to watch someone suffering as much as he is, but at this point only Bam can help Bam and I just can’t see it happening.
I agree. I'm an alcoholic and drug addict as well (7 years and 18 days clean as of 8/2/23) and while it seems like a lot at the time, actually taking responsibility for your own actions & giving up whatever substance it is that you're abusing, that's, in hindsight, the EASIEST part. Staying clean and rebuilding your entire life around your sobriety, that's the "hard work" part, on top of whatever you've got going for yourself, for the rest of your life. As much as I'd love to state otherwise but no way that's gonna happen for Bam unless he's doing a complete 180.
I do agree what you are saying here. I've been following Bam's journey since late 90s, his videos contain hundreds of red flags about unhealthy boundaries around his family. I do appreciate the parents wanted to support him but if I may say, allowing him everything without taking any responsibility for his actions hugely contributed to the person he has become today. There is one thing to joke with your parents, another one is humiliate people etc. His whole idea of ' I don't have an issue with addictions because I drink-use less than Steve O or Brandon' is just upsetting. I honestly hope he gets to the point when he recognises the need for change. A couple of years ago I saw a documentary with him, he was trying to lose weight and practice skating again. I was happy to see this that time but soon realised he is doing even much worse now, it was just a very short period of more stabile mental heath and less alcohol and drug use.

when i was bingewatching intervention during a snowstorm in college I remember alot of addicts would keep their heads covered with a scarf/shawl/hood. never thought about why but curious so many do it.
Bam doesn't want help. He doesn't think anything is wrong. His childhood was filled with reinforcement for his delinquent behavior and he leaned into his "Bam" moniker so hard it became his entire personality. To him, giving that up means giving up the very thing that makes him who he is. It's essentially death, in his eyes. It's why he's so unwilling to grow up, move forward, and improve. He's exactly where he wants to be.
exactly, he is a child seeking attention and putting his self depreciating anti social behaviour for attention, his tempter tantrum dysfunctional throwing stunts are always on camera for the world to see, that is the ONLY METHOD he knows will get him attention, he isnt struggling with substance abuse, he's struggling with attention abuse, he kept getting attention as a positive reinforcement for his dysfunctional behaviour, he keeps doing it. The moment he gives up being a celebrity, the moment he stops pulling anti social stunts on camera, will be the moment he's truly ready to start fixing his life
I was an alcoholic for 8 years and quit drinking at 28. Now I've been sober 6 years. I'm so glad I learned from my dad's tragic alcoholism and these type of situations. I watched an episode where he broke dishes and screamed at his girl to clean it up until she did. He was sober. His addiction issues were only a part of his problems as a human. Bipolar disorder is serious and people keeps skipping over that. Thank you for mentioning his issues with BPD in this video. For anyone struggling with Bipolar disorder, please accept that lifetime meds and therapy is a fact if life and that your loved ones deserve you loving yourself and them enough to do so. Selfcare isn't selfish. Selfcare isn't weakness.
Not totally sure about the lifetime meds since there are different variations of BPD that call for certain timeframes of certain medications (if they are even necessary), but I am a million percent on-board with lifetime therapy. And it doesn't need to come from a "licensed" therapist either: Can come from someone important in your life who is just there to listen and nothing else. Maybe mirror what you said but that's about it.
@@SirJoelsuf1 BPD doesn't have any meds approved and there aren't types. Bipolar (which Bam is diagnosed with) requires a lifetime of meds and there are types (1, 2, cyclothymia) . There is no remission, we have it forever and it is shown to get worse with age. BPD can go into remission and is shown to get better with age.
I’ve been an addict since I was 9 I’m 41 so almost my whole life I’m in active recovery now & trying to come out on the other side but I have 4 sis and 2 bro that are also addicted to drugs but for 3 of mY siblings they suffer from bipolar and mental disorders and let me say what I difference it is when they are actively using I tell them all the time bipolar & drugs do not mix and does not need to be mixed so if Bam suffers from bipolar disorder it could make getting sober 99% harder for him and that is why it could preach it to his struggling friends but can’t seem to find the light at the end of the tunnel for his own life his reality is altered and trust me I do understand more than anyone that it is up the the individual to want and be willing to get help to quit and get better but some of them struggle and really just need someone to really listen and feel that they care for them me personally could care less if anyone cares for me cause all I need is our lord Jesus but I have run into and have helped some that all they needed was to feel that someone actually cared and they to had a mental illness. Bam can come out of this we need to pray for his recovery from this evil situation may God bless him & deliver him from his darkness may anyone struggling find a happy place and life in peace and harmony until the end of our days
This won't stop until the guy loses his family, all his money, and his friends. People with very little insight into their own mind and are very emotionally immature like Bam have to reach rock bottom. Many can figure it out before then, but not someone like Bam. He doesn't have the mentality for it. He has to lose everything before he can recover.
He's pretty much about to lose it all by now. He alienated his friends, especially Novak who pretty much hates him now, his family is a step away from just giving up on him because simply nothing has worked, with many of them flatout given up on him. His money is probably not gonna last very long too.
@@KB-tf8vpI agree, unfortunately. I think many of us have watched these people from afar over the years and it's amazing that some have come out of that lifestyle to be better on the other side. But Bam is so far gone for so long. His brain is permanently altered from years of drug use. I think he is able to capitalize on his past fame enough to keep enablers coming. Even if that stops and he's left with nothing but himself and the drugs, I think he will still choose the drugs. I'm just waiting to hear about him living on the streets or ending up dead. Those are the only two options left. Such a sad downfall.
I’ll say this, I am very proud of Steve-O and Novak for getting clean and bettering themselves. Bam on the other hand refuses to get clean, he’s always blaming other people for his own problems, has burned many bridges, including burning bridges with his family. As of now, Bam is too far gone. While he was still causing trouble beforehand, I feel like the true beginning of his downfall happened after the death of Ryan Dunn. Again, he was already going down a dangerous path, but Dunn’s death was what truly drove Bam over the edge. He’s been given plenty of chances and he fucked each chance up.
Seeing some people blame Bam's parents for his issues since he was coddled as a kid, and I can tell you 100% that it is still Bam's responsibility to shape up himself. There are plenty of people who had been "coddled" as kids who shaped up when they got themselves into enough hard times in life to where they said "oh shit, I fucked up" and made their way back to self-discipline. Yeah, Bam's parents didn't help set him straight, but Bam isn't some shitty 18 year old partier: the dude is 40+ with kids and living on his own. He is more than far along enough to where blaming his folks is moot point.
spare the rod bro.. your upbringing impacts who you become it can be a big impact or a small one. Bam just happened to be a product of bad parenting and his own bad choices. nothing wrong with people pointing either point out.
@@TheMercTvso your point is if they hit him he’d be better now? No. He is making his own choices. Blame is his. Everyone who is addicted has to eventually face themselves or die
Yeah I was addicted to nicotine from second hand smoke. Born pre nature & spent 2 months in an incubator. Was a funny joke for family to get me drunk as a kid. Was given ounces from of weed to sell in grammar school. I went through withdrawals that could have killed me at the age of 21. I lost my best friend too in just as tragic as an accident, only it was in a boat. I changed shit because I wanted a better life. For me. I didn’t even have anyone to cheer me on. I had to start all over. & you know what it still fucking sucks. It’s been 5 years, 1 month, 3 days & it still fucking sucks. But the worst day sober is better than the best day as an addict. This asshole will never learn that
It’s such a sham when people JUST blame the parents. Parenting doesn’t come with a manual, or even a brochure. There are books, but no book can 100% accurately account for each child as an individual. If your parents are abusive, that’s one thing, or even being neglectful, but parents try their hardest to do right by their kids. Yet, if their kids fuck up in ANY way, it’s ALWAYS the parents’ fault. Pathetic. It’s like society is allergic to personal responsibility.
He appeared on Dr Phil asking for help. He was so out of it and made absolutely no sense in any conversation they had. His wife also appeared and the way he treated her and talked to her was unbelievable. I agree with the comment that as a kid he was never told “No”, which only continued into his teenage and adult life. I also saw an interview with Johnny a few years ago. I was so impressed with how he had gone to rehab and got himself and his life back. I was really surprised that all the drugs left him fairly well. There was no permanent brain damage or serious health issues. He grew up quite quickly and seemed to be a mature and responsible adult.
I'm also surprised about Steveo. He can actually string sentences together and he doesn't slur at all. Obviously he sounds like a smoker but it's not too bad. Bam even when he's "sober" sounds like he's seriously messed up. The problem is that life has always rewarded his behavior. Being a D bag is a detremement to 99.9% of the population but these guys got a pass and became some of the most successful people on the planet because of it. That was inevitably going to end poorly for at least a few of them.
at this point I can't even feel bad for this guy. He has thrown away every opportunity he had. you can only keep trying to help for so long until people stop caring and you are left alone
As someone who loved and adored bam, seeing him on this continuous downward spiral while everyone in his life continues trying to help him, is so depressing. despite april and phil being such carefree parents that did enable his behavior, their care and love for him even now is so evident. bam just doesn’t want to get better at this point but i still can’t stop hoping he’ll get it together.
Well, you invoked my hobby horse, so here I go again. You cannot be caring yet carefree parents. Parents are not friends, parents are not co-stars, and parents are not stunt buddies. I have 6 children, and none of my children are my friends. My responsibility and my duty is to prepare them for adulthood, and to give them the tools to have fulfilling lives. Bam’s parents did him no favors by being besties. Now that he is an adult, his mother tries to erect the guiderails she ignored 30 years ago, to no avail. I wish I could say she is unique, but she is like many parents who have to watch their child spiral into a living hell, and she like many are left to regret the past. Bam’s talents now go to waste, his potential unrealized. That’s true for way too many. Parents need to have the courage to ignore the desire to be the carefree buddy. They need to see the lies they tell themselves. Being carefree is really being careless, and few things done to a child are more harmful, aside from outright abuse.
Dude! Seriously! This whole video was about sad things but that was among the biggest of bummers. Glad his hard work is paying off in these recent years.
yeah dude what the fuck! if you ask anyone who was a jackass fan, or just around during that time, to name someone from Jackass, I bet wayyy more would instantly say "Steve-o" than "Bam Margera"
@@mandapanties Never got into Jackass personally as a kid, I remember seeing it on the TV once and my father liking the movies. I'm 30 now for reference, but the only names I actually remember are "Steve-O" and "Johnny Knoxville." Until this video I thought Bam was some side character who hit fame then went on his own project because I recalled hearing of "Viva La Bam" when I was a teenager, and fucked up royally somewhere. NEVER would have guessed he was the main guy behind everything from the start. About the only thing I remember about Bam is that he hates snakes and had some gag where he was thrown into a fake snake pit and fucking lost it.
Bam's behavior is nothing but spoiled temper tantrums fueled by drug & alcohol abuse. He need recovery treatment and severe therapy/mental health care too. You can tell he has an inflated sense of self and no one has ever said no to him. It's sad as an adult who was once so popular, but reminds me of the childhood actors that struggled to transition to adulthood. Great, in depth video!!! Also, glad to see Novak doing well. I met him a couple times when I believe he was at his worst.
One major issue that contributes to everything else is that he blames everyone else for his issues, not himself. Steve-o and his wife are absolute savagely loyal too, huge props to them.
This was a great exposé Tom. Seriously well done. Been following Bam for over 20 years. I purchased the OG cky vids way back in the day and that’s how I found out about bam. It’s been heartbreaking to watch Bam spiral. As someone who also overcame addiction, it’s not pretty, it’s not fun, but the reward is amazing. I have 6 years free of drugs and alcohol after a sever addiction of opiates, as well as alcohol had my life in constant turmoil. Praying for the best outcome for Bam, as his parents are not getting younger and the effect their deaths would have on him would be devastating. I know we all want the best for him, hoping he finds what’s right for him!
I just have to say, that Steveo is such an amazing fucking person man, I have enormous amounts of respect for him for all that he's done for his community and his friends. Secondly, I grew up watching Bam, and I truly hope for him to come back from the edge that so many of us have been stuck on.
The last time I saw Bam speaking coherently and sober was the interview at Ryan Dunn's crash site. He was sober and raw with actual emotion, I think that was the real end for him as well. It seems 3 people actually died there that day.
The last I saw him was during his custody fight for his son. He's been sober for a while last I checked (as of writing this I haven't finished the video and I don't know how much that gets covered or if he has relapsed again)
Only morons believe that. Even Ryan tried to help him and actually cut him off years before he died. Bam has been on crack and pills since the haggard days. Bam is just a forever teen who can’t grow up
@@MyCommentCT who’s that? Ryan and his friend are the only people who died. Only ugly morons say bam died because he’s been on crack, pills, and drinking problem even before haggard. The guy is a adult loser
This makes me so sad, because he was such a funny personality, very talented with video editing, and he seemed like a good guy. He was even friends with Ville Valo from HIM, and directed a few of their music videos. When Ville got sober, Bam talked shit about him too and dropped him. The heartagram symbol hes obsessed with is the logo of the band. Its so obvious that hes pissed at everyone who sobers up, because he can't. All his friends are either dead or sober and he cant handle it.
‘It’s so obvious he’s pissed at everyone who sobers up because he can’t’ - I think this is really accurate & common amongst people with addictions. I stopped drinking in my 20s (not an addiction, I just don’t enjoy it) and some people would take it so personally, even though it didn’t affect their night at all. It was just the idea that someone could have fun without alcohol & that someone had control over their drinking habits triggered them. Bring that mentality to a person who has failed at sobriety like Bam, and it’s easy to understand where all that recent anger is coming from - although his violent actions can never be justified. He’s seeing his friends excel in different ways after sobriety & he’s stuck in the past, still doing the same crap 15-20 years later.
I think VV always kept some distance between him and Bam and that led to Bam hating him. Remember that "open letter" he had a friend read to VV before he deleted the video? He accused VV of never saying "thanks" for any of the stuff Bam did for HIM and never really being his friend.
Bam is the product of his parents letting him do whatever he wanted as a child. I get being the rebellious teen but there comes a point where you need to put your foot down and put a stop to that shit. Bam was free to run wild and this is what happened. That and drugs too.
Been sober for 166 days now and if I already didn’t want to drink before this was a good reminder that I’m absolutely fine without it lmao. Like many have stated, you have to want to be sober. Even with the traumas I’ve faced in my childhood/early adult life I still had to make the decision to want to live. I hope it isn’t too late for him, but from the way it looks times just about out. Dude still thinks he’s in his 20s.
It won't be easy but with determination and resolve, you got this. Please be sure to form a circle of your friends to support your sobriety for the tough moments that usually spring up. Just having someone to talk to can do wonders to keep you on track. I pray for you and everyone that has decided enough is enough and who choose to live. Kind regards.
Man Steve-O's actually a really good guy, I always took him for just some "live fast and die young and don't give a crap about whoever you hurt along the way" kind of guy, but he genuinely cares about people and strove to become a better and stronger person. He's not a jackass, he's an inspiration!
really wild what sobriety does to a guy I could rant about how fantastic it is to see current Steve-o but I'll boil it down to him being a great figure to look up to if you're at a low point. I mean, HE of all people got his stuff together, so others definitely can as well.
I know this video is about Bam, but man, Steve-O is just such a genuinely good person. He really turned his life around and put in some imaginable hard work to do so. I hope Bam takes notes from his friends and grows tf up. He looks a mess, and he isn't just ruining his own life he has a kid as well. Smh.
@@Burgundy-yo6f "Sp? Who cares! When u f up your highways in yr yoooof? There r difficulties ." ..... What did you say? "Sp? (???) Who cares when you fuck up your highways (???) in your youth? There are difficulties." ... OK, I think I got some of that, but if you're speaking in your own special words, who's gonna know what you're saying?
As a person in long-term recovery (6.5 years off heroin and coke) it truly pains me to see Bam spiral as far as he has. I remember how utterly fucking hopeless life was when I was in the thick of my addiction, but I also know how much better life can get when youre clean and can stay clean. You rebuild important interpersonal relationships, you get better job opportunities and are actually able to hold down a job, your mental health is stable, and you wake up feeling hopeful instead of wanting nothing more than to just die. I hope Bam can turn it around for himself because nobody deserves to live in such a miserable, lonely state, but he has to want it for himself. Nobody can get sober for you, nobody can want it for you.. you have to do the work and take back control of your own life or you'll end up dead, in prison, or completely fucking miserable and alone.
I feel so sorry for him and his young child, who just wants his father. I've been sober 11 years, I will never go back to that life. I hope he finds his way.
I don't understand how Bam can't see that his actions are his own fault. He blames everyone else for his alcoholism. He's blamed his parents, his partner, his friends, and even his own son as reasons for his addiction. I understand addiction is awful and he uses alcohol as a coping mechanism but at some point, he has to realize it's not worth the destruction it is causing not only to himself but to everyone else around him. The reality is if he doesn't get clean then alcohol will kill him but Bam won't ever get sober unless he actually wants to.
Addiction makes you blind... I've been in recovery for 3 months after rehab and only when doing the 12 steps am I really beginning to understand the way this disease poisons your mind and thinking. It hurts to see someone in his position.. I hope he'll get there someday
I think Bam's failure to see his own flaws is the result of the perfect storm that has been his life. He grew up with total freedom to indulge his impulses, got filthy rich, and never really learned to grow up and take responsibility. That coupled with multiple head traumas over the years and heavy substance abuse, its going to fry the best of minds... In order to fix something you need the right tools, and i dont think Bam ever got those tools if you know what im saying
What really hits me is that Brandon Novak, who was off his nut on skag for most of the time is now fully sober & working to help addicts kick their habits. Bam was (mainly) sober & had the world in the palm of his hand back then. How things have changed.
Honesty, the more I watch Bam as I am getting older (I am 45 now), the more I can plainly see that he is a child who never learned the word NO. He was spoiled so much by his parents and given whatever he wanted. He has grown up in front of the camera and for him, the world is a show. He is always acting like a spoiled brat/drama queen who does whatever he wants no matter the consequences or how it affects others. His emotional, psychological and dare I say, cognitive growth was stunted many years ago. He is a man child who acts out on his ID at ALL TIMES and his family and friends always come to his rescue. He never grew up. What we see is a very spoiled and immature man child and the product of his loved ones all acting as enablers. I know he has an addiction, but he also needs to stop being so self-entitled. Look how he screamed at his manager at that club. I WANT TO GO NOW!!! He sounded like a little brat who wants to get his way because he always has. It's sad, but also, the only way to help him is to truly NOT support his bad behavior so that he learns that it is no longer acceptable. I think his parents also need to grow up and stop craving (mostly his mother) the spotlight and wanting to be on camera and famous.
Tbf, being impulsive is also a symptom of both adhd and bipolar, both of which he seems to have. But yeah, his upbringing and early fame probably made it much worse
To solve his substance issues, one would have to solve his Narcissistic personality first. So many people wondering why he can't see the hurt he is causing to himself, and others. Well, Narcissism comes with a ton of "I am always right" and an extreme lack of empathy for anyone but himself. In his state of mind, he is always the victim, he is always right, and everyone is trying to ruin his life and take from him. Because of this it is almost hopeless he will ever be free of addiction.
I don't think he has a narcissistic personality, I mean, he's extremely mentally ill. He's been mentally ill since his childhood and I think people don't fully appreciate all the things that led him to have substance addiction problems, or how significant his mental illness is.
Well, most drugs enhance narcissistic, or very egoistic behavior...so to better such traits and problems thereof working on substance issues would be key. Also I bet he is very delusional and schizophrenic (based on his bevavior) because of the drug abuse and mental trauma, which than can be mistaken with narcissism. Without getting rid of drug influence he won´t be able to do anything in the mental health regard other than get worse, what makes your "armchair psychology solution, "Ey I think he´s just Narcissistic, easy fix blabla" pointless/stupid (sry, but that´s what your text translated to my brain :P).
I’m an alcoholic with 7+ years of sobriety and the story of Bam makes me incredibly sad BUT also grateful that I was able to stop my destructive behaviors. He is living proof that no matter how hard others try the only one that can help an alcoholic is themselves. I hope that Bam can find his bottom and resolve to change his life. 😔
Im going on a year clean from fentanyl. I hear you man it makes me feel proud knowing after 4 years I put the dope down and cleaned my life up while my friends who did it went to overdose or go to jail. Some people can't quit it's like a cancer but hey congratulations to you for that long I hope I can make it that long too
I was adicted to coke for 4 years. In those 4 years alcohol and coke were like peanut butter and Jelly Sandwich. But i was manly on coke. I got myself Help and got clean. To get clean from coke i had to stop the booze. Before the pandemic i had a good work even being manual labor i was happy. One day after the work a co-worker invited me to a beer. It was a hot day. I tooked. What the hell, im clean, i can enjoy life right? Well, now once a week we'd be taking some beer after work. When the pandemic hitted i Lost my job, luckily i found another one home office. The lonelines, the not being able to Cope made me Go to hard liquors. Cheaper and took the pain away. Now os being 3 years im an alcoholic. I drank from Friday until monday late night. I woke up and my heart is beating fast, my bones specially the joints are in pain. I started to watch funny things on youtube to chill and got myself watching Jackass, then steveo talking about being sober and now bam, someone wich i inspired myself as a kid. I feel so Sad, so mad at him and at me. I had nobody to talk to and i can barely walk from pain in my bones. Sorry to vent to you guys.

I began watching this thinking "I'll stop watching when Bam takes responsibility for any of his actions." I watched the WHOOOOOOOLE thing. Great video.
I used to be really jealous of Bam in my youth, cause his whole life seemed like a none stop high life fun fair with little responsibility. A guy who was just incredibly lucky as there was no actual real hard work entailed to earn his millions. Unfortunately, probably because of this, hes now a 25 year old trapped in a 45 year olds body. Look at how his friends have grown up and smartened up. And he's going around wearing the same teenage tat and throwing child fits when he can't get his own way. Its a human tragedy.
25? More like a 14yo with all his hormones still high. I could say the same, wealth without much effort, but somehow he never managed to grow up. My feeling is that somehow the rest of the jackass crew, specially Steve-O will ensure his kid will have a somewhat normal life in the future, still the trauma will be there. I do hope that Bam gets over all this crap and fixes himself, but hope is what most of us have, unfortunaly in no time he will die because of all this.
"A guy who was just incredibly lucky as there was no actual real hard work entailed to earn his millions. " Ok i get you dislike Bam but come on no hard work after decades of skating, filming videos and editing them? You do realize skating takes work right and injuries you can get from that are not good. You pretend here as if Bam was sitting on his coach and MTV just came to him out of nowhere and give him a show + money... When in reality it was his skating movies that allowed him to get the show.
Everything you said is accurate except I would place him trapped at MAX 20, not 25. Probably even younger than that. He's very immature and a spoiled brat.
I was a garbage disposal drug addict for 12 long hard years. I'm clean and sober 6 yrs now. As a addict I can see it clear as day what bam is going through. As a sober addict I can see clear as day what his friends and family are going through. Drugs and alcohol are cancer to the body. They lead you down a path of death and destruction. I hope bam figures it out one day. As a father my heart hurts for his son. He needs a father. Hopefully bam finds the only things important in life, your children, your family, and your true friends.
I'm so glad for you! And I agree, you must have plenty of insights into this behavior as do I. Stay strong 💪 it's always good to hear about those who've survived it ❤️
You are so wise, and have transformed the hell out of your pain. It’s a daily discipline, not just for addicts, but for us all. There are no guarantees, only daily humility. We all need to grasp the humility of addicts, who have walked through hell. Some of us walk through a different hell, and possess the same humility. The fact is, as human beings, we are all the same. Consequences for our actions, have no prejudice, they only show us the truth of our own choices. Good, bad or indifferent. So we are morally obligated to accept them. If only humanity would trust this process, no one would ever be stuck coping with the consequences of someone else’s actions, shoved onto their doorstep, like a steaming, hot, pile of poop. As it is, most of us are. So we shovel through that pile, ignoring how it got there, and get on with our lives, without ever dumping our own pile, at someone else’s doorstep.
I can’t help but be frustrated that nobody thought to confront Dunn about his reckless driving when they knew he was dangerous behind the wheel for years.
Who said that? Wouldn't be surprised he was confronted millions of times. But do these people look like adults who listen to reason, or spoiled manbabies who did what they feel like?
@@aw2584 Well you don't have proof so what makes your the right to jump to that conclusion? That's just something you want to believe because you want to be right. Facts are facts
Damn. This is some high level addiction. He has the money to get the best rehab, has friends that understand, friends who have died from addiction, and a kid, and still can not turn it. Thats wild.
That resentful outburst of Bam saying he saved his friend, that's the addiction talking. If friends could save you, you'd be better. Only you can fix yourself. You have to decide to do the work and consciously change every day and every hour, if need be. Kids don't need names tattooed on your body, they need you, your time, your love and commitment. Love and blessings to every one who takes the path of change; keep going!
Are you speaking in ebonics?
Depends. I would argue that blink-182 are kinda the epitome of personalities that peaked in high school, yet they're still endearing to this day.
The ones that had a lot of extreme lows are the ones that can't wait to get out and who tend to do better afterwards cuz they no longer have those low lows and therefore find life to be easier and happier
I have not looked into the actual science begin bf this, I think it would be hard to study, but common sense leads me to believe my theory is mostly true

Best of luck on your journey friend. Getting sober is an accomplishment!

Terrible influence lmao, but responsible for some of my fondest memories growing up.

He's a sick narcissist
Yeah I felt the same way. I hated how much of a dick he was to his family.
yeah it was about that teen anger, revenge against your parents and all that was popular back in the 90's was about the rule of the cool and nothing was cooler than these guys and mtv
I remember thinking it was funny sometimes, bc it seemed like it was in good fun w Phil. It struck me as roughhousing, with the roles reversed for the most part. Bam even tried to justify his actions towards Phil as “dude, he LOVES that shit!“
That was until I saw Bam’s “Chester Rumble” from (I believe?) CKY3 w Phil in which he somersault kicked Phil square in the head, reducing Phil to tears.
Jackass was OK, but Bam has always a total dick to me. Just another spoilt brat with a narcissistic personality disorder
As someone who has battled with addiction and hitting rock bottom, this is disturbing. But he can't be saved. You can only save yourself.
Some people don't get sober after 20 stints in rehab, other people only need 1 try. The difference is the person has to truly want it, if you're heart isn't 100% in recovery you won't get results.
@@austinkasunic1291 exactly and you have to cut out the enablers and others who par take in the behavior

If he ever does choose recovery then, man, I’m here for him.”
-Steve-O in an interview (literally last week)
yeah don't drink and drive lmfao.
its how you not end up flipping through the air at 130 mph.
I’m so impressed and glad for him that he turned it around and is trying to do some good with it for his friends, for however successful he is.
i love steve o, im glad hes still around
Lol are you kidding are Steve O does is shit on Bam!! Steve O always trashes Bam gtfoh clown
Hell? he was a junkie, hell is not something that you are doing to yourself because you are dumb, noone forced him to be a junkie.
"when you make hating yourself your only purpose in life."
this part hit me really hard; I need to make some changes
Wow
More like hating life.... because it is absolutely worth hating.
You must want to stop. Otherwise no love or God can make you stop. I'm one year clean from the dread yeyo. Never felt better.
yeah, my mother died of alcohol and we went through a decade of trying to get her to stop, turned into jaundice and hep c then finally a aneurism that killed her. nothing her loved ones could do would fix and repair. this shit sucks and I agree life is not worth loving for us lower class

He's a clown. A judgemental addict. He looks down on everyone in recovery. He has no idea what heroin addiction is like. He sits on his high horse and trashed people who have had years under their belt. Now he swindles products. He's not Bam's friend. He's always hated Bam.
Well Johnny Knoxville was the first out of the crew then Steve-O. By time they were trying to get Steve-O Clean, Johnny was already clean.
@farseervisions Exactly. His parents never told him, "No."
@@farseervisions Thank you. Bam has ALWAYS been this way, the drugs make it worse, but this has always been his life.
@@hammertime2455 I agree with you, the HUGE difference everyone is missing is that now he has nothing, before he had everything. Another thing is the guy is over 40 and a dad not 20 like before, another integral distinction. You can still be a kid if you dont have kids.
He was throwing tantrums at 22 and 25 and 27 and 29 and 30 how are you shocked he's doing it at 40
I recently lost my dad to cancer this last month I remember watching this show and saying something along "I wish I was this kid" and my dad commented that this kids not gonna have a good life having no experience being a adult(or something like that I never really thought of it till now). He was definitely right I don't think it should be controversial to tell someone they're making a mistake on raising their kids instead Hollywood and the world worships this glamorous lifestyle of partying
Your dad is a G! R.I.P
Don't push away your friends and people who care about you because they tell you hard truths. That's the difference imho.
What makes a heroin addict want to get clean?
Damn congrats my guy

Ranting at the non-existent people around him at that.

Fully agree, he's always seemed like a mean spirited prick to me as well, and not remotely funny.
Spot on.

Im with you there. I liked everyone of the crew except him. He was also ridiculous with Ehren all the time, and got the others to be the same way. Also that's twice he's been accused of r#cism.
@@ramsfan1st43 People accuse anyone that says anything they don't like of being racist, why the fuck would you use that as any type of valid point?
It's incredible how much the Jackass cast cared for Bam. They offered him so many chances and he messed up but they clearly just love him so much.

@@GronkDroid You're welcome, it was specifically aimed at slow people like yourself.😉👍
As if not having a license would have stopped him.
@@Damaged7 the guy that died with Dunn isn't even mentioned by name in this video :(
I'm confused why everyone feels so bad for him. It's sad but it was his fault time and time again. He's the reason his own death happened.
So true.

Can you be more specific when referring to “milestones”? He did have wives, successful career, etc etc
Bam is a spoiled child who got everything he ever wanted. He’s exactly who he wants to be. No one should feel sorry for him.

I see enough of myself in him to truly hate him.
And you call yourself kingpin but you upload videos of yourself playing smart phone games.

I truly am.
i don't think bam's parents were alcoholics. they owned a home.
@@ChickenMcThiccken owning a home doesn't mean anything
it's the kind of thing that, even if he's not directly abusing his son, it's guaranteed the poor boy is witnessing it and it's genuinely causing trauma. tho it's probably worse if the dad is hurting or bullying the boy, it can be somewhat more confusing to have trauma symptoms from seeing that side of his dad, second hand abuse by seeing his mom or other loved ones abused by his dad, and generally the pain and fear of an unstable and explosive parent who is constantly lashing out at others, even if not at phoenix himself. can create all sorts of issues like fear of confrontation or self destructive people pleasing at the very least. hopefully the supports in his life will guide him to the right therapy that acknowledges that he probably carries emotional scars no matter what and doing therapy for it can make a world of difference

I've gotta agree. He's had so many chances but I don't think he really WANTS to get better. I think he's comfortable where he is.

She struggled with her mental health and coped with heavy substance use, spoke much like Bam does in blaming the world for their self-hatred. I really, really do hope that Bam breaks the cycle, because those he loves will hurt so much if he continues this path of self-destruction.
Condolences
that sounds really horrible. i am sorry you had to go through that. hope you're doing well
@@lalin2678 tyvm.
🙏 God bless you, man. Sorry about your mom
@@mariz9084 Keep it up. 👍
@@KdotLINE Thank you, I will.

He's exactly where he wants to be.
why would he be wrong thinking that? thats been his whole life, what else is he gonna improve with? might as well die like that
Damn
If you listen to him talk he's constantly blaming other people for everything that goes wrong in his life. Every time. He's a lost cause.
exactly, he is a child seeking attention and putting his self depreciating anti social behaviour for attention, his tempter tantrum dysfunctional throwing stunts are always on camera for the world to see, that is the ONLY METHOD he knows will get him attention, he isnt struggling with substance abuse, he's struggling with attention abuse, he kept getting attention as a positive reinforcement for his dysfunctional behaviour, he keeps doing it.
The moment he gives up being a celebrity, the moment he stops pulling anti social stunts on camera, will be the moment he's truly ready to start fixing his life

My wife was diagnosed with bipolar and shit can get crazy out of nowhere if she is off her meds and she doesn't drink or do drugs.
BPD stands for borderline personality disorder, not bipolar disorder.
@TheBuzzati
His dad should have disciplined him.
The chance for him to emotionally develop was decades ago. I don’t foresee him coming through it like SteveO did.
He's pretty much about to lose it all by now. He alienated his friends, especially Novak who pretty much hates him now, his family is a step away from just giving up on him because simply nothing has worked, with many of them flatout given up on him.
His money is probably not gonna last very long too.
And sometimes not even then
@@KB-tf8vpI agree, unfortunately.
Bam didn't come up with "one is too many and a thousand isn't enough" in regards to drinking. That's from the Alcoholics Anonymous.
Can’t believe some people have the balls the blame parents. This is anything but a conventional upbringing. That’s annoying
spare the rod bro.. your upbringing impacts who you become it can be a big impact or a small one.
You’re a loser
Stevo was only paid HOW MUCH?! No wonder he looks back at that with such disgust.

That's a damn shame. Bam was the reason I even heard of H.I.M.
Update: Bam left rehab. Went to Vegas, and MARRIED a new woman. Then they shot a music video. Bam is the soap opera that never ends.

Almost like he was given everything he ever wanted in high school and wasn't told no till he was an adult.
He's never been held accountable for anything in his life.
You can't rationalize his behaviour, which is irrational because of addictions and psychiatric problems.
What really hits me is that Brandon Novak, who was off his nut on skag for most of the time is now fully sober & working to help addicts kick their habits. Bam was (mainly) sober & had the world in the palm of his hand back then. How things have changed.
He's a manipulative snake like steveo.
Look into that surprise witness TV Brandon Novak
@@FukaiKokoroYeah, Novak gives me the creeps too.
So weird aye. Both went in opposite directions.
@@FukaiKokoro he's a scientologist too just like Steve o
It took you growing up all these years to realize this ? All it takes is watching one episode of his trash shows.
I called them Bamper tantrums 1:07:05
Bamtrums😂😂😂
spot on
I used to love watching Bam’s show. I’ve seen the CKY videotapes 50 times at least. It’s sad how he ended up.
Because of this it is almost hopeless he will ever be free of addiction.
exactly, this man is going out just like aaron carter did. both refused they had a problem, and had similar narc traits.
I don't think he has a narcissistic personality, I mean, he's extremely mentally ill. He's been mentally ill since his childhood and I think people don't fully appreciate all the things that led him to have substance addiction problems, or how significant his mental illness is.
@@MissSpaz a narcistic personality disorder is an mentally illness. The more you know xD
@@MissSpaz darling... it's LITERALLY a narcissistic personality DISORDER.
That means it IS a mental ILLNESS.
Are you even listening to yourself ? 🙈
@@abrahamwashington8579 Congratulations for your 4 years!

Find his bottom ?
The fact he thought Dr. Phill was qualified to help him might be the craziest part of this video
I began watching this thinking "I'll stop watching when Bam takes responsibility for any of his actions."
I watched the WHOOOOOOOLE thing.
25 is too old. He reminds me of those attention seekers with rich parents in high school. The others grew up a long time ago.
"A guy who was just incredibly lucky as there was no actual real hard work entailed to earn his millions. "
Ok i get you dislike Bam but come on no hard work after decades of skating, filming videos and editing them?
Stay strong 💪 it's always good to hear about those who've survived it ❤️
Did you lose all your friends, blank? How did you survive?
Sadly his kid is probably better off being raised by someone else.
So we shovel through that pile, ignoring how it got there, and get on with our lives, without ever dumping our own pile, at someone else’s doorstep.
congrats on staying sober for so long! I wish you all the best ❤
I can’t help but be frustrated that nobody thought to confront Dunn about his reckless driving when they knew he was dangerous behind the wheel for years.
Oh like you care right?! The man has been dead for decades stop trashing Dunn. You didn't even know the guy you loser!
Yep it’s bullshit this is how innocent ppl everyday and they are joking about it
Who said that? Wouldn't be surprised he was confronted millions of times. But do these people look like adults who listen to reason, or spoiled manbabies who did what they feel like?
@@aw2584 Well you don't have proof so what makes your the right to jump to that conclusion? That's just something you want to believe because you want to be right. Facts are facts
Good on Steph-O & Brandon. You guys are doing it, much respect.
My dad has my name tattooed on him. He had to call my mom to ask how to spell it & hasn't seen me since I was 12 lolll
