- Maxson Goh Films Diamond Bus North West 66900 (MX55FFL), a 2005 Volvo B7RLE with a very musical ZF ecomat gearbox on the 36 towards Manchester.
Could this be the very best ZF Ecomat bus still in regular service in 2023? Or can you find another better one?

Fantastic sound I really do love these old ZF’s. Unfortunately it’s a bit of a dying breed here now, but that sound is a musical journey from my earlier childhood!
In Santiago, it were lots of B7Rs exactly like this, model 2005, and didn't sound or drive like this... Deploys lots of power under kickdown driving.

Many B7RLE operators in India still have many ZF's in their fleets, but they're not so loud but they're noticable

Had a ride on this on the 36 last week, very fast driver too. I certainly don’t know of any louder or musical ZFs currently in public service in the UK! Simply fantastic

Here in the USA we also have ZF Ecomat Buses and i really like ZF Ecomat buses but we also have Detroit Desial 50 Engine Buses whoch sound Amazing.

Love those things, im not from the uk but I was there in 2012 and rode on one of those, that ZF box sound and the "ding-dong~” from the stop request button, I remember haha.
I had a friend buy the bell module from the bus at the scrapyard so he could press it as many times as he wanted haha
The ZF sound very nice and I heard this from from another bus, probably the Volvo b10m I couldn’t remember because I was really young
Yep they have the same brand of gearbox
They are sometimes impeccable on Scania L94UBs but this one is the best B7RLE I have heard
The Zf on the yutong citymaster is great too

Sounds awesome! Sydney still has quite a number of O405s/O405NHs running as of today, with a very pleasant ZF Ecomat as well. Meanwhile, this B7RLE sounds like a Euro 2 or 3 B7RLE with a D7C engine, which is different from SBS8030L or Sentosa's former B7RLEs.
Mmmm this is a 2005 B7RLE so maybe that's why.. one of the earlier models. Oh yes Sydney, would love to visit some time just for the buses and their bus museum

We’ve never had Euro 2 B7RLEs in GB. We’ve had a mix of Euro 2 and 3 B7Ls which led to the development of our Euro 3 B7RLEs as a result of feedback, basically the “toilet box” layout proved unpopular with operators

Here in Portugal, until December 31st 2022, we used to have amazing ZF buses (MAN 12.220 and Mercedes-Benz O405 for example) dating from the late 90s and early 2000s that held up till their withdrawal, they were operated by Vimeca Transportes. I was super sad when they went out of service after the company changed to Carris Metropolitana. My whole childhood is gone. Replaced by Mercedes-Benz Conecto LF €6.
I have to take those Conectos every day and they're a pain. They have City Star Eco seats and have started to break down a lot recently. I miss the old buses, especially the MAN 12.220, they were my absolute favourites.

I grew up with the O405s and I absolutely loved them! Especially the loud ZFs
@@glitchFan2428 you should absolutely search for some of Vimeca's old buses, they were a treat
@@glitchFan2428 search Vimeca 232 and click on the 1st video with the exact same thing I wrote "Vimeca 232"
Sometimes, when the O405s (the ones operated by Vimeca were nicknamed the UR95 or UR2000, UR means urban and was the name used by the bodywork company Irmãos Mota for their Atomic bodywork line) broke down, they were repaired on the exact location they stopped during service and were started back up (although struggling a bit because they were 27 years old) but man they were a beast, a euro 2 beast!

The zf gearbox sounds amazing. I think it might be a 5HP502 but i might be wrong
I'm not sure which specific zf model it is, but you're right in saying it sounds amazing 😁😁
dunno why but I think it's kinda reassembling the same gearbox sound on Neoplan Centroliner with cummins engine. (Those have the 5HP590)

Without wanting to sound sad, the Trentbarton Volvo B7RLE had the later ZF Ecolife transmissions which were so crap they were the cause of me attempting to be disciplined for bringing the company into disrepute.
Give me SBS8030L with a 174 driver anyday over this.
Had it on 268 once where the driver floored it, and a few times on 13. Such a nice bus

Nah, trentbarton's 741 (FJ09BXF) is better in my opinion. There's an example of it on my channel.

Not to say the ZF is bad; but it covers the engine which is disappointing.
