Hi, I would be interested in a debunking of the claim that the cult of dionysus parallels the martyrdom of the Christian church and the myth of dionysus is that basis for Christ's death resurrection and the miracle at the wedding. I have faced this particular claim, and I know it's pretty niche... but a few atheists I know find this idea quite fashionable and I would like to see a through debunking of such flimsy connections

I have a coworker, atheist, who gets so excited trying to tell Christians how these holidays are "just fake pagan holidays" as if it is some discredit to Christianity. His arguments are so dumb it almost isn't even worth addressing lol if it were not for the fact that he tries to use it as a way to weaken the faith of Christians.

@@By.His.Spirit. I sorry but you are incorrect with Easter being pagan. I looked at the primary sources to know that Easter did not come from paganism. No Ishtar, Estore etc.
There is an Atheist youtuber called History For Atheists that did a video asking the Question is Easter is pagan? The answer is NO. He used primary sources for back his claim.
It is ironic that an Atheist who doesn't believe in God, is operating in truth than believers in Jesus Christ who parrot that Easter is pagan without doing any research using Primary sources. It is a sad indictment on Christians. Here is the video before.

I am a fellow Christian. I grew up doing these celebrations in my childhood. I’m not trying to cast stones at anyone, but I had to ask myself this and I believe that any believer should ask themselves the same thing. Do any of these activities during these holidays, have anything to do with Christ from the Bible? What does the bunny and coloring eggs and hiding them and having the children go find them have to do with the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection? What does Santa, the reindeer and presents and decorations have to do with Jesus’s birth? Again I share this with love. It was hard for me to answer these questions when I was brought up doing these very things. Can anyone honestly say that when they partake in these things, their hearts and minds are on the lord and what he’s done for us? In everything we do, we should do it for the glory of God Almighty. Do these things glorify God? Do they align with what His word says? Pray on it and search the scriptures of what he says.

As an ex-HR person I can say we had a fear of sinning and were convinced these things were pagan and would incur God's wrath. Slowly God started showing me how its not actually pagan though. Now that I'm out and on the other side I'm thinking its a slander campaign of the enemy, this pagan accusation. The fruit is division, hate, pride, fear to name a few. And I find it note worthy that in 7 years in HR while everyone is obsessed with the feasts, they breeze right past firstfruits(the feast foreshadowing the resurrection) and only "keep" 6/7. Why wouldnt they want to celebrate Jesus' ressurrection, the most important thing in our faith! Satan just wants to steal kill and destroy so he put this pagan thing out there, which btw, atheists loveeeee to throw at Christians. Satan wants to steal Jesus' celebrations and so much more. Praise God for his mercy and patience with us to bring us out! We feel free now! Happy Easter!

I think those are all good points in this episode. When is comes to the topic of Halloween my family just chooses not to participate. It’s how I was raised. Not because I’m afraid of celebrating the devil or I think God will be upset, it’s simply I just don’t see what it is we are actually celebrating. Easter yes, Christmas yes. 😊
I’m not catholic. But even if your not, I know many that still celebrate it and that’s completely fine. I think my own conviction and feelings is that it’s just a holiday to celebrate fear now or the emphasis on fear. I know many people who don’t do the “scary” part or dress in nicer things and that’s fine. My family just chooses not to and we have a fun family night at home with games. I never felt like I missed out. But again, everyone can celebrate how they want. No judgement here. 😊

      Easter is a pagan holiday.
      It celebrates the Fertility Goddess.
Yes, a sexual goddess is connected with Jesus
      In the world. WHY.
1 JOHN 5:19 - ......the whole world lies in the power
of the wicked One. ( Satan the Devil) millions of demons.
God created the world, but Satan rules the world.
GOD says: BE NO PART OF THE WORLD.
      MEN ARE STEEPED IN TRADITION.....
      TRADITIONS OF THE WORLD.
      THIS ISNT A JW THING.
      GO TO LIBRARY, RESEARCH.
WHY ARE RABBITS AND EGGS ON EASTER???
      RABBITS ARE KNOWN FOR FERTILITY
AT POINT IT WAS ONLY WAY TO SEE IF A WOMAN WAS PREGNANT.
EGGS- WOMEN CARRY THE EGGS, MEN THE SPERM.
      ITS COMMON SENSE.
      EASTER IS NOT IN BIBLE.
NOWHERE DOES GOD SAY TO REMEMBER HIS SON
IS RABBITS AND EGGS. VERY DEROGATORY.
      THESE MEN ARE BLINDED.
JWS CAN SIT AROUND AND CALL THESE MEN IDIOTS, FOOLS,
      IGNORANT, BLINDED.....
      BUT THEY DONT.....
NOT WORTH THEIR TIME RUNNING PEOPLE DOWN....
THEY MOVE ON.....ITS FREEDOM TO BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT
      GOD DRAWS PEOPLE.
      HUMANS ARE SELFISH AND REBELLIOUS
THEY DONT WANT TO FACE THINGS
THEY ARE STEEPED IN MANS TRADITIONS
THEY DONT WANT TO SEE TRUTH.
      SO
      THATS COOL

At the end of the day I feel like people who want to keep these holidays so badly should ask themselves, “why is it so important to me to defend secular holidays that have nothing to do with God?” People spend more time trying to prove why it’s okay to celebrate these longstanding traditions of men, instead of focusing on Christ and evangelizing the lost. Wether you want to admit the pagan origins or not, it makes no difference. The Easter Bunny and decorating eggs and binge eating candy has nothing to do with Jesus. Santa Claus and hanging stockings and decorating a tree has nothing to do with Jesus. Buying your significant other a heart shaped box with chocolates and roses and going to an expensive dinner has nothing to do with Jesus. Wearing green and indulging in revelry and carousing has nothing to do with Jesus. Dressing up as a character, most of which are intended to implement fear and watching horror movies and binge eating candy also have nothing to do with Jesus. The list goes on. Where is God’s presence in any of these things? Where is reverence, awe and obedience to our creator in any of these traditions? The Bible calls us to *come apart from the world and be separate,* not come up with a bunch of excuses to stay joined to it.

I believe we are in the 2nd Exodus as we, "come out of her My people"! 😃 Babylon is the world, and it's systems. Being set apart, and called out means pleasing God rather than people. (Keeping His Feasts which bless, and glorify Him, are so revelatory, and such a joy! Spending His Holy days getting to know Him, and learning when, what, and how reveals why and vice-versa!!! So awesome!!! I look forward to and enjoy getting understanding as it is given, HalleluYAH!
I can only share what He Is doing in me, and what I've learned.
On the flipside, the traditions of man are not of God. The Most High gave us holydays, and feasts, with purpose, rooted in The Truth, past, present, and future, to help us to know Him!😀
The traditions of paganism date back long before Jesus walked this physical plane, and although sometimes nostalgic, fun and seemingly innocent, these worldly holidays have twisted, dark, disgusting,🤢🤮 and underlying deceptions, that you will never hear of, from the mainstream social engineers, on every form of media programming that is crammed into our our fluoridated, ignorant, subconscious... we have been initiated for the dark side from birth, and it's time to break the cycle HalleluYAH I Trust Him because He Is Worthy!!! Easter is the early Catholic whitewashing of Ishtar in order to appease the pagans that were strongly encouraged to join the church. The pagans didn't want to stop having their traditional festivals. Same thing with Christmas..they christianized saturnalia and yule and called it Christmas.
Imo, celebrating the commercialized pagan holidays is a poke in the eye of Christ Jesus. It takes the focus off of Him, instead we gullibly honor an ancient spirit, likely nephilim, by practicing their rituals. Is it an unforgivable sin? No it's not. Will you lose your salvation simply by engaging in it? No you won't. For me, I don't anymore bc God has convicted me not to. What other followers of Christ are between them and God. No judgement here.
An excellent scholarly resource is 'The Genesis 6 Conspiracy' by Gary Wayne.

As for me and my house hold we will serve the LORD. But if you have family or friends that celebrate this "Easter " Sunday ok well we as Christians should understand that GOD is our first love. And again gives us opportunities to spread and let GODS WORD light others. Ask yourself...even if you did not celebrate holidays. Are you perfect now?? Of course not, not even close. Ezekiel 8
    Berean Standard Bible
The Vision of Idolatry in the Temple
1In the sixth year, on the fifth day of the sixth month, I was sitting in my house, and the elders of Judah were sitting before me; and there the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me.
2Then I looked and saw a figure like that of a man. From His waist down His appearance was like fire, and from His waist up He was as bright as the gleam of amber.a 3He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes jealousy was seated.
4And there I saw the glory of the God of Israel, like the vision I had seen in the plain. 5“Son of man,” He said to me, “now lift up your eyes to the north.”
So I lifted up my eyes to the north, and in the entrance north of the Altar Gateb I saw this idol of jealousy.
6“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see what they are doing-the great abominations that the house of Israel is committing-to drive Me far from My sanctuary? Yet you will see even greater abominations.”
7Then He brought me to the entrance to the court, and I looked and saw a hole in the wall.
8“Son of man,” He told me, “dig through the wall.”
So I dug through the wall and discovered a doorway.
9Then He said to me, “Go in and see the wicked abominations they are committing here.”
10So I went in and looked, and engraved all around the wall was every kind of crawling creature and detestable beast, along with all the idols of the house of Israel. 11Before them stood seventy elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing among them. Each had a censer in his hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising.
12“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? For they are saying, ‘The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the land.’ ”
13Again, He told me, “You will see them committing even greater abominations.”
14Then He brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the LORD, and I saw women sitting there, weeping for Tammuz.c
15“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see this? Yet you will see even greater abominations than these.”
16So He brought me to the inner court of the house of the LORD, and there at the entrance to the temple of the LORD, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east; and they were bowing to the east in worship of the sun.
17“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see this? Is it not enough for the house of Judah to commit the abominations they are practicing here, that they must also fill the land with violence and continually provoke Me to anger? Look, they are even putting the branch to their nose! 18Therefore I will respond with wrath. I will not look on them with pity, nor will I spare them. Although they shout loudly in My ears, I will not listen to them.”

Just finished watching Dr. John Barnett's message "WATCH OUT--THE FINAL GLOBAL RELIGION OF SATAN IS FORMING ALL AROUND YOU TODAY!" It is a condensed 45 minute summary of what he taught on church history from a 14 hour seminary lecture series and takes an opposite view of what is being taught here on Cultish. In order to understand the pagan roots one must be both familiar with the historical biblical and early church references on the subject, such as Jeremiah 44 "The queen of heaven" and the Babylonian practices before the church, before Constantine and after the legalization of a paganized form of Christianity. When preparing to witness to Roman Catholic acquaintances I first came across this information, and having attended a funeral mass when one of my Roman Catholic (RCC) acquaintances passed away unexpectedly, it was eye opening to see the pagan influence in practice. Over the years I have been to many funeral services of believers and felt the victory of the cross even in death, but in the Roman Catholic funeral it was the exact opposite. I have never been to such a sad affair and my spirit felt oppressed in that place. At the memorial reception after the service, one of my other RCC acquaintances and his wife were telling me about her trip to see the apparition of the virgin Mary. They pray to her instead of Jesus, she is their intercessor. Mary is prominently depicted at the front of the RCC sanctuary above a large statutory crucifix. It was frightening to see and experience this pagan ritual and I don’t think protestants (or reformed if you prefer) church goers have any idea how bad it is in the RCC church, and some of the influences that were carried over into our own practice of the faith. There is a little more reformation left to be done!

On the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare the Passover so You may eat it? ” “Go into the city to a certain man,” He said, “and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My time is near; I am celebrating the Passover at your place with My disciples.’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

So much of what is said in this video reminds me of the arguments against Christians doing yoga. While I fully acknowledge that yoga *CAN* lead an unsaved person or someone less mature in their faith down a dark path, how is a Bible-believing, born-again Christian doing non-spiritual yoga for exercise some terrible, dangerous thing? I am rock-solid in my faith, so I can’t accidentally worship some false god. The devil does not own a particular pose that I might get into. Like, really? Is my God so small that He is threatened by downward facing dog? Even though my kids do that pose all the time without having any idea it’s a yoga pose? The only time yoga is dangerous for a solid Christian is when we allow legalists to make us afraid of things that God has already defeated and/or is fully capable of redeeming.

But now if you have a rainbow sticker on your car or even on a Christian book, people will assume it’s representative of theLGBTQ. Soon folks will say the rainbow is pagan for the gays. I prayed for discernment on this very issue last night and then saw this video in my Recommended this morning. Great video, but I have some questions in its further application:
At 23:00, Michael talks about the pattern in the Bible of Jews and Christians claiming things for God. I'm curious how Michael's reasoning can be applied to something like Bill Johnson of Bethel's claims that Christians should be "reclaiming" the truths of God that New Age practices have 'taken' (it's borderline gnosticism). In Johnson's thinking, we can waltz blatantly into something un-Christian, learn of its practices, and then somehow apply it in the worship of our God. Johnson says God will protect us from such demonic things when immersing ourselves in these New Age practices because 'we have a Spirit of victory.' How does Michael's use of 1 Cor. 8 fit in with this (15:13)? Can it even be applied? Is there a categorical difference between the two given Michael's historical research in holidays and church history?
What I'm also curious about is how Michael's sound reasoning can apply to worship music that comes out of heretical churches: Bethel, Elevation, and Hillsong, etc. Some theologians have claimed that the music is being written to a different god (these churches preach modalism, "little gods," New Age syncretism, etc.). I've heard Deuteronomy 12:29 quoted as a justification given this claim as to why it shouldn't be used as praise worship to our God. Does Michael's argument still hold up regarding this? How is this case different?

I'm really struggling with this episode. I know that y'all at apologia are theonomists and that within God's law God explicitly says that he is not to be worshipped in the manner in which the gods of the nation's worship their gods ( Deuteronomy 12:4) so why are y'all dismissing all of these things as if they don't really matter? I'm not necessarily suggesting that you worship the Risen Christ with eggs and bunnies, but these things are most certainly connected to the resurrection in thousands and thousands of Sunday School classes and Resurrection Day Celebrations when they have absolutely nothing to do with it. Your guests argument that the Ark of the Covenant is modeled after Egyptian Furniture is utterly ridiculous because God clearly tells Moses that the pattern for the Ark of the Covenant, the Tabernacle, the altar of incense, Etc was to be made after the pattern shown to Moses on Mount Sinai, not Egyptian furniture! Read Exodus 25:40. I agree that some go way too far and overboard concerning these matters, but it's not as if their concern is unfounded or unmerited. If you truly are going to be biblical about celebrating the resurrection you have to follow the Jewish feasts because Jesus was crucified at Passover, buried at the Feast of Unleavened Bread and rose on the Feast of Firstfruits. All of that is entirely biblical. In my opinion, it would be the best practice of Christians to not celebrate Jesus's resurrection on the Spring Equinox, but rather the actual day with in the biblical feasts that God put forth. That's not legalism. That's not fundamentalism nor is it negative.

Ēostra, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of dawn ( *not* fertility), has lent only her name to the holiday in much the same way that other Germanic deities have lent their names to our weekday names.

    • @kavikv.d.hexenholtz3474
      @kavikv.d.hexenholtz3474 Год назад +17

      @Randall Moore
Let’s delve into the world of historical fact for a moment….
Ishtar, is the Akkadian variation of the West Semitic goddess Astoreth (Hellenized to Astarte). These forms are all essentially variations of the same root word. The -eth, -ot, and -t endings one sees on this name, by the way, simply indicate the noun is feminine.
Ishtar, or to use the Hebrew variation, Ashtarot, comes from the root word meaning “to increase”. In her earliest form, she was seen as a goddess of grain, or grain increase. Over time, she became a goddess associated with sexual love and war; _not_ fertility as many assert.
Eggs and hares have _never_ been historically associated (or even suggested to be associated) with her; Ishtar’s sacred animal was the lion; her symbol, the eight pointed star and a twisted knot of reeds representing the doorpost to a grain house (as mentioned, in her earliest form, she was a goddess of grain); not _one credible source_ cites eggs. Indeed, neither the hare nor eggs were seen as fertility symbols in the ancient Near East.
Ishtar’s cult practice died out about 300 AD; long before many European peoples started associating the Christian resurrection narrative with their existing springtime traditions. To try and associate Ishtar with Easter is a bit like trying to say that the word “baby” has the same root as the word “Babylon”, or that “Amen” is really derived from the Egyptian god Amun.
Easter has never been a celebration of Ishtar in any way, shape, or form.
The word Easter derives from Ēostra; the Anglo-Saxon name variation of the West Germanic goddess of dawn and by association, to some extent spring. Indeed, an entire month was dedicated to her; namely April (originally, Ēosturmônað). The etymology of her name comes from the Indo-European root word *hewsôs, meaning “to shine, glow red” -a reference to dawn. In Proto-Germanic, the name has been reconstructed as *Austrô(n). To the early Germans, she was Ostara, from which modern German gets “Oster” for Easter. Ēostra’s name has also given us the name of the cardinal direction “East”, many placenames in England, and even a few female first names (none of which I believe are used anymore).
Further, it is interesting to note that only in the places she was worshipped (England and parts of northwest Germany) is the word Easter (German, Oster) used in place of an equivalent of the Greek/Latin ‘Pascha’ (from Hebrew “Pêsach” and Aramaic “Pasḥā” - Passover), as with other European languages.
Ēostra lent only her name to the holiday in exactly the same way that other Germanic deities have lent their names to our weekdays in English. Nothing more “pagan” than that.
As for eggs at Easter, they were forbidden food during the Lenten fast. Eggs are the product of a warm-blooded animal, all of which were forbidden during Lent; the fish being cold-blooded was an allowed food; hence the association of Lent with eating fish.
Because eggs were forbidden during Lent, on Easter Sunday, eating eggs was regarded as a ‘treat’ of sorts. This was especially true for poorer people who did not keep animals for slaughter, and could not afford to buy meat. In anticipation of Easter, in many traditions, the eggs were colored during the last days of Lent to mark the end of penance and fasting. In many countries, the colors used are highly symbolic - the traditional red of the Eastern Orthodox tradition, for example, symbolizes the blood Christ shed for mankind.
The Easter Hare (not a bunny or a rabbit - that’s a considerably more modern version) comes from the Lutherans of Germany (yep, the Easter Bunny is a Protestant thing).
The Easter Hare, however, does not symbolize a thing. None of the egg-bringing animals of folklore are in any way ‘symbolic’ of any one thing, any more than the Tooth Fairy is symbolic of anything. The hare is not symbolic of ‘fertility’ nor of anything else. These are supposed attributes which have been repeated so often, they have become accepted as legitimate truth. Indeed, the hare is not known to be as “prolific” as the bunny or rabbit.
Hares are also known for constructing nest-like structures in field and meadows - not a huge stretch for parents to tell their kids that’s where all those colorful eggs they were going to hunt came from. There are a lot of folktales regarding the Easter Hare, some of which are still told today.
The Easter Hare came to America by way of German immigrants to Pennsylvania in the 1700’s.
Again, in short, absolutely _zero_ connection to Mesopotamia, paganism, or Ishtar. Virtually every Easter tradition was established by Christians long after paganism was gone in Europe.
The majority of this ‘Easter is pagan’ nonsense comes from a Scottish Presbyterian minister from the 1800’s; one Alexander Hislop. In his 1858 book, _“The Two Babylons”,_ he asserts that the Roman Catholic Church is a continuation of the religion of ancient Babylon, only in a Christian guise. He goes through great pains in associating and connecting Catholic practices and holidays with those of the ancient Babylonian religion.
His book, of course, has been thoroughly discredited (as early as the 1920’s). Indeed, there is no serious self-respecting Biblical scholar who would give any credence to Hislop’s “theories”. Scholars today recognize it for the vehemently anti-Catholic drivel that it is, and note that most of his theories come either from the realm of his very over active imagination, or his complete misunderstanding of both Catholicism and the religion of ancient Babylon. As one historian puts it: _“Hislop’s book is wonderful because it’s full of imagination and nonsense. It’s fantastic but utterly misconceived. Hislop’s tendency was to think if it sounds the same, it must be connected.”_
It’s from Hislop that the idea of just about everything from Easter ham to eggs to Lent to hot cross buns are pagan in origin and tie back to Ishtar and another Babylonian deity, Dumuz/Tamuz He was also very fond of tying things in to the mythical Nimrod and the Assyrian regent Shammuramat (Hellenized to Semiramis). Of course, he got that completely wrong as well.
The association is a complete false etymology and symbol association, created to further promote the beliefs and ideas of some Christian denominations…... the reality is, is that there is just absolutely no association whatsoever; it’s shoddy scholarship coupled with wishful thinking at best. It’s become a seasonal meme that just can’t seem fade into oblivion, and one that some people just can’t seem to let go of.

We are commanded to celebrate Passover, not easter, and it is a commandment. God tells us to do it forever, throughtout ALL of our generations. Yet people celebrate easter and ignore the command. And God tells us we will be cut off from our people, if we do not. No where does He say that he will one day end the law. The lawlessness Christ speaks of IS Torah Law. Sin is ignoring Torah Law. Christ himself says the way to eternal life is to FOLLOW TORAH LAW. The commandments = Torah Law.
It's always interesting how far Christians will go to defend their lawlessness aka their sins.
Christ said he came to fulfill the law, not destroy it. Christ followed Torah. To be Christ Like... would be to follow Torah Law, as he did. And finally... he celebrated Passover. Communion is ON Passover.

    1. The blatant complete dismissal of fundamental Christianity should send up a red flag off the Nat.
    2. The 'first documents' argument would mean that we can't trust the first books of the Bible since they were written well after the beginning. Much like the 19th century writings of the much older folklore.
    3. Claimed a pagan goddess had nothing to do with the name of the holiday and then immediately quotes a book that describes exactly how the very name of the goddess was used to name the holiday. Debunks himself in less than 5 minutes.
    4. They claimed there was no push back from the church about taking on these non-christian observances. When the Holy Roman Catholic Church, who pretty well ruled with an iron fist back then (and still does to some extent), orders all believers to take up certain practices for what ever reason, then there wouldn't be any uproar.
    5. Debunking Tiktok is about as difficult as breathing. Especially when you only use videos that directly support your point of view. (This is especially comical when they spend as much time as they do telling you how unreliable the material is.)
    6. They made the argument that these practices are fine as long as they don't overshadow the work of Jesus and the cross. One step into a Walmart will show you that this has happened in spades for both Easter and Christmas. Shelves lined and groaning under the weight of chocolate bunnies, Easter baskets, and egg decorating kits. At Christmas some companies won't even allow you to say Merry Christmas! These 'not specifically Christian' traditions are eroding the purpose of the holidaies to the extent that Christ is barely mentioned. Unless it is by an atheist badmouthing the holiday. Christians are doing far too little to bring God and Jesus back to the forefront during these holidaies and the rest of the year.
These were the ones I could keep track of while I was listening. They have some decent points however those points haven't convinced me that the observances are a positive. And their methodology for saying the practices are okay just sets God aside in favor of the Easter egg hunt. Piss poor theology there.

Hello! I am interested in finding where Joshua took a pagan temple and dedicated it to God. It sounds like that is exactly what God said not to do in Deuteronomy 12. ??
And I know some don't celebrate popular Christian holidays not because they don't think we can celebrate holidays other than God's holy days - they celebrate Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc - but because God said to not worship Him the way the nations worshipped their gods.
Another question I have -- why should we choose a day that most likely isn't Jesus' birthday and say it is? As Christians we should be practicing Truth, not lies. Obviously God didn't deem it as important as we do to celebrate the birth of Christ otherwise He would have told us to. But God told His people to celebrate the day Christ would be resurrected (the day of firstfruits) long before it happened.

@Randall Moore INDEED. This whole 3 days and 3 nights thing is nothing more than an attempt to avoid the resurrection of Christ on Sunday and to attack orthodox Christianity. This is a case where the people need to grow up and face the facts! And here they are:1. The whole discussion is empty rhetoric. Christ had not ascended to his father,! 2. No one whatsoever saw Christ until Sunday morning. Christ did t appear to anyone or talk to anyone until SUNDAY MORNING! The fanaticism with the 72 hours is the emphasis on the wrong point. The was not the precise hours in the grave, but that Christ had been DEAD in the flesh for 3 days and raised "on the 3rd day" , which would have been beyond any possibility of him accidently still alive after scourging and crucifixion.
To add to underscore the already problematic assumption that the Crucifixion was on Wednesday and his Resurrection was a on Friday, in Luke 24 we find Luke recording the conversation between Christ and the two bothers from Emmaus on SUNDAY and the Brothers specifically saying that Christ had been crucified 3 days ago and SUNDAY was the 3rd day since he was crucified! Luke 24:21 VS 21But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, TODAY IS THE THIRD DAY since these things were done.
When the disciples did see CHRIST SUNDAY MORNING, he made NO mention of any resurrection on Friday evening or late afternoon resurrection or Saturday night or any other NIGHT Christ is said to have been raised and worshiped by the disciples ON SUNDAY. It was a glorious SUNDAY MORNING!! To add to that, not one person ever mentions a Saturday evening resurrection. All of the scriptures leave everyone with the impression it was a Sunday Morning resurrection. And, every succeeding generation after the apostles and all the earliest Church fathers all agree unanimously, that the very reason Christians from the first century worshiped "upon the first day of the week" was directly related to the resurrection of Christ that very day.
Now, the Armstrong's whom have passed away in their many false prophecies and perditions, tried to appear unique from most of Christianity by making themselves special, something new and improved based on pure wild speculation that contradicts both history and the bible. They made the same error with Pentecost being on Monday, when all of Jewish History, including the scripture showed it was on Sunday. But, the bigotry was slow to be repented of. Finally, when the split become so great that the entire organization was going to fall apart, they caved, for survival. But, they ignored all the facts until they were forced to change them, just as the Adventist's did with the Trinity.
The same bigotry exists in all the splinter groups of the Armstrong Churches. They keep preaching the same old failed prophecies and the false doctrine that Gentiles, are required to become Jewish in order to become Christians.
Not one of these Armstrong groups can explain what Christ supposedly did all Saturday night. Nor, can they explain why Christ didn't so much as make an attempt to visit his disciples or why Christ would wait until Sunday morning to ascend to the Father.
Nonetheless, all the apostles, Christ's mother and all the disciples worshiped Christ on that Sunday morning and the Sabbath keepers all despise it. Because, it is the ground and truth for the very reason of the worship of Christ in recognition of his resurrection, where the worshipers become *"Witnesses of Christ's resurrection, as much as Mary and the Apostles that very Sunday.
But, heresies and pet doctrines made up by those who claim to be apostles and the two witness don't die as fast and those who invented them

Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon because: the full moon would be the 15th day on the Hebrew calendar(Passover is the 14th day on the Hebrew calendar). Therefore in the gospels when they found the empty tomb on Sunday, thats the first Sunday after the full moon. It is biblical. ❤
On the Hebrew calendar a full moon is always the 15th of their month. The first day of Unleavened Bread and the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles (both the 15th day of the Hebrew month) per Leviticus 23 will always be full moons.
That is why the church chose the first Sunday after the full moon for Easter. ❤

I am speaking as to wise people. Judge for yourselves what I say. The cup of blessing that we give thanks for, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for all of us share that one bread. Look at the people of Israel. Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in what is offered on the altar? What am I saying then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but I do say that what they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to participate with demons! You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot share in the Lord’s table and the table of demons.

Ironically enough the youtube channel History For Atheists debunks the claim that Easter is of pagan origin. Here is the link to the video. ruclips.net/video/YJq70tf0AsY/видео.html
