So many great ideas being incorporated. I really like the DIY problem solving and fabrication you take us through with you. Thanks so much for sharing your build with your fans
I'm used to watching your videos multiple times months after they have been posted. To say I'm stoked to catch this within hours in an understatement. What an amazing project. I'm currently building and using some of the techniques I've learned from you. Thanks brother!
Dude, it is amazing how much similarity there is between our builds. But I wish I had seen your vids before I started mine. Yours is much nicer. I really like the wall panel construction. And I think I've gone with too heavy fiberglass cloth. But I really love your idea and build quality. Looks like you are getting close, I wish I could say the same. I am trying to get it to where I can just go out and throw all my stuff in it. I'm sure it won't look as nice as yours, ever. :)
Thanks. It's exciting to finally finish the box. Now I get to start chipping away at the cabinetry and systems. It's pretty cool that we get to share ideas and put our own twist on things. I know I spent a lot of time checking out other builds before I started my own.
Love the videos as always. Progress is great y’all are doing amazing. Update on our T100 we went with 32x10.5 from 31s we love the new height and trail ability it just seems to look for gears a bit more around town. The stainless Gibson exhaust is awesome except for long trips super loud and droney also got a steering stabilizer which was originally was for the 80 series Land Cruiser and it mounted up perfect and works like a charm.
I've got 32x10.50 on my long bed T100. I was thinking about switching them over once I get the camper ready for a trial run. Don't got to worry about searching for gears with the manual transmission 👍 I'll have to look into that 80 series steering stabilizer. I've been thinking I need to do something about the steering, but haven't even started doing the research.
Great meticulous attention to detail and your perseverance in completing all of the tedious tasks and not taking short cuts. These types of projects build themselves much faster in the mind than in reality. Quality stuff sir. Any idea how much it weighs?
Thanks for the encouragement. I don't have any way of weighing it unfortunately, but adding up the weight of the materials I'm guessing around 1200 pounds.
Great camper! And, You make it look so easy... I'd like to see how you sealed the top section to the bottom when raised and how your latch works. Is it raised by hand? As in, lifting it with your arms?
Hey, great build, thanks for sharing! I'm working on a door right now and I'm wondering where you got that T section? I'm having a hard time finding any that's the right size
There are a lot of things I love about your design, but there are several things I would do differently. Not to say you’re wrong, just a difference of opinion. First off, I can’t help but thing using both the 5mm wood skin AND fiberglass is overkill. I think I would go with one or the other to make it cheaper & lighter. I actually think I’d just go with FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) Panels for the skins. Of course it depends on how strong and wear resistant the composite panels actually end up being. I really like the pop up design, making the bed and countertops part of the same surface (about 34” height?), and kind of the bottom of the pop top it really ties things together and makes it strong! This, in spite of disliking pop up/outs in principle. I’d never take big hunks out of the interior space for an exterior locker, or for surfboards. The amount of interior space is one of the most limiting factor of the truck camper design, and I wouldn’t want to limit myself further. I’d make storage space for such things on the exterior surface. When I tell you my current RV is a shuttle bus with a open interior and all the windows, that might tell you where I’m coming from…. I would have wanted a lot more windows in your design. I really like the pour foam as an alternative to using glued foam board. I’m sure that is a lot stronger. I’d like to get an idea of the comparative cost and strength.. I really like a lot of the details of the design, the details of the pop top and doors.
Thanks for the consideration. counters ended up around 33" height. My decision to design the storage the way I did was obviously a personal choice based off of my needs and experience. I like the idea of having space for all my wet, dirty gear that doesn't require me to bring it inside the camper. I also think it will help us setup/packup camp a bit quicker. obviously it's a compromise, but everything about designing a camper is. Trying to compare the cost and strength of my panel construction vs skinned foam board is kinda tough. There are lots of different foam boards, skin materials, and adhesives. There are also different techniques for getting better adhesion and each adhesive will be affected by temperature and humidity. The pour foam expansion rate and resulting foam are also affected by temperature. Since all of this is presumably being done by a novis on a budget in their backyard... it's not going to have the most consistent results.
Hey so glad to see an update on this! I'm actually on your channel right now catching up on your adventures. Man can't wait to see this done and on the road. Your videos are awesome and chill, you 2 have awesome chemistry. Guess I'll sub since your updating us. Hope to see you guys in my journey next year!
The windows in the lower section are great! Awesome work

Thanks for the positive feedback
Beautiful. Nicely done, Matt.
Amazing work Matt! Cant wait to see you guys out adventuring in the new camper.
Excellent progress, she's looking good!!!
Well done Matt! Nice to see how it's all coming together. 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
This is such a cool build! I'm prepping up my 2003 Avalanche for a mostly foam and fiberglass build right now.
Cool! That will be a unique build. I always like to see people getting creative.
Matt, You're amazing! Killer project and execution. The camper is looking superb!
Thanks Mike. Very kind. I'm happy with how its turning out so far

Super cool. Good luck with your build Christopher
So good to see new content. Y’all never disappoint
That is NICE. Loving the retro look.
Thanks. That's what I had in mind. Glad it comes across that way
Nice work, camper looks great, I like the retro look of the tan brown and the lighter color should help keep temps down a bit.🤙🙃😎
Thats the plan 👍
nice to see your progress!
Matt, thanks for keeping the build videos coming
My pleasure Dan. Thanks for watching

Love this series. 🙌🏼
Very impressive. Thank you for sharing.
Hola, Amy and Matt. Good job. Look like you did you homework before starting the job. The way should be done. Is looking beautiful.
Thank you. I spent a bunch of time scoping out other people's builds before starting mine. Lots of great ideas out there!
Awesome build - the best yet ❤🎉😊
Awesome build!
well done! Congrats.
Dang this is awesome.
Wow looking good
Well done, Matt! Looks really cool. Hopefully you'll soon be a ble to take it down to Baja 👍🏻
Definitely looking forward to getting it down to Baja!
Good work man!
Wow that looks nice, i want one. That paint job looks good. 👍👍 Are you gonna match the truck color with the camper?
I might eventually, but honestly its pretty low on my priority list
Beautiful work!
Very cool!
Finally !!! Ive been waiting impatiently lol
Haha. I wish I could get it done faster too
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal its turning out super cool so i get excited for progress

Wau good job!

Wow so sick, love the new setup! I've been thinking of building something for my t100, but I want something light. But your big camper is so roomy.
Thanks. Yeah its always a compromise with these things

The key to making it look easy is good editing 😉

Better than a Callen
I agree 😁
Very Nice. What weight is it?
I haven't had the opportunity to weigh it yet. I'm guessing 1200 pounds
