I got these back in Dec24, and oh man what a treat. I find them really laid back in sound. After trying them at the store, I bought em and went home and spent like 3 hrs listening to music. I had an HD660S2 and those, while comfortable, they used to get me tired with the higher sounding bass. These, I could listen music for hours. Good price and great quality
excited to try these. 109pro imo was incredibly bright sounding, not necessarily sibilant but extremely sharp and will definitely get fatiguing after a while. they were oh so comfortabloe though, and having another offering with that built at this price might be a hit.
If you haven't already try some HD660 S2's, I found the 109pro just as sharp as you describe and returned them. Then I started looking for headphones that put emphasis on midrange more than the treble and the only answer I could find were those Sennheiser's. While everyone is doing either V shape or emphasized highs to give a false feeling of detail and liveness, the Sennheiser's go at it backwards and put emphasis on realistic timbre, midrange and refined highs, that's why they are incredibly special. But YMMV since everyone has a type of sound they prefer.
@@RagnetulCarpatilor I have the HD6XX and the 109pro and I don't find the 109pro fatiguing at all, fortunately. Plus they're way more comfortable than the HD6XX. As you said, mid-range and vocals on the HD6XX are better though bass is worse.
I tried these at Dallas canjam and to me they sound damn near the same as 109 pro but less bright. If I didn't own auteur classic I would for sure pick these up. They are definitely worth the price they are asking for.
Nice to see this price segment start to get more options. The amount of IEMs in this middling price segment is staggering compared to over ears for whatever reason.
GadgetryTech give an awesome review about this headset, I give as gift to my friend my 1770 Pro and since then I’m using wireless headphones but this one really make me doubt about going back to cable
I have both, and I can tell you that they sound similar enough that comfort and build quality will be the determining factor. The Aune AR5000 come off as more detailed with slightly more distance in the soundstage presentation. But only slightly. I find vocals to be more pleasing and less analytical sounding on the Meze 105 AER - that's a good thing usually. They have a slightly warmer sound through the mids. These differences probably mostly come down the the angled drivers and extra large cups on the Aune. Both soundstage really well and are incredibly detailed. Both produce very nice bass that is detailed and tactile. For me, the Aune is unique enough that I always wanna bust them out and try them when I think I'm listening to something that they'll shine on. But the fitment for my head leaves a bit to be desired. There's almost no clamp force for me and I struggle to get a perfect seal. They're too loose. If I'm jiving with the music or move my head much at all they slide around and distract me. When my hair is longer they fit better... They're on the smallest setting and I even bent the headband to give more clamp force. Still a less than desirable fit. Meze 105 AER is very comfortable - clamp force is up there, but it's consistent and not uncomfortable at all. I think Meze has a much more progressive build quality and business model, making basically everything serviceable at home and parts available through their website. I love them both and can't part with either right now.
I have 109 and tested these in Munich Highend show. I can confirm these are not that good. Although they have less sharpness than 109 which results less fatiguing experience, but they sounded very generic and didn't have half of the fun I get from 109.
I like the 105, they split the difference between the 99 classic and 109 pro. They lean more towards the pros vs the classic. I'll be ordering my wife a set for Christmas, she heard them at Canjam Dallas and loved them.
Good looking cans. I do however enjoy the fast/ clearer bass response from a set of planars. I recently tried the Ananda stealth and the clarity was just astounding, but the comfort for my big noggin was just horrendous on the top hot spot. Once the funds allow it, I think I'll be going for the fiio Ft5 because they seem to hit looks and sound. My planar experience come from Dan Clark aeon and hifiman h5xx.
Thanks. I tried them out at the socal canjam. Tough to assess as the place was loud & buzzing Super comfy & light, dig the aesthetic though too much V shape and fatigue for me. 109's were a better experience.
Gadgetrytech's measurements show 490 pro and meze 105 aer bass and midrange being exactly the same with the producer pads. The only difference is meze having a treble spike at 9k
Lol no he is saying buy the 109 pro instead which is VERY bad advice because the 105 measure similarly to the 109 pro, they have the same driver, similar build, yet they are half the price. This headphone is probably Meze’s best value product.
so they change the tuning , when they first show it - it was stated it would be different vs the 109 and tuned towards flat neutral and studio monitoring style of a sound , and now its coming out it seems just a 109 cheaper sibling

Hey Joshua, just a quick one regarding your best 300 dollars headphones.Just checking, since the Edition XS is now less than 300, do they potentially blow the others away? Specially since they were sub 500 and already pretty good and were praised by many?
I'm really curious to hear a comparison of your top recommendations especially for listening / producing / mixing / mastering EDM $1000 - $2000 Arya Organic MM500 HE1000SE
I would say this is in a completely different price bracket than the hadenys. My guess is the hadenys would be much more to your liking, but almost twice the price of these. Whether that's worth it is totally up to you
@@Mr.Manson LCD-2 or classic? From what I have read about them is that they have good extension in sub bass but mid bass impact is lacking, perhaps i am wrong about this? I listen to a lot of Hip Hop and EDM type genres and looking for something with mid bass impact too.
@Shout0 My daily driver now is the LCD-X and it's amazing. The bass can go into brain massage levels with a simple EQ. Mid bass and everything up is also great. Absolutely the best drums/percussion I've heard. The thing is, those big ass drivers make them sound grand and thick, just a solid fun sound with all the detail you could want. I've also had (or have, the headband has terrible construction and broke) Focal Clear Mg, and in comparison it lacked in sub bass, a lot. But they have this light fun punchy sound, where you really feel the air being pushed onto your ears in certain songs. I would more recommend the normal LCD-2 over the classic, if you wanna go that way - and don't wanna spend more. They are less detailed than the X, but still has overall the characteristics that make it good. Plus they make even bad recordings really inoffensive, which is rampant in your preferred genres. It's up to you if you want fun light sound (Focal) or the thick grand one (Audeze). Also keep in mind replacement parts and support (spoiler: Focal is terrible for it).

That Boom mic is kinda a game changer. Might have to get those for my Planars.
