I had family in Frankfort. When I was a kid visiting the daily highlight was walking down the street to the local Ice cream shop How I miss those days.
@nodonny8 so racing under the influence and getting out of the car in a all black race suit standing in a turn that barely has lighting so tell me how it's Smoke's fault for an idiot to smoke pot and go race?
I grew up rural. Waved to all our neighbors and they waived back. Even if you didn't know their name, you knew the truck they drove and the house they lived in 2 miles down the road. These days, the people across the street or 2 houses down just stare when you're outside with the kids and you wave. That's part of what's wrong with this country. God bless Tony for being a good, humble man.
Great vid! Growing up in central Indiana, I can certainly relate! Wife still can't figure out why I wave at everyone that passes by while I'm on the mower. I don't even think about it, it's just an involuntary & natural reaction. DQ was always the stop after winning a big game in Little League too, but back then, we could ride as a team in the bed of a truck.
As a born and raised Hoosier this makes me so proud to see your love for your hometown and Indiana. Growing up in Greenwood, Indiana, and hearing you talk about your childhood reminds me of mine. Riding bikes with my friends way out into the farmland before they started building a bunch of housing editions. Good times and great memories. Makes me feel nostalgic. Nice video.
Small town Indiana you gotta love it. We had more dirt tracks than about any other state in the US I think.. Back in the day it was the way to IndyCar and the Indianapolis 500. Nice visit Smoke🏁🏁🏁
My parents grew up in Crawfordsville Indiana small town people are the best. That’s why I rooted for smoke when he was in NASCAR. And now Sprint Cars. He will always race its in his blood. Same as me a fan. Dad took me to races at age 2 in 1959. It’s in my blood and I have to keep on keeping on. LAKESIDE SPEEDWAY IN KANSAS CITY KANSAS. Smoke made an offer to buy lakeside with Clint bowyer marrs tree service... They wanted to much 🤫 Smoke offered 1 million, but they wanted 2 million 😡 it’s not worth 2mill
eh well the short ones we have plenty but Iowa, California, and Ohio have more, but we got more then Michigan even though they have more wide open spaces and undeveloped areas, but they only got 4 dirt tracks crystal, and butler to name a few, I am sad though we dont have at least one more half mile dirt track then Terre Haute, we used to have one at Montpelier and the one at the state fairgrounds by the Hoosier mile but oh dont let tradition get in the way of money as they decided to put down limestone so they can use it as a harness horse race track year round never mind that we were only one of 4 mile dirt tracks at state fairgrounds left and we are known for auto racing, and decided to turn the inner half mile there to parking for the state fair, I know it might be old news now but I want Hoosier racing fans to know what they did and in the racing capital of the world no less, though at the county fairgrounds they did build a furious 1/4 mile for indy at marion county and they do a fine job on taking care of it with water and tamping, at circle city, ran and built by the guys that run the speeddrome, was there two weeks ago for the maiden run and had no less then Tony's allstar circuit of champion 410 sprints there where home town blood Tyler Courtney won just by a half a car lenght, and they had some 3/4 a series also owned by smoke, it was also Smokes 50th birthday and we was planning to come to the track but didn't make it but was selling tickets for lots of memorabillia of his and for charity :} I wish he would have came though its not every day or even in decades a new dirt track is built in Indiana let alone in the heart of the racing capital of the world as they call indy, just wish it was bigger or high banked at circle city its only semi banked and they really have to drive their cars there that turn three was rough starting out that night :} I could not have asked for more but maybe a friend to come with me. few have done more for racing in indiana then Tony in modern times, people can make fun of the small towns all they like but we do have some neat shops and one of a kind places here tucked away in indiana, not to mention we have the largest sports stadium seating wise at the brickyard, the largest childrens choir and kids museume in indy, the largest traditional archery provider in the world by size and product lines, and the winningest racecar driver of all time steve kinser, and winningist coach of all time that was born here john wooden, we have the largest distillery also at least as far as I know in lawranceburg, and the magnet wire and atificial joint capital of the world, and we have produced more steel then any state in the union the last few years leading the nation in tonnage, we also have the best collector cars ever made in auburn, first dedicated collector car auction in the world there when the kruses started and barrett jackson and mecum started up from former employees of the familys auction buisness, and we have two of the best paintball marker makers around in fort wayne among other things from there. we also have all the greatness the honeywell corperation is that started out in walbash indiana and still has a presance there and all of its beautiful houses. and one would be hard pressed to take any of that away especially the winningest driver and coach, or largest stadium you cant get much bigger then full capacity almost 400000 people that the brickyard would fit if you filled all the stands and area around it, thats larger then the size of the population of the fort wayne metro area and its the second biggest city population wise in indiana and has one of the largest counties in indiana. so if you like cars corn small shops its not so bad, its pretty cheap here and not too far from the big cities, and plenty of tracks to go watch a race at. now will someone please put up a new dirt mile and let us race cars on it ? this is our lineage to carry for the next generation or at least a high banked half mile please please please?
Fellow Hoosier and a fan of Tony since his early NASCAR days :D Notice how everything he says is "we" -- "our" -- "us" ---------> Sign of a true Team player! 🖖✌💨💨💨
Awesome video Tony! I like you am from a small town, Wapakoneta, then our family moved to Greenville, Ohio... although I probably have maybe 18 years on you, I am very impressed with your character, because of your love for your Dad & Mom and your Sister... and you seemed to be well grounded, never forgot who you were! Being an Indy Fan, that is when I first started following you. When you bought Eldora... which we always thought of as our hometown track, I started following your NASCAR Career as a fan. Good Luck with your future, and continue having fun... a fan from Greenville, Ohio
Folks, I live in Columbus. And that is who Tony really is. I have ran into him several times sitting with Bob at the dairy queen. He remembers where he came from . Bob is real special to him. Bob was his first sponsor for his go cart.
Yea what a real nice guy Tony Stewart is, He killed Kevin Ward jr. because of his uncontrolled temper. Then he just gets in his vehicle and goes home.....yes a really nice guy this one.
@@ramillerusa You are a complete D BAG. You understand that Ward was high on drugs, and should have not even been on the track. Toxicology report on Ward, stated he had enough drugs in his system to impair his judgement. Stewarts toxicology report came back clean. Ward's stupidity and addiction killed him, not Stewart.
Great to see you mention your history of Go Kart racing. I remember watching your class at Raah Speedway in Okaloosa Iowa at the 1987 IKF Grand Nationals. Great to see all of your success over the years. Racing Go Karts with my father for years are today the greatest memories I will ever have. So thankful for my father spending that racing money to make it happen. All amazing relationships we had at the race track are also memories to treasure. Thank You for taking the time to make this video. Mark Loughren
Thank you Tony for letting your fan's spent some moments of your life. A fellow Hoosier who has been following your career for many year's. I am 61 years old and, have been a huge race fan for 55 of those years after my first Indianapolis 500. Big weekend for race fans Indy and, Charlotte thanks again Smoke / Columbus Rocket it's been fun just thinking back to the first time I watch you race. Thanks....

I always drive by Columbus on my way to Kentucky for family visits. One of these days I'm just going to take the exit ramp and take a little tour of your hometown. My hometown is just north of Ft. Wayne,In.
I went To see him at a Christmas Sign and Greet in Rushville his rookie year when they named a Street after him by the Highschool😁! The Rushville Rocket was his nickname 🔥.
I was there!! It was a Toys For Tots chili supper at the fairground building. That street they renamed after him was where my high school was. RCHS. Pretty cool memories.
I never knew about Special Dogs & More until this and I’ve lived in Indianapolis for almost 10 years now. I’m definitely making a point to go check the place out. What an awesome interview. Thanks so much!
Hoosiers always come back to their roots, I'm from the region and I will always remember my roots. My Saturday night was Broadway Speedway & Sunday was the beautiful US 30 dragstrip... Wish U & Leah the best.
Hey Tony 👋 Thanks for sharing 👍 awesome hearing and seeing how people grow up . I was born and raised and still reside in Columbus Indiana. Its cool seeing you stick to your roots. Not all can say that especially someone as famous as yourself.
I really enjoyed this. As one who spent lots of time in Columbus, even lived there for a short time, I loved the tour. I loved seeing your and my late husband's high school. Went by that a lot.
Thanks for the video! Born and raised in Columbus and love the stroll down memory lane. Grew up a mile from the fairgrounds. Stopped by that Dairy Queen many times on the way home from PAL football at Parkside (when we weren't stopping at Becker's A&W) : )
VERY nice video. I know it would be hard to do but it would great to hear what some of the older people and friends had to say about you in your younger years.

Love this... I live up in Auburn which is a BIG car town and we have the same atmosphere up here. When it's Auburn Auction time, everyone crowds the streets and heads to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum parking lot to start showing off whatever they drove. I'm pretty you've been up here, but if you haven't we'd love to have ya. Alexis Dejoria and her race team hang out here quite a bit during the NHRA season and it's awesome to them roll in to town. Good stuff Smoke
@Copper Allen idk if you knew this but when you was talking about nhra drivers imma tell you this brittney force and Courtney force are mostly in the Indianapolis area
Great channel Tony ! Im 70 years old and I used to have a shop in Dallas Texas. I believe it was your rookie year and you drove the wheels of your car that day at Dallas Forth worth. To top it off on Monday I was on my way back to NY and was in the rental car bus at the Texas airport and part of your team was on that bus. The whole time I heard them critique how well you did. Congratulations on your well earned success and your recent engagement
Reminds me of my childhood Everytime we won a ball game Coaches parents n kids would all go for an ice cream at DQ. Love it from northwestern Ontario 🇨🇦
I grew up not far from Columbus and grew up watching Tony race nascar and I COULD NOT stand him. He has really grown on me the last several years and I now see how much I miss him in the sport as a driver. He brought a lot of color to the sport and that is something it lacks now.
Tony, learned about the Rockville rocket from a fellow Hoosier, as went longhauling thru the heartland.Love the whole experience different than the PNW I grew up in, know watch Donny, Brad ,Kasey, Dom, lil Scelzi, WOW, ALL STAR, DIRT IS WAY COOL
Great video Tony, look forward to seeing you at the Columbus track sometime this summer. Had a blast last year with karts and TQ's being there at the same time. Safe travels young man
I never raced a GoNever even knew they raced go carts on dirt.. I had my Dirt bikes and a little Motocorss and lots of trail riding in SW MI. I am following the Muder Story about Barry Morphew.. From Alexandria IN.. moved to CO in 2018 after burning so many Business Bridges with his Landscaping Business..
Tony, You graduated with my brother Jon Lawson @ Columbus North High School back in 1988 I believe! This is his little brother.. So proud that we have such an awesome race car driver call Columbus home! Have a great year!! -Paul Lawson
I’m just south of ya smoke, we down in north Vernon, aka the dirty Vern🤣🤣 We are all proud of all you have accomplished and done for this state and the town of Columbus it shows brother👊
So much human in Tony Stewart this is why we have you as an ambassador you're such a good person you care about your community and people around you that what that's what makes smoke great
I remember when Tony won the championship and they were celebrating in Las Vegas. He came home for the Christmas parade and I think we’re back the next day to Las Vegas. But he made a promise that he’d be in the parade and he kept it that’s the guy he is. I know he made my day when he shook my hand.
Never actually raced, but my grandpa use to take me to the local track by his house, and there was Wenniersnitchel right across the street from the track. We'd always stop and get Chilli dogs before the race. Always planned the day around stopping first
TONY, My family is from Indianapolis area. Moms from Crawfordsville and Dads from a farm in Waynestown Indiana. REAL GOOD PEOPLE THERE IN INDIANA. Mom born in 1922 & Dad 1918 same year as Billy Graham if that means n e thing to you. He moved to Kansas to start a church and he did. I miss going to Indiana as a kid. So I know where you came from and the type of people from there. THIS IS GOOD TONY. God Bless You Sir 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This will be a big in my little town too if you and Leah came through here and came in Domingo’s Mexican restaurant, in BORON California on your way to Famosa up in Bakersfield, my town is rite on the way loll, nice tony and Leah, love you guys thanks 🙏, thanks BigAl California.
I have family that lives near you and several years ago my nephew raced RC cars and met you. He was a champ at it and he made some cars for you. I thought that was awesome 👌 can't wait to see you in Nashville on July 17th :)
Man I still remember to this day being a kid on a field trip to the library and we stopped at dq on 3rd street I was around 9 or 10 years old and Tony was there and was nice enough to give me his autograph on a Dairy queen napkin I still have to this day great memories
Hi neighbor. Do you remember coming over to play Atari with Barry? You rode a path between our yard and the Stevenson’s yard with your bicycle. I remember scolding you for it once. 😂
Hello I know this doesn't have anything to do with this piece but I just got through watching the SRX race found it very interesting like the idea of promoting hometown race tracks talking about that I live in San Antonio Texas between San Antonio and poteet Texas there is a half mile oval with high bags that needs to be reopened they closed for several years I feel with the right promotion right back could be a great race track it's almost right across the highway for the Toyota plant. thank you
I didn't know there was racing on Saturday nights in Columbus....I would hit the destruction derby every now and then, especially during the fair....But my buddies and I always drove to Bloomington to see the races
Man I love Tony Stewart,,I still miss seeing him every Sunday,, I gotta get out to some all-star races this summer to see him..I got to see blaney win the other night at Sharon,, it's already been a great year for dirt lol
The stop at the Dairy Queen was just exactly what Hoosier small towns are all about. God Bless.
I had family in Frankfort. When I was a kid visiting the daily highlight was walking down the street to the local Ice cream shop
How I miss those days.
I miss the Hardees that was across the street. Until it was replaced by McDonalds.

As a Hoosier, rare seeing people who’ve even seen a little bit of success sticking to their roots. One of many things that makes smoke great
Glad he never forgot ,
So cool to see.
That’s why I’m still a fan
@nodonny8 yeah, he deserved it too!

My dad was born in Columbus Indiana (1932). He grew up in Burney.
You know what actually amazing you met my grandma when you walked in to get store absolutely amazing ❤️
I’m from central Indiana and enjoy any video like this, it’s just like how I grew up too. Thank you Tony,
Good memories that you will never forget. Sometimes you need just roll back the clock and reflect on the simpler times in life.
Reminds me of my childhood
Everytime we won a ball game
Coaches parents n kids would all go for an ice cream at DQ.
I live in Columbus and this is great to see this city on RUclips!

Liked this little trip thru your past.
Really enjoyed seeing this. Thanks for letting us hang out and sharing just a little bit of your day.✌✌
Loved there briefly for about a year working for Cummins. Love the town.
Tony is true small town America! This was just a great video! Just like John Mellencamp’s song, “I was born in a small town.”
As a Columbus resident this makes me feel amazing to have the Tony Stewart living here, and seeing my middle school is especially cool.
Special dogs is my spot man love that place and what it stands for great great people👍
Cool. Thanks Smoke. You'll have to put up some clips of the buddy bashes in the awesome bull ring.
Tony, You graduated with my brother Jon Lawson @ Columbus North High School back in 1988 I believe! This is his little brother.. So proud that we have such an awesome race car driver call Columbus home! Have a great year!! -Paul Lawson
Loved seeing my hometown through Tony's eyes. Spent a lot of time in that DQ.
You gotta do bacon in the oven Tony. Parchment paper on a sheet pan. Voila. Thank me later Smoke ;-).

I remember when Tony won the championship and they were celebrating in Las Vegas. He came home for the Christmas parade and I think we’re back the next day to Las Vegas. But he made a promise that he’d be in the parade and he kept it that’s the guy he is. I know he made my day when he shook my hand.
Yea I remember the night he killed Kevin Ward jr. www.cbsnews.com/video/spectator-videos-may-hold-clues-for-kevin-ward-jr-s-fatal-race-car-crash/
@@ramillerusa You mean when Kevin was high, stupid, and killed himself.
Never actually raced, but my grandpa use to take me to the local track by his house, and there was Wenniersnitchel right across the street from the track. We'd always stop and get Chilli dogs before the race. Always planned the day around stopping first
Pretty cool video. Do some videos of the inside garage you gotta have some cool cars.

Thanks Smoke that was so cool. Keep `em coming.
We used to buy a lot of parts from Diz over at Comet. Mostly bought used stuff that came off of Mark's karts because it was all my Dad could afford.
Thanks Tony. Great hearing about how it all started.
Man I love Tony so damn much. I hope I get to meet him when I go to the Slinger SRX race July 10th
Thanks Tony so much for sharing places that bring us into your life.
Good for you to not forget where you came from your the man smoke !
That was cool. Keep the content coming.
I left Columbus and moved to California for 3 years. I moved back home and was so glad to raise my kids here.
Man I love Tony Stewart,,I still miss seeing him every Sunday,, I gotta get out to some all-star races this summer to see him..I got to see blaney win the other night at Sharon,, it's already been a great year for dirt lol
How going Smoke, was awesome meeting you a few years ago in Sydney!
Tony… you’re awesome! Just waiting on the invite!
Awesome. We need more Smoke in NASCAR today.
