I'm in my 60's and he's one of my favorite players of all time. Truly a great player during the era when basketball was changing. Stopped the great UCLA team of that decade.
Isaiah says that Thompson hit his head on the back board, but actually Thompson was in the air and his leg hit Phil Spence's shoulder and caused Thompson to fall and get a concussion.
The greatest player of that era!
I remember the game like it was yesterday. I was 15 years old. NC State was my team. Great memories.
Addiction might have cut his NBA career short, but he had a great run and it's fitting that he's in the Hall of Fame. I followed his whole career and there's never been a player like him.

David and Marty started the alley oop when they discriminated against him by taking dunking out of college basketball. When he left college they put it back in.
They actually made the dunk illegal because of Kareem Abdul Jabar's dominance in the paint. Unfortunately David was sadly affected by that rule. (you meant Monte not Marty)
