Love it!!! Partying in the basement!!! Unfinished but having a blast!!! Love the kid sitting on the stairs watching the adults dance and have fun.....brought back memories of my family's new years eve parties in the 70's, unfinished basement and all!!!

This could have been my parents at a party in the unfinished basement. Women all dressed up, mom in her red velvet dress and rhinestone earrings and pin and men in suits. 60+ years ago....such awesome memories! I was 9.

I was 5 and living in Brooklyn on Dec. 31, 1957. My sister was 11 months old. I'd guess we were home that night. No doubt my parents were watching Guy Lombardo ring in 1958.

The years my parents were born, so cool to see! And my nana, my dad's mother she was going against the morals of the time having her first children at 17 and my dad at 19! It was definitely frowned upon back in those days!

My father was born in 57, my mother 58.

Not really! My mom was 19 when she had her my oldest brother and that was very normal. Couples got married young, had babies, and went to college. They had families. If your mom got pregnant in high school, yes that was bad. She was probably shunned.

did you ever hear of remote transmission? The announcer was in times square but Lombardo was in canada... that's the wonder of radio.. who would know? Lombardo was piped into the studio via telephone line and than broadcast out of New York...

The audio heard here is from the 1957-58 New Year's Eve TV broadcast from the Grill Room at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York city hosted by Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians on 12/31/1957. The announcer in Times Square is Robert Trout, a long time CBS correspondent. Lombardo hosted New Year's Eve in New York City until 1976. He died in November of 1977. You can watch the entire 1957-58 show here:
