    I'm glad they changed the lyrics from "do ya?" to "don't ya?". Adds more feeling to the song.

      What's nice is the implication that there are more versions. This one says at the start "number 8". Ditto with releases on any of the other albums.

      Yeah. The drums are just as sweet as the final version. They HAVE to be. No drinking for Johnny. He was too busy laying the perfect groove. Perfect groove. He was so goddamned good. A jazzer playing rock. On a 4-pc kit. This is what it sounds like, gents.

      Robbie wrote this one

    • @petet6851
      @petet6851 6 лет назад +9

      Yes Robbie wrote this. Although they credited all wiring to "the Doors" Jim DID NOT write this one.

    • @Robcatist
      @Robcatist 6 лет назад +4

      Pete T That was the great thing about Morrison he had no qualms singing Robbie’s songs other singer/songwriters their ego wouldn’t of let them.

    • @fernandolopez5610
      @fernandolopez5610 6 лет назад +4

      Robcatist later on, starting with their fourth album, he decided he wanted the specific writer to be cited. I think this was because on "Tell All The People", Robby wrote " grab your guns" (or something along those lines) and Jim did not want people to think that he was the one suggesting gun violence. Although, my own guess is that he didn't want some songs that Robby wrote attributed to him because he didn't like the lyrics or message or something. Personally, some of Robby's work is my most enjoyed Doors music.

      That's the thing about misfits 1977, 78, 79 recordings. There's more than a half dozen takes of each track. Then you get to choose which is your version. Same with nirvana and nevermind, in utero, and even unplugged. Unplugged had the whole rehearsals that were alternate to the actual performance. But nevermind had the butch vig ones, the Devonshire ones and others.

    Just seen Robby on this years tour. He wrote this song and at the show Robby's son sang this song. This is sort of weird because Robby wrote it about how is marriage was rocky at the time. Having Waylon sing it was like pulling it together in far out living experience from hell. Waylon commented on what he had seen and experienced as a young boy. Priceless.

    Αρκετά χρόνια πριν, είχα αυτό το τραγούδι, ως σήμα σε μιά ραδιοφωνική εκπομπή που έκανα.
    Ήταν άλλες εποχές.
    Η μουσική είχε νόημα, είχε χαρακτήρα.
    Εξαιρετικό άσμα!
    Όσα χρόνια κι αν περάσουν, είναι επίκαιρο κι ακούγεται, χορεύεται, ψιθυρίζεται...

    I love listening to doors alternate takes, in particularly Robbie’s guitar solos.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE the doors. Jim? What a waste. But who would want to see or listen to an old Jim Morrison? He's young forever and that's the way I think he needs to be seen and remembered.

      Don't mind seeing and hearing an old Robert Plant, just wish he were with a better group, a Zeppelin reunion.

    At the end of the video he no longer looks like a rock star , but more what he actually was, a Wordsmith and a poet ...a haunted look is captured in the lens , a man who had seen and done it all and sang to millions ...a man running from something?

      Wesserparaquat, oh I remember paraquat. Hope your brain was not addled from the spraying. That aside, though this reply is three years later, may I post a comment to yours. Jim was running, brother. He was running from his demons. Self involved deamons. One can not do drugs, live the free 'whatever I do's don't's harm me's because I thinks I knows whats I be doings, life and escape unharmed. He fucked his self up, friend. Jimi, Janis, Jim, ... they all fucked themselves up. If Robert Plant had not lost a son, then he too would have fucked himself up as well. Being a shithead dope fiend, no matter how great your art is, does not make you immune to the sickle. We lost because they were too self involved with their own puke and shit, thinking it din't stink. The only consolation is this. At least their art was recorded so we may enjoy it posthumously.

    WOW! I might like this version more than the original. The lyrics are only slightly different. Ray Manzarek only plays an electric piano instead of a tack piano and organ. Robbie's guitar work is SPOT on. Jim Morrison sounds SO forlorn. John's drumming is great as always. I never saw them Live but I love the music and listen to them ALL the time. They DON'T make bands like this anymore!
