❤ thank you ladies for your podcasts. One of the highlights of my day. Loved the idea of putting the yarn over my neck when winding. Less tangles. Needles Up!

Sue, I went through exactly the same thing when I moved from PA to Delaware. Lived in PA for almost 30 years and I felt lost, unsettled, often unhappy, doubtful in Delaware. Change is so hard as you get older. My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 6 mos. after our move, so my mindset changed quite quickly. Six years later, my husband is cancer free ( part of the 2% club) and this home, this small beach town, our neighbors, became our healing place. I still miss PA sometimes, but this has become home. Vermont will become your new cherished home, too. Give it time.

Sue, I went through something very similar when we came home from a 2 week trip to China, where we adopted our daughter. Hubby's parents were house and cat sitting, and I come home, with a new baby to care for, house guests who were staying for a few more days to "help", I was jetlagged, and I felt shell shocked! I couldn't fathom how to put a meal together! It took me quite a while to get into my new routine. But I got there, and she's now a full grown 29 year old amazing person! And I am sane. (Or at least I think I am. 🤣)

I think the moving blues are totally a thing, no matter how excited you are about the move! I moved 15 minutes north and I still felt like it took a lot of time to settle into the community and figure out my normal "go-tos". Chelsea I'm excited for you to get back into dancing! I ice skated growing up and I joined an adult skating team and it has been so much fun and rewarding. thanks for the video!

I enjoy all of your podcasts but this one was special as it reminded me of your early podcasts when Chelsea lived in Connecticut with Sue. Dickies were worn under a shirt or sweater and yes I wore them in the sixties. It was more of a fashion trend than for warmth.

Sue I agree moving can be a blessing but there is also an adjustment period. We moved 12 years ago across the state when our kids were toddlers. I was so lonely and went to counseling to help with the adjustment. I volunteered and joined the library to help spark personal connections. Mostly I gave myself permission to go slow and adjust my expectations. Wishing you a peaceful winter.

Five years ago my husband and I moved from Maryland where we were married raised our 3 children and lived for 35+ years to Georgia to be near our one son and 2 grandchildren. It is an ongoing adjustment certainly filled with challenges. Finding friends has been the hardest part especially for an introvert. We find planning trips to visit our other kids helps. Thankfully we have hobbies and a church knitting group plus the grandkids have lots of sporting events that we enjoy. Hang in there, Sue you have a lot of good things going for you!

We too moved from Northern Indiana to North Carolina 6 yrs ago, and I still feel much like you. I can’t think of dinners to make ( tho used to host as many as 20 for Thanksgiving), have made no real friends ( I guess I need to join groups/clubs) and still miss my previous home! But thanks ( no thanks) for convincing me to order a couple Satsuma Kits ( they have a sale going on)!

After living in central PA for 30 years, I moved near my oldest child and family outside of Philadelphia. I moved in on a Saturday and on Monday was at the library to sign up for the knitting group……and was told it wasn’t in existence any longer since there wasn’t enough interest. I took a deep breath and said that I’d like to start it up again. 5 years later, we have between 6-8 and 14 in attendance on a weekly basis. That’s been my intro to a new community. I’ve met the most wonderful knitters/women. At one point, I was involved in 3 groups and now it’s two a week. I was amazed how ‘easy’ it was to move when my children were young and still in school. This was different…..but it still worked just a bit differently. Wishing you a smooth ‘reentry’ and be kind to yourself. The vegetables are a whole other ‘animal’….. same issue for me. Let everyone know how that works out!! Have a fabulous week!❤

Giggling over the dickies conversation because yes, I think of Eddie too! Chels, we're the same exact age (so maybe we're equally scarred by Eddie lol), and the only use for them I've ever had was in middle school marching band. I played flute, and we would spend many a frosty morning in Michigan practicing our marching around a big, freezing field, and as ridiculous as the dickie looked, I will say one thing for it: it was WARM. It's basically a mock turtleneck without all the bulk under a marching uniform, but boy did it help on those cold days! Definitely not a fashion statement piece though. 😂😂

Wowowow 😮yes, definitely the cooking and acclimating struggle is real! I moved from CT to PR a year ago and it has been very difficult to get use to the new food prep process. 😔😣! I am enjoying PR, being close to extended family and our new home but changes are challenging. I came back to CT for Thanksgiving and it was shocking and painful 😖 because I felt out of my element. Who knew change was so hard!! 12:13

Love to you both!!! Sue, I moved from Southern Ohio to Western Massachusetts almost 23 years ago. I was so happy to move to New England and am still so glad to live here (17 minutes from Webs). But, it still took me a while to settle in. Sending you lots of ease and peace for settling in. I have enjoyed you and Chelsea for years and have loved watching you all progress through the seasons! Love to you all! ♥️🐑♥️🐑♥️

Hi Ladies! ❤ Sue, I have so many thoughts on this. 😅 I think as creative people, we crave balance and routine. Our minds are extremely full and ready to plunge into so many different things… and when my routine gets shaken up I am just “off”. So dinners become stressful, clean Ng the house becomes annoying and I need to just simplify and reset. Xoxo

As a former CT resident, 20 years in VT, I remember November was a tough month to get through that first year. Sue, I think an Ott-lite would help you immensely. I used a day light my first winter every night as I would knit or read. We painted with lighter colors, the ceilings are white, got rid of the multi shades of taupe, and dark floors it made a difference. If you use the Ott-lite especially in the late afternoon and evening, I think you would find it helps. Hannaford has a lot of local farm vegetables.

Love your tr skirt...if you cant get all the squares attached, concider trying adding them in between the others but with a corner attached instead of a side.the sides wold mmatch to the sides of th flat sqares...and you'll have 3 points. As llong as it lies flat...it might just work and the lat one could be at the end and be loose to lie over otherend when wrapped round the tree...no gaps.

Every single time we have moved, I have had the same problem! I felt most homesick in the supermarket. This last time I asked the supermarket for a map layout of the aisles and spent some time looking at it when I made my next shopping list. Knowing where things were made it so much better. If your store doesn't offer that, you can always take a picture of the aisle markers so you know what's in each one to help give you a layout. xo And...if it makes you feel any better, last night I ate nachos, in bed watching Netflix at like 4:30 pm haha!!

Hi Ladies, when I was in grade school in the 60s I had a few dickies. A white, navy and I think black. My mom made me wear them in the winter, but under sweaters that you couldn’t see through. When I got to jr high, early 70s I refused to wear them! 😂.

Moving blues are so real…still getting used to our area even after more than a year here! It felt so much better once I established a group of friends though. Maybe it’s a Gen-z thing…but I’m so into dickies and the high socks with my tennis shoes. Fashion ebbs and flows I think

I can relate to your move Sue. I transitioned from living in Tokyo to a tiny Idaho mountain town in May. It’s culture shock in reverse. Food is very difficult. I don’t have an answer, just empathy. I don’t know anyone but a few people and my two brothers. I love it here for various reasons but it’s a bit tricky. Hang in there.

Sue... If there is a library close see if they have a knit group or some kind of meeting room. You could start a fiber art group once a week in a meeting room. I felt the way you do when we moved to a town outside Santa Fe 3 years ago. didn't take long to find my peeps I feel your pain ps. my joanne is tiny and mostly empty

Dickies were a thing. A way to keep your neck warm without having to wear an extra layer of a turtleneck shirt under a sweater. And not as bulky as a shawl or scarf. Love to see you guys together.

You guys are adorable! Thank you for making us feel alright to use yarn from big box stores. After seeing your sweaters for the girls I’m knitting a sweater for my grandson. He can’t wait he’s so knit worthy
Question, how exactly do you wash your acrylic sweaters? Do you put it in a lingerie bag? wash on delicate? cold? dryer? Thx in advance! Cant wait for next episode! Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🍽 🧡🤎 🦃

OH my goodness. I think about that all the time!! How do some people not have any hobbies?!?!?! I feel like I want to do all the things all the time. Maybe I am undiagnosed with ADHD and I just can't actually sit still even though I think I like that?? Lol. Knitting is my go-to, but I just love making things of all kinds. Are there actually people who just don't do anything?? Are they relaxed because they have so much more time doing nothing? Or are they bored? Or maybe they have all this pent up anxiety because they don't have a hobby to put it all into!??! Obviously nobody watching y'all has any of these answers for me or us. But it's nice to know that I'm not the only one with the questions!
