Wonderful video Mr Scott! I'd like to add that yelling at the pests while spraying them with the hose is also therapeutic. Lol!
My Dad used to say that if you learn from your mistake then it's a mistake well made.
The garden is my sanctuary. It's where I'm one with God, it's where I've felt his presence the most. It wasn't until my 30s when I really grasped the Parable of the Mustard Seed. It's when I held an actual mustard seed in my hand. I've only planted it once and that tiny seed produces a HUGE plant. Such a tiny little miracle.

We have always gardened, we raised our kids on gardening and our oldest son really took to it. Every year, he was out there ready to go. In 2019, just after the final plant was planted we lost him unexpectedly. I couldn't bring myself to leave the house let alone garden. Everyone else took over, that year i didnt can, my family deeply concerned. I just needed time. During, fall chick day's, I found myself at the store and I bought 16 chicks and 2 ducklings. Noone said a word just watched me daily fool with the babies. Then 2020 happened, and I went to the garden and it was okay. I felt close to our son again. The garden brings me peace, I feel connected to our son, remember when, and when I'm outside I'm barefoot, I connect to the earth. So yeah , gardening is definitely therapeutic.
Like you , i like knowing whats in my food, we are organic and the more we grow the less we buy from mass markets.
If anyone is grieving, I suggest gardening. It truly stills your mind and I found so much peace and comfort within the garden.

Yeah man I've been thinking about it so much lately; the fact that a tiny seed could produce such a large plant capable of bearing fruit really blows my mind. I suppose it's no different than a human at conception, but it's like we're seeing it actually happen and harvesting the reward. To me, there is nothing else in the world quite like gardening. God Bless you man of God!

So funny you said that. I told my husband God gave us a plant to eat the fruit or vegetable, then he taught us to not be greedy by saying, let that seed mature, then I’ll give you a hundred plants from that one little cherry tomato, you just have to save one. It amazes me.

Scott great reasons why gardening is therapeutic. Along with your stated reasons, here are a few I believe....I don't have the scientific studies to prove it, but I believe gardening, digging in the soil is beneficial to your immune system. Gardening makes me feel joy when I can pull up a carrot I planted, or pick a big juicy tomato off the vine and stand at the sink and eat it like an apple. Gardening gives me joy when I can take a cutting from one of my fruit trees and start another fruit tree from it, grow it and then give it to someone to plant in their yard and enjoy. Gardening has enabled me to taste fruits I have never eaten before for example I picked and ate my first loquat this year and 2 years ago I ate my first jujube fruit off my tree. I get joy when I have surplus bounty and can share it with my neighbors and friends. Gardening saves me money when I need a little cilantro, or basil, or dill for a recipe and I can walk out in my backyard and get it, cause I planted it. So along with all the great reasons you stated, JOY is my favorite benefit of gardening.

Far too many times folks take credit (And I am also guilty of this) for what God does in this world. I have never nor will i Ever be able to grow anything, because I am just a tool that God has used to plant a seed and when God grows the seed, I am still a tool that God uses for his garden to take care of his plants. I say this because last year, our little Garden beds produced MORE than they ever have and we were blessed to be able to share the crops with family, friends, neighbors and the local church food pantry. When I dropped these crops off at the church, the pastor asked me if I grew these crops and I replied Yes, and it weighted heavy on me til a few days later a friend and I were talking and he basically asked me the same question. I couldn't answer in the same way as I did to the pastor. I told him "I could never ever grow a seed, only God can do that. I just take care of the plant when God makes them grow".
Out in Nature, I feel closer to God than any other place around on earth, and that also includes some Churches. Not saying that they're not good churches out there because I am sure they are, only that I haven't found one yet where I feel closer to God than in my own Garden or the Woods doing what I love to do. Makes me wonder if Jobs ever attended a Church, or was a part of a religious organization. I don't recall the bible ever speaking about that. If I remember right, he was a Farmer though.

God said we as humanity would forever toil the earth as a result of Adam's sin. For some of us I believe we received this redemption in the form as a gift. Thoughts? My hands love the feel of soil... seasons change & I happily await the sprout that soon emerges from the seed planted. Every single one is a gift from God!! Every seed a miracle!
