I really liked this video. I appreciate that you did not stop the filming but kept on dealing with the disaster. Make more of these surprised videos because they certainly educational. Please give us an update in the near future on this orchid. Will be curious to see how it does.
I am so glad you posted this. I got a good laugh out of your repeat on the breaking part. LOL DunDUN DUNNNNNN. Good job on trying to recover it, hopefully it pulls through! The new growth is definite signs of hope!
oh my god.. i havo no heart :D i just bursted out laughing when you just pulled the two pseudobulbs out! But that certainly is an interesting case... wouldn't it be amazing if all of these orchids are different? :)
Hallo ich hoffe das ich von Dir mal eine Antwort erhalte. Meine Frage, würdest Du mir empfehlen meine Dendtobium nach der Blüte zurück zuschneiden um den Neuaustrieb anzuregen? Lg.Karsten
Thanks so much for your videos - it's really instructive to understand how to approach situations that go wrong. Things like this happen to me all the time as I'm learning. I picked up a dendrobium in an old 2nd hand store the other day. The bulbs were buried about 2 inches in regular potting mix, and half rotting. I have split the plant up, and repotted it in bark. Fingers crossed things improve from here :)
I've learned from this video (I'm new to growing orchids). I appreciate your posting this. I look forward to seeing how these canes recover... The education continues. lol!
I think they will grow into 3 big orchids. I have broken tiny pseudobulbs (seedling type ones) and they are actually growing really well! I am lazy and put them in with any orchids that I have growing in sphagnum moss even if it's a totally different orchid...
Well that was wierd my comment from before the video did not post when I posted it. LOL. Anyway, WOW! I DID not see that coming! I almost had a 'heart attack' :) Most interesting video! Thanks bunches :)
AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!😵😵😵😵😵AS SOON AS YOU PULLED THE CANE I DIED!!!!😷😷😵😵I FEEL SO SORRY YOU!! I NEVER TRUST A DENDROBIUM THAT LOOKS SICK. One of my dendrobiums were rotting but the infected portion was green!😱 THIS IS THE SADDEST REPOTTING IVE SEEN!!!😵( how can orchids be treated like this???😶) I love how you show both the bad and good of growing orchids. YOUR ALMOST NEAR 40000 SUBS!!! HAVE AND AMZING DAY!!!
OMG i never saw something like this bevore 🤤 i thought everything in the Pot will be completely rotten. I think you'll have 2 different Plants, can't wait to see how it will grow. Other Theme, can you tell me how many time your Orchids (Phal. and Dendro.) needs to dry Off? I mean the Medium. Thank you. 🌸
i just bought a dendrobium hard cane. that wasnt in the best shape at the shop. its all over pale pink flowers. im hoping it survives. it has had a bit of damage to the crown of one of its younger canes. how oftern do the hard canes need watering?
hey danny! i was wondering (kinda the oppiste of the video topic) what is the largest orchid bloom? a search for "largest orchid" turns up the tiger orchid which seems to be the largest unit. i was wondering flower size. sorry thank you
I have a Dendrobium Polar Fire, Is it normal that roots are white? I think my irkid was in the same disgusting medium as yours (to the point that by squeezing it, it drops water!) even if it is in bloom I would like to repots it! Is bark the good choice?
Dani, please help me. I just received a mini Dendrobium and cattleya orchids and was both by my daughter from a nursery. Both are in a 3-inch soft plastic pot which I think has sphagnum moss as the medium. The aerial roots of the Dendrobium look dry as well as the blooms. Should I repot both in 3-inch plastic pots again or can I use a 4.5"? I have several of the 4.5" however I can use a disposable plastic 3-inch from used drinking cups. The Dendrobium is called Hamana Lade Dream and the Cattleya is Barefoot Mailman. Also, what kind of medium should I use on both. I am a new orchid follower. Thank you.
Hi, yes you can repot them in a bigger pot, but soak the existing moss so it's easier to remove. You can pot them in what medium you like, but since they were in moss try to not let them dry for too long, as roots are used to a more compact medium now. More on it here ruclips.net/video/dEjcJiluF6w/видео.html good luck!
Amazing Orchids. You have me in awe!!!! I was given a double-spike, salmon coloured orchid as a gift a few months back. Its bloomed faded and i cut the spike. The wooden stakes that the spikes were attached to were put in an awkward spot right near the leaves. The large leaves where propped up on the stakes. I did not think of that as a concern, but as i removed the stakes, the leaves were still in the same exact position. The leaves are stuck in a sense in the same position. Is there anything i can do to fix that? :/
Ouch! Do you find you get any fungal growth on your bamboo skewers when you use them this way? The ones I've used tend to go fuzzy after two or three weeks.
Paint the ends with a coating of nail polish! Doesn't matter what kind, they pretty much last forever once you do this. I believe she has a video on this a couple months back.
Phalaenopsis require no direct light (full sun will kill them, even partial sun can result in sunburn if it's too strong) and need a bark medium to grow in, they don't have canes or pseudobulbs and just grow leaves on the crown. Dendrobium typically can withstand up to full sun and usually require a stone or clay medium. They have canes and pseudobulbs that grow over time and produce new leaves and flower spikes.
this was so funny. something like this always happen to me. haha. but i must ask, i upload videos and cant choose which picture for the video, how do i do this?
i have 2 dendrobiums one nobilae and the other mini(?). i can't make them grow straight nor have full trunks and flower rarely. i repot and repot but they are stuborn. any ideas?
Most likely not enough light, they need a lot of light to flower. Might need an adjustment period to get used to stronger light if they currently don't have enough as well. Also what''s your fertilizer regimen?
Thanks. i really dont know exactly what conditions dendrob need and I DO HAVE A LIGHT problem. the only remedy i have is to put it outside (now coming summer its going to be soon 15-32 C degrees outside). Fertilizer, i have bought some special for orchids, liquid, one cap once a month. The media is wood chips/cork. It 8s very hard & expensive to get orchids esp other than phaenelops. I'll risk to put it on the porch (open), part sunny. how about windy? will they mind much? thnks.
I get some 25 mph winds and not had any problems really. But I'm in Hawaii so I can't really tell you much except I keep my dendrobiums outside. As long as they don't go below 15 they should be ok it was a really cold winter here this year and it dropped to 15c at night for a few weeks.
well i'll risk and put on porch. what media is suitable between: bark, wood chips, lava rock, coconut "hair" this is what there is here. thnks, wish me luck -:).
I have a beautiful dark purple dendrobium, unfortunately it came from the garden center and yup peat moss potted, gave it a few days to get used to my home then repotted, now ive 2 but after seeing this video it seems im going to have to check the rest as ive 4 stems in one pot thinking as 1 came away easily it was just 2 separate plants. It was in bloom when i bought it so has just come out of bloom the leafy stems are going paper like? i assume thats fine im used to moth orchids so am learning with this beauty
hi am sending msg frm India pls cn u tel me how to save debdrobium orchid keikis....my orchid keiki it has been separated frm mother plant sooo pls tel me hw to save it
does it have roots? If it does, pot it up with moss for a few weeks for more root growth. If the root system is large, pot it up in your original mix. It should be okay. If it does not have roots, try to lay it in damp moss for a while, see if it grows any.
I really liked this video. I appreciate that you did not stop the filming but kept on dealing with the disaster. Make more of these surprised videos because they certainly educational. Please give us an update in the near future on this orchid. Will be curious to see how it does.
The music when the "incident" happens! 😆 You sure do know how to make the most of a situation.
This is my favourite re potting video ever
Can’t believe your current in bloom video brought me here just to make me SCREAM
I am so glad you posted this. I got a good laugh out of your repeat on the breaking part. LOL DunDUN DUNNNNNN. Good job on trying to recover it, hopefully it pulls through! The new growth is definite signs of hope!
It’s been 2 years and I’m still coming back to this video because of 1:41 😂
3 years and same
Glad You showed this. You are the best!
oh my god.. i havo no heart :D i just bursted out laughing when you just pulled the two pseudobulbs out! But that certainly is an interesting case... wouldn't it be amazing if all of these orchids are different? :)
WOW I was NOT expecting that O.O
Is there any update on what happened with this orchid? Did she pull through? Was she actually 2 or even 3 different orchids? I'm so eager to know! :)
Me too!
Me too!
Hi Danni
Your videos are so informative, thank you! I bought a Dendrobium in a similar medium. I changed it to leca so hoping it will be ok.
I hated it but the option for thumb down is not available, so I thumbed it up! Thanks for a good video.
Interesting video ! Learned a lot from your experience re- potting that plant ... Thank you for sharing...
Wow! What a great video :-)
There are people growing orchids very successfully in peat-moss (normally with pearlite and/or gravel) because it allows less frequent watering.
Hallo ich hoffe das ich von Dir mal eine Antwort erhalte.
Meine Frage, würdest Du mir empfehlen meine Dendtobium nach der Blüte zurück zuschneiden um den Neuaustrieb anzuregen?

Thanks for sharing, you are still my orchid guru XXX
Do you have an update for this Danny? Would love to see how different they ended up. Great channel, have been a follower for years

You have such a nice voice Dani! I love watching your videos!
Do u have the followups about these orchids.
Well that was wierd my comment from before the video did not post when I posted it. LOL. Anyway, WOW! I DID not see that coming! I almost had a 'heart attack' :) Most interesting video! Thanks bunches :)
I had a chen tzy hybrid snd it did ok. use coarse sand with sphagnum moss, some of these orchids need lots of moist air moving past roots.

My foxtail orchid flower is withering without even blooming .what is the possible reason for that..can you please help
I laughed so hard because things happen and I've had many moments like this! Is there any update on this??
What medium for potting?
OMG i never saw something like this bevore 🤤 i thought everything in the Pot will be completely rotten.

I think some sort of rot, sorry for the pessimisme :(... can't wait to see how it turns out though!

Does this orchid plant live in the same soil as most others like phalaenopsis?
I have a Dendrobium Polar Fire, Is it normal that roots are white? I think my irkid was in the same disgusting medium as yours (to the point that by squeezing it, it drops water!) even if it is in bloom I would like to repots it! Is bark the good choice?

@@MissOrchidGirl Thank you Dani. I keep re watching your videos for tips.
What medium are you using to pot the dendrobium? It looks like little balls?
Amazing Orchids. You have me in awe!!!!

No, also you shouldn't have cut the bloom spikes until they go brown, phaelopnis can grow kekis on the spike and they can rebloom from them as well.
I think there is a critter feeding on the root system. slug, snail, etc.
it looks like they made a HUGE mistake, then just tried to bury the evidence, and sell it anyway.

I use 100% lava rock but they dry out fast and I water almost daily because of the heat.
Oláa,boa noite! Adorei seu canal 👏👏👏👏👏

Omg. Am so sorry. But i cant stop laughing. And am sry thats heart breaking.
It's ok it's meant to be funny :p
Never had luck with these kind of Orchids. They often are in poor health and i never could save them, so i will never try again.
1:43 how could this happened to me I made my mistakes
hi am sending msg frm India pls cn u tel me how to save debdrobium orchid keikis....my orchid keiki it has been separated frm mother plant sooo pls tel me hw to save it
does it have roots? If it does, pot it up with moss for a few weeks for more root growth. If the root system is large, pot it up in your original mix. It should be okay. If it does not have roots, try to lay it in damp moss for a while, see if it grows any.
AHAHA deadly funny
Eek! Your scissors sound horrible! Like fingernails on chalkboard! But I liked the video, poop happens to all of us once in a while. 🙄
