Propedeutic Case Methodology (ANALYSIS OR CASE STUDY: Harvard Method -MdC-)

In business or business administration careers, which are taught at many universities, they have a study curriculum that does not allow all the skills to be developed in the students, mainly managerial skills.
Many students start their degree and finish it, without any work experience, acquiring only theory, which often does not adapt to the reality of work. Work experience is important because it develops important knowledge and skills for decision making.
The question is, how to bring that experience to the university classrooms, what methodology to use so that those students who do not have the opportunity to develop in the workplace can learn management, conflict resolution and scenario analysis.
Well, there is a methodology that has served to fulfill this objective, called case methodology (case study).
The methodology is based on the resolution of a case, which a case is the vehicle by means of which a piece of reality is brought to the classroom so that the students and the teacher examine it thoroughly. A good case keeps the discussion of some of the stubborn facts one must face in certain real-life situations focused. ” (Lawrence, 1953).
Asopa and Beve (2001) define the MoC as a learning method based on active, cooperative participation and on the democratic dialogue of the
students about a real situation. This definition highlights three fundamental dimensions within the MoC: 1) the importance of the students taking an active role in the case study, 2) that they are willing to cooperate with their peers and 3) that dialogue is the essential basis to reach consensus and joint decision-making.
