  • This isn't clickbait.
An insane amount of stuff was just abandoned when a property was sold, and now my company (who are in charge of the demolition) have to figure out what to do with all of it.

It's like finding the lost city of gold and knowing that there is no way to get any of the treasure back to civilization to cash in on it. The wheels were turning in my head about all of the cool ways to cash in on the haul. Too cool!

Years back, my workshop had a lot of similar equipment in it too; so I can feel the excitement, and at a certain point in time I too would have been eyeing up the various items you have here for particular tasks (hehe) - but I also know what it is like to shut a business and sell all that off too.
I would say, look for a way to make money using it rather than just selling it. Sell off some of it for sure, but if you can retain some and make money off it, or link a new business-in and get a cut (or create one of your own), then that would be a good/meaningful use for it.
Are your boys interested in hands-on things yet?

I know some folks back here in the states who repair and mod point and shoot cameras. It wouldn't be a terrible idea to sell all the broken cameras as a lot for some enthusiast to take their chances with. Old point and shoots are becoming super popular right now.

If you put some of those Olympus cameras for sale keep posted. It was an amazing find. Thrifters dream come true all the finds.

Mate that’s the biggest opportunity you will ever have. Ever. You could set up multiple businesses from the stuff there. There’s plenty of industrial salvage companies that would love to fly out and pick stuff. The chairs. A dollar each. The fans are ridiculously coveted. The cabinets. Stuff people just overlook.

There is so much I could use (bench grinder, sand blaster etc.). Too bad I'm in Canada.

I know... I have multiple friends I want to gift tools to but they are on the opposite side of the planet. I also want one of everything but my home workshop is a single room on the third floor, with only single phase power.

You can distribute it to children who will know its value

That’s insane. The scale of what is left is just bonkers. There must be the options to gift items to the under privileged schools or charities.

Yeah, it wasn't until I started working in this industry, a few years back, that I realized just how often this type of thing occurs and just how much stuff ends up getting junked for essentially no reason.

That would be cool. There are still several buildings to go through.

@@SkylerKing a few years ago my company move to a new building. It was amazing how much stuff they left behind that could be easily reused. I found several nice pens.
