Just how I remember school dinners, if I close my eyes I can taste it, you and Sharon are geniuses at taking us back to times that matter in our lives. 😘
Don't think I've read any negative comments on any of your vids. And the reason why: You two cook food that 'normal' people cook/eat. Could also be a generational thing too...back in the late 60s our school dinners we cooked by real cooks from scratch like this, cooking food that filled kids up. Quite a few kids at my school had free school dinners: might have been the only meal they got each day. I'm with Sharon (must be something in the name 😉): I love my slow cooker for meats like this. Plus I cook my pork joint in there too: ends up so tender. Great vid ❤️
Different to my school dinners as this looks absolutely delicious! Also at my school they always cooked the pastry separate from the meat in a slab and funnily enough it wasn't too bad! This was in the early 1960's. Thanks for yet another brilliant episode, it brings a smile to my face.
I love watching you two the videos are great. Thank you for conversion chart received it today. Thanks for making me smile as I lost my husband in April and you both give me something to look forward to enjoy the school dinner much love X X X
Love you Guys ❤️ I've just cooked mince & onions in the slow cooker to do a pie just like you guys have done even got the cabbage ready 👍🏻 the oldies are the best 👌 xxxxxxxx Thanks Sharon and Martin this is my grown up Son's favourite dinner!! ❤️
Thanks for making these videos I want to make this dish soon. Always a good quality video with a lot the butlers humor mixed in. Always good solid entertainment thanks folks Best wishes from Norway 🇳🇴
You could have gone up for seconds! 😋 That looks really good. You nailed it! Didn't mind school dinners. But every now and then we'd sneak out to the chippy for a bag of chips!
Just perfect! But we had that for our night time Dinner( tea), out here in Aussie land & in winter time.,as we always took sandwiches to school for lunch. Elaine from Queensland.
Had to watch just for seeing the words 'scooped mash potato' alone. The crust on the pie looked awesome. Brought back such strong memories I could taste it myself 🙂
I know this is nothing to do with, The school dinner, which is good by the way, But your yorkshire pudding recipe, I had 3 left over so I put it in a bag then the freezer (as an experiment)for a few days, and then reheated it from frozen and it was great, So I guess what I'm saying is I've cooked extra n frozen them ,cos they freeze real well x
Now that looked absolutely delicious,i do hope Martin (little Johnny) lol enjoyed his dinner 😂 the pie was making my belly grumble with hunger it all lloked very nice wow. 😊❤
I totally forgot about this meal at school I'm so glad you recreated it .Abig big thank you for Sharons cookery skills it looks so scrummy and mouth watering . Big thanks to you both , Kevbo&Jackie
Just seen the Xmas cake made in the Cosori 3.5, I’ve just ordered this Airfryer, can’t wait for it to be delivered on 2nd November. I really like watching you both cook. Well done ❤
Who's a good boy then, eat all your dinner now I have made it and dished it up for you. Go and sit at the table with your friends ok . Thank you Martin. 😊😊😅😅😂❤🎉xx
Bloomin' 'eck, braising steak and steak pies. Where did you go to school Martin - Eton? Mind you, it is posh darn Sowf. Butter and milk in the mash too, gosh. Here in the NW we might have got minced beef and onion pie now and then. We also used to get braised Beef Heart about once a fortnight. I liked it but it always left a kind of furry feeling on the roof of your mouth. With the standard (lumpy) mash and over-boiled cabbage. Marvellous looking pie that is and the rest too.
School dinners were a nightmare for me! Being severely allergic to any animal based food I was a challenge to 1970’s dinner ladies, a challenge they simply did not want and the could not comprehend someone back then having allergies. I could have had chips, I could have had roast or mashed potatoes and hot veggies that were served at each meal but, because they thought I was “fussy” they decided that all I was allowed to eat was salad, all year round! And back then it was an English salad so two bits of lettuce, half a tomato and a few slices of cucumber, no oils, no salad creams just a slice of dried bread! So while everyone else had lovely food I had to sit there and eat just about the most bland meal you could imagine. Add in that most teachers were young so wanted to keep in with the hip crowd and be popular plus I’m dyslexic it is fair to say I hated especially my secondary modern school days, ignored by the teachers because I was not one of the in crowd drones and fed crap as a punishment for daring to have food allergies! I remember my last day which back then came after we received our exam results standing up at the goodbye assembly and taking the opportunity to tell them what I thought of the school, the teachers and the dinner ladies. I called the teachers cowards, the dinner ladies evil and the headmaster incompetent and walked out and have never been back since! I never had children but if I did, based upon my experience I would have sacrificed everything to give them a private education, bunch of utter wankers the lot of them! Sorry Martin, you can see 42 years later I still hold a grudge against the lot of them! I hope you had a better time of it than me!
me mum does it just the same and i still get me mother to cook em when i go to see her but the only thing is it tastes better than them school dinners in the 80s but i used love school diners and sponge pink custard or ginger sponge with lemon sauce was my favourite
Tell me this Martin when you have dull plastic on a lawnmower if you put a heat gun on it for seconds the plastic look like new again ( let me know please )
Most of my school dinners were horrible - veg was always boiled, resulting in the healthy properties being absorbed into the water, which ended up being chucked out - didn’t always know how to do mash properly - “boiled potatoes” was the norm!

Martin sounds happy.
How long do you cook the beef and onion in gravy in slow cooker please
About 4 hours
Thank you for letting me know I've tried lots of the food you do and I enjoy them evertime ❤
Just found your channel, fun and cooking, brilliant.( I have subscribed)
Awesome, thank you Gary.
I suppose it depends where the dinner was made. A lot of schools didn't have kitchens. If they were cooked on site they were definitely better
I'm a new sub. Love love love 😊
Thanks for subbing!
In the 80’s the best we got was minced beef pie
Could I have it over the peas and pie miss, Sharon’s reply GOODBYE 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

lol, I didn't like school either. Different world back then though.
Cooking is to be fun and entertaining
How long did you cook the meat for sharon, I must have missed that bit. That's a new tip I've learnt with the pastry, it's a good idea
Dinner loves nice, but I also love your hair colour, really suits you.
me mum does it just the same and i still get me mother to cook em when i go to see her but the only thing is it tastes better than them school dinners in the 80s but i used love school diners and sponge pink custard or ginger sponge with lemon sauce was my favourite
Brilliant
My recollection of the mashed potatoes is they were lumpy. Dinner ladies called them "muscles" for some odd reason.
Oh lordy yes.
Tell me this Martin when you have dull plastic on a lawnmower if you put a heat gun on it for seconds the plastic look like new again ( let me know please )
It doesn't last and you could melt the plastic too if your not careful David.
Thank you for that mr lawnmower man 👨
