She confirms that Mr. Mulligan has the children 14 days out of the month on his days off and testifies that he is a good father who provides for the children beyond child support.
Mr. Mulligan has been at his job for 11 years, while Ms. Willis has been working at her job for five years, with a break of one year before starting back recently. Both parties are employed and actively involved in the children's lives, with Mr. Mulligan arguing that he should not have to modify the child support amount based on his current situation of having the children 50% of the time and covering additional expenses. Nurses make good money. More so when they go into specialties. It depends on what kind of nurse she is. IE a labor delivery nurse can make 120k a year.

The lifestyle afforded by marriage is just that. Afforded by marriage. When you choose to divorce you dilute the overall funds available by the unnecessary need to now maintain 2 households instead of just 1. That's what comes with the territory of choosing to Divorce, a conscious dilution of overall funds available. I'd the maintenance of lifestyle was paramount, then choosing a scenario to have to maintain 2 separate households as opposed to just one means that you are choosing a degradation in lifestyle since all the funds needed to take care of two households is directly detrimental to a continued maintenance of lifestyle. If combined income was $7k and expenses were $5k, then there's $2k remaining for enhanced lifestyle. But if you choose to maintain a separate household that needlessly adds extra expenses over that of maintaining one household, then simple math dictates there will no longer be excess funds available for an enhanced lifestyle. Failure to do this simple math is the fault of the offending party who chooses to create a 2nd household as they are diverting lifestyle funds in what is a selfish choice. If maintenance of lifestyle is paramount, then a smarter choice is to delay divorce until the children have emancipated. Making an alternative choice is the definition of selfishness.
You can not have the same lifestyle as a divorced mom because 2 households cost way more than one household does.

Not all non custodial parents are good parents. I offered my ex buy seasonal clothes, school supplies and school lunches. He declined and said take me to court -unt. So I did and he ended up paying 2k a.month and 73% of day care and medical.. I even wrote off the support he didn't pay for 7 years. Before you even start about the amount he had to pay-- I put a good portion of that $$$ in savings - he got a car at 16, his entire college was paid for. . I never billed his father for anything. His extra curriculum came out of that $$$. His Father chose to be a donkeys behind but I never spoke ill. I gave him credit ALL the time. Son would ask for something and I gave his day credit .. school trip can we afford it- yes your Dad will help.. . Also not all Moms are evil

I don’t think she got behind at all . I think she figured out that with child support she could make her life work out just fine without having to work. Chances are that she was given the marital home which given their careers was most likely paid off or very close and if her car is paid for with no loans she has very little monthly expenses. So if the dad gave her $1500 to $2000 a month she could probably just get by .

Sadly I was wondering if that was happening here as well. All things considered, the income seemed about even and they split the custody 50/50. Dad is paying way more than his fair share with medical, sports, insurance, daycare. As a nurse with split custody, she could pick up a ton of overtime

She can if she’s a nurse. MD office pays least in nursing. She could make the same money Dad does but chooses the one she has. I’m a nurse so believe me she’s making approximately what all MD office nurses make so if she needs more money she can get it easily by getting nursing job in hospital or other hands on care role.

This woman is choosing not to make more, but complaining about the "lifestyle" of the kids. Give them to dad if you need him to provide a certain lifestyle in your home.

Check, money order, anything to keep a paper trail. Even if youre on good terms. You never know when theyll get mad, jealous, whatever and take you to the cleaners.

@@joshuas193 Yep ! ! In 37 cases this year, I have only filed one, (and she shot at him when he told her that he wasn't giving her money to go out with her boyfriend) the rest have been responses. And all of filings we have responded to, the filing women are claiming mental abuse, even though two of them are pregnant with another man's baby.
Oh you know, doing extra things like taking the kids with me to the salon to get my nails and hair done... Taking them shopping with my so I can get some cute new outfits for myself... or hiring a babysitter so I can go out with my friends..Just basic stuff..

Family court needs to be totally reformed. Custody should be awarded at 50/50 automatically, no if ands or buts. Mom is responsible for HER living expenses while dad is responsible for HIS. Any support should be based on independent NEEDS of the children such as clothes, healthcare, etc. Those expenses should be calculated at 50/50. Where there is a shortfall, support can be calculated, but NEVER to exceed 10% of a parents net income.

When I got divorced & had our children as custodial parent, I didn’t fight any requests,( such as no alimony even though I was disabled after 25yrs of working had to stop 5 years after divorce & got SSDI for me & the children ), & agreed to his lawyer’s child support agreement. My ex RAISED the amount he was giving me on his own & took care of any need I asked of him! I wish I could have continued working …

Guess what lady your lifestyle is going to change in a divorce that’s just how it goes unfortunately. To have the support he is giving is something to be thankful for. There are many many FREE things you can do and still make good memories. The kids are eating good they have clean clothes and they have medical insurance. These kids are not in a bad way they are very well taken care of and they are loved by both parents and neither are drug addicts or alcoholics. Fact that they have 50/50 I don’t see what she is bitching about. As I said there are so many ways to make good memories that are free.

Dad, it is almost insanity of you not to have a lawyer. All it will take is 1 judge to put you on statutory child support plus all of the extras you already pay, and you're stuck with it until you can prove a substantial change in income in the future. Cover yourself and get a lawyer any time you are in court. They are expensive and inconvenient, but you would be penny wise and pound foolish not to get one.

Be careful what you wish for. I think she had a lucky escape. He makes $13 per hour more and she does 40hours per week. The difference between salaries is about $2250 per month on basic.
Obviously i don't have exact figures but take off tax, followed by 25% of net for guideline support, leaves approx $460 per month child support.
Then 50% credit for shared custody leaves $230. Takes off her share for healthcare say 1/3 and its down to about $180 per month.
This is without giving him credit for the other children who live with him which could massively reduce it even more.
She might have ended up with $100 child support and risk him saying no to everything else he's currently doing such is far more than $100 per month.
