Mine is based on a 2007 2400 140PS Turbo Diesel Ford Transit. It has a proper toilet compartment cubicle at the rear unlike the VW conversions (more like the old autosleepers). Obviously it has no windows in the back, but it also has cab air con and blown air heating, so can go to Spain in the summer or winter. I'm really excited about it!!
Nice job mate. I'm just buying a 2007 conversion myself, was attracted to it because it's just me and the mutt and I can takie it most places - unlike a bigger motorhome.
I have a 2.2 TDCi - I get around 9 litres / 100km on a run if I don't go over 90kmph, a bit more on the motorway and around 11/100 around town. However it is pulling my motorhome so there is possibly more weight there than most people have!
Very well done. Well planed out, good use of space. Two questions... 1) did you put in a fridge or is there space for one? 2) what did you do for hot water? Is there a shower?
I got mine when they first came here in 2010. Insurance did not know if it was a van or a car or? I loved it and got excellent mileage. Only problem was the passenger seats, very uncomfortable. If I had made it into a camper as I wish I had that would not have been a problem.
Hi flatcap50 - I recognised the picture at the start of your video, and I've just bought my uncles campervan - I believe he bought it from you last August-ish. He didn't use it and knows next to nothing about how anything works, so I wondered if you could give me a quick lesson?! The reg is BF51 W** if that helps you remember the van :)
Conversion is great. Just wondering what type of transit van you converted? Further, it would appear your blog is down. Is your written guide still available?
if you convert a van the DVLA rule states a minimum length of 6' for the bed length, other wise they will not change the log book from van to motor home / camper! . Could you tell me the length across a transit of the bed and is there exception to this rule?? thank you
Nice camper! I’m thinking about buying a 2014 Ford Transit L2H3 aswell (which seems to be the one you’ve converted). Are you pleased with the Ford transit or would you pick another brand/model if you got to choose again?
every thing looks perfect but the car itself ? i had one of these ford transit and it made me sick of spending on it mechanicaly . they have very bad name here in australia .
I can't believe you used that cheap particle board to make your conversion. cheap. it looks good but it will not last. eventually will fall apart. sorry

What a great build-and on a proper rear wheel drive van!
Sweet looking RV. This is perhaps the best looking front end styling for the Ford Transit.
Wonderful job - that is one of the best conversions I have ever seen!
Just watched all the videos, one word, Brilliant..👍

thats brilliant mate. i wish i knew how to do this.
@Flatcap50 that's awesome. I wonder why it took so long to bring this over the the USA? our work vans averages 14-19 MPG highway with the V6 and V8.
