The bull sharks do not come from out of nowhere - they are always around following boats, picking up scraps of fish from anglers etc. This is the reality in every marina. So this is no special situation and the divers know this very well...

Bull sharks are very dangerous, as they attack usually not for food, but territory, plus they are bad tempered as they have the highest testosterone level of any shark. Tigers are usually looking for food, great whites usually mistaken identity or is an explorative bite, bull sharks basically are like the nutter in the pub, they are moody and account for the majority of shark attacks I believe. I don’t think a single fish would cause an issue, the shark simply honed in on the splashing, thing that the fish was in its death throws, which is standard behaviour, however you shouldn’t really take the risk and feed any wild animal.

The same applies to the oceanic whitetip to a lesser extent since food sources in the desert-like, open ocean environment are rather scarce. Unlike white sharks, they do not rely on ambush tactics but instead double down on their confrontational hunting strategies. There are a couple of youtube clips of oceanic whitetips deploying treacherous hyena like behavior by attacking scuba divers after milling about in a disinterested manner.

Divers are in that water all the time. Bottom cleaning boats, servicing props, other municipal-related work. These sharks tend to take up residence in other areas of the harbor when they are fed, and bulls are territorial and not easily intimidated, so they are very hard to remove from the harbor. It's a problem.

I'm a 5th gen. Key West Conch those Bull sharks, Tiger sharks, Hammerheads, Black Tips and Lemon Sharks have ALWAYS BEEN THERE! So for all you guys making Negative comments and giving this boats Professional crew a hard time calling them names because "They are attracting them there and it's dangerous" have no idea of what your talking about As kids we'd catch and release them off the dock along with 200 pound Tarpon and Jew Fish. We had to use my Grandpa's friend truck to get one of the Jew fish out he was so big. We kept him and fed all our friends. Giant Schools of Tarpon were rolling everywhere in the harbor. There used to be a lot more there before there was so much boat traffic. I used to clean the widows under the Glass Bottom boat there and never once was I ever bothered by any of them. Even when I cleaned them the windows at night. It was easier to see where the algae was on the glass at night if you left the lights on in the boat. The shallow water is where the bait is where there is bait fish there are fish that eat them. I Also ran and owned Charter Sportfishing boats here for well over 20 years and worked Dive boats and commercial fishing before that and all of my biggest sharks have came from less than 4 feet of water. We used to release Sawfish just across the harbor too. So Please stop giving these guys a hard time saying they are making it dangerous and unsafe for others by feeding them when you obviously don't know what your talking about. Your 10,0000 times more likely to die from a bee sting than a Shark Attack. Stop believing everything you see in movies. lol. People should be thanking this boats crew for them taking their time to show you something that most people who don't live here won't ever get to see up close and FOR FREE!! They still have hours of work to due cleaning and washing the boat, putting the unused bait away and putting the equipment away yet. It's still a lot of hard work even if it's something you LOVE to do. Pretty Work boys.

I'm not saying you should swim with them but they aren't just waiting for tourist to hit the water either. Look up the numbers and you will quickly see shark attacks are way less numerus than people being killed by Bees or even Pit Bulls. All you are trying to do is scare people which causes people to kill Bull sharks for no reason. We literally have thousands of people swimming and snorkeling in the waters around our island and the reef daily yet not one Bull shark death here. Most people end up being bit by Nurse sharks because they thing they are harmless and grab them by the tail and just like going up to a dog you don't know on the street and grab its tail its going to turn around and bite you. We do see many dumb tourist at the local E.R. bitten by nurse sharks cause they screwed with them. They may not kill you but can take a nice big chunk out of your are cause not only does it bite it rolls which rips the skin off. Hell you average 5 foot shark has a bite pressure of over 10,000 lb.s per square inch. Meaning he doesn't really need big teeth to due a lot of damage to the foolish.

Hey guys, sharks dont like us. They dont want to eat us either. Shark accidents are rare and even in crowded areas it almost never happens. We are not their food source. We don't have the fat content they look for. We are gross. Accidents almost always happen from human error. Our floating devices make us look an awful lot like turtles and seals from below. Sharks are the victims. Studying marine biologist here so no, not an "animal activist". Any marine biologist would tell you that. Sharks are the victims. Hunted to near extinction in some cases over unjust fear.

@@wintersnoob you don't pet any wild animals. They are indeed the victims when 80-99% of their population depending on the species have gone extinct since a scary books and movie came out perpetuating lies about them causing literal "monster hunts" rewarding the biggest kills and most kills. They are no more vicious than a house cat. They are curious and intelligent animals who want nothing to do with us. The world's strongest man can be the victim of assault, too. Just because he's big and strong doesn't negate that fact.

Well I have bad news then lol, they don’t stick to oceans. I’ve seen them in rivers in Alabama near the coast. I used to work on a commercial fishing boat and we’d anchor about a mile from the mouth of mobile bay by Dauphin island to clean our catch. It was cool to see those things surfing over breakers, basically sitting there watching people in the water. They can vicious but I tend to think it’s nearly always mistaken identity due to fishing. I’ve seen massive Sharks peaceful swimming along swimmers and nothing bad ever happened. But I’ve also seen someone disappear into a pool of red from falling off of a shrimp boat during pushing trash from the deck after pulling nets. It’s literally miles of a feeding frenzy behind and around the boats consisting of numerous shark species intertwined chomping at anything and everything. Seeing that feeding frenzy was so cool but when the deck hand fell in that was not a good sight. It was horrifying. Still though if you’re a fisherman, follow a shrimp boat in the pre Dawn hours offshore, when you see them pull the nets and start to push the trash, shine your lights to the water and get your cameras ready for one hell of a show
