- A fine example of a mid '50s Strat that has quickly become a shop favorite! The neck has a comfortable V shape that is strong at the first fret and tappers towards the body. The original pickups are nicely balanced with a great fat classic strat tone.
cartervintage....
Among the best guitar tones ever. It's frustrating how amazing and specifically unique '50s Strats sound. Fullness and quack all in one. Also, JD is a living legend.
Check out Klein's '56 set ... Oh my ...
worst pickups in the world
@@massimofamularo1976 lol???????????????????????????????????????????????????
This guy just slays everyone, in my opinion. Mixes of Jimmy Vaughn Freddie King, and his own thing. Seriously a great, all time great player
this guy...absolutely destroyed it in front of 30 in a barleys in knoxville tenn. one of the best shows ive ever seen!..every time he picks up a guitar..its pure passion and heart! also one of the nicest people youll meet.
Glad he still has a good set of ears. After 35 years of bands and 57 total, they don't work so good ...
JD is the TRUTH! Crazy feel, crazy licks, crazy attitude. So rad!
JD Simo, one of the guitar player that I like the most ! Nice strat !
He really is the master of all styles.
i love this guy, his right hand technique is beautiful, his 51 nocaster vid is one of the best guitar vids ive ever seen
Faaaaantastic played from one of the top Guitarists ever!
And a great sound with a real beauty!
Love JD on a Strat!
JD got such inspirational playing!
That's the best strat sound I've ever heard and I mean that
Always a pleasure to hear JD at Carter. Thank you!
Looks like jake and elwood are getting the band back together
This guy brings it, every time, time again.
JD perfectly demonstrates what a 50’s strat sounds like in all 3 positions! As always glorious playing!
I really dig this guy and have since the first lick I heard him play. He doesn't bring a lot of originality to the table but he does bring a truck load of soul and style and conviction. There are far too many guitar players out there now who can't do ANY of that. No style, no conviction and no soul just the licks, learned by rote and cranked out with predictable mediocrity. This guy GETS IT. You can't just ape the licks you have listen to and digest the music and get it inside you. It's not so much about copying the notes as it is understanding the groove behind them and recognizing the chords from which they spring.
Wow! JD Simo can swing the Strat too!nice work JD
great guitar.. brilliantly played.
Just when u wanted to listen to him play the les Paul all day, out comes the Fender and,.. to hell with the Gibson!!!
That is just soo perfect. Snappy with such clarity. So much feel and Stratocaster quack. Love an amazing clean Stratocaster tone.
Awesome tone and playing.
Amazing how you can really hear every little nuance, like where he picks the strings etc etc
Sounds sooo good. Reminds me of Clapton here and there. Wow
wow....Amazing sound
Jd. U the man ... bluesman...
love his style of playing!
Best electric blues guitar player in my opinion long live the simo experience lol
JD looks hammered.
Man I'd see this guy play any day.
Outstanding playing as always! I really liked the tune that started around the 3:00 mark!
That was outrageous. Crazy sense of timing.
Love it ! JD is the man
Stopped by the music store to play some guitar right before the wedding to realise some tension.
This is the most Fender sound i've ever heard
Faaaantastic played from a really Great.
Awesome, beautifull sounding, wonderfull Strat.
Had been missing you here Mr Simo
Still missing Sir Joey Landreth
My Favorite is still 1957 Strats with Full V necks..
Oh geez, you picked a good one to test those beauties ! Grats
Yes! I know I’ve said it before but you guys are my favorite. Best guitar channel ever.
Awesome playing, awesome time and very quacky on that amp.
Thats some low down ass fire right there sun!!!
Lot's of Jimmie and Stevie Vaughan licks! Well Done.
Notch that baby (tough to do on the fly!)!! My favorite Klein set is his '56s! This just reinforces that lust ...
This dude's playing is out of this planet, maybe even solar system, don't know..
THE BEST.
Wow!
Who knew Spaulding from Caddyshack could play like THAT!...just kidding, I love JD!
Great playing! Great feel! Great tone!
Nice Shop!!! wish this was in my town.
Right on.
JD is a genius!
e. tienne
Not!
Get it right... he's playing in a style that was created before he was born.
Words have real meaning.
ohhh ! thank you sir, please write me a dissertation on what is a genius ! Like Mozart didn't invent the symphony so he is not a genius, and like, your own pseudo was invented before... Don't worry, I won't read it, I have better things to do, like listening to JD's music !
e. tienne
You will read whatever I write because I am a Genius for having logic.
I want you to feel better...this Guy here is the Best Musician of all time.
He's better than the Progenitor's of Blues Guitar! Why? because they are not living...they failed by dying... otherwise they might get the credit.
Excellent playing, BTW. Great control and tone.
Very Jimmy Vaughan
Holy smoke!!
Great sounding strat, nice and thuddy
Very power guitar..
Sounds pretty good !
Tobias Hoffman and Bill Frisell, as good as it gets👌🏼
superb!
My new fav guitar channel) all cool cats
Love those reverse rakes
Playing that straight up no...effects just raw....not easy..
Man! Now I'm hungry.....
Cool...
John Goodman’s son really knows how to play guitar!.
Someone has been studying their Jimmie Vaughan! Sounds great
I keep it as Strato sound reference
Excuse me Sir, have you heard the Word? The holy word of badass fuckin’ Strat soul? Buckle up and get ready to get embalmed....
What amp is that? I can’t really see it. Deluxe Reverb? Vintage? Reissue?

Buddy Holly, baby!!!
That neck pu 🙌🏻
Johnny Guitar Watson vibes
Sure has that SRV tone!
JD's playing is exceptional as ever - but he really doesn't look well. I hope there's no health issues dogging him, because whenever a new video shows up featuring JD he looks a little more the worse for wear.
This comment isn't at all intended to be insulting, but arises from genuine concern. Hope he's OK...
hes fine, haha
i thought the same!...i used to love his friendly vlogs chatting to fellow guitarists and talking about guitars, but it seemed to stop abruptly and nothing was happening for ages, so this might be his comeback!...we Love your playing JD, be well! 👍🏻🎼🎸
I read that he got married a while back.....that’s probably the reason. 😀
well, SIMO toured like basically a year straight, 215 shows in 2016, 2015 they toured nearly the same, so thats probably why he stopped making the vintage blog videos
He doesn't look healthy.
Music isn't about what you wear, quit hating!
why dont you play my 2007 squire strat?? it sounds the same
Taking a dump while playing a Strat. Now that's what I call multi-tasking.
By the looks of it he's experiencing one of those dumps that feels like someone is putting out a cigar in his butt hole.
Can I have it
How could anyone ever down thumb this?
56? it should be made of swamp ash in theory
Why he doesnt look good, , because he put on few pounds, big deal...he looks and plays like a real blues man!
can anyone read the [price tag
Is this original 56
The playing is so tasteful, but let’s be honest this channel has featured so many better sounding strats. They can’t all be hits.
Turn on the air conditioning! Poor man!
C_____ is one helluva drug.
S R V
What's the price tag on that? I'm gonna guess. Y'all don't jump on me now because I ain't looked up nowhere. $7800? What do y'all think? Watch it be like a 5-figure lady. Reckon I wouldn't be surprised. Going to look it up now.
Uhhh, let me just say, "whoa daddy." Way off is an understatement. That's a pricey marriage. But she sure talk sweet don't she now?
I guess that's what they call "face value"
not magic not jimmy.............
I love JD'S playing and band but he needs to lose the suit and some weight. It doesn't look good on him.
stratmagic Why? Because it doesn't suit your narrow view of what a guitar player should look like? Jackass....
He looks and sounds fantastic to me. I really feel that he's feeling it. It's simply spectacular, and I'm not a blues guy.
No it is because he used to be much thinner and looked healthier and the suit thing seems contrived to me considering what he was wearing for most of his career. Why resort to name calling? I was only voicing my opinion and it seems that 7 people agree with me. I started off by saying how much I love his playing and his band. You ended your comment by calling me a "jackass". I think you should look in the mirror.
Well, you are defending your unsolicited criticism of JD's appearance as well as your instructing him how to dress and to get some exercise. Would you like JD to ask the internet what to eat and wear every morning? Does JD have any contributing factors/health issues that would affect his weight? We don't know because it's none of our business. Your comments are equally rude and deserving of some serious mirror time. Jackass is crude and dismissive, but also apt.
Considering this is the type of guitar that only lawyers will buy, his attire is more than appropriate.
Can a guitar sound better than that?
just can't get into this guy maybe he'll grow on me like Bonamassa had to but right now I just find him too stiff ....
Overrated playing, overrated guitar. Ridiculous amp. :((
get out if you don't like it.
He is trying to be black but I can tell he is fake
Hey there is a homeless guy with a suit from Goodwill that has broken into your store.
1RIB100 home is where the heart is and he has heart for days smart ass , listen to the beautiful tones and stuff the comedy routine
