Really dig this approach in the sense that it forces the mixer to really think through each EQ move that's being made and why that move is being made. I can imagine taking this approach for a while with mixes would improve peoples mixing bigtime for when they decide to remove that one 3-band EQ limitation later on down the track. Such awesome content on this channel! Killer track also 🔥..I could probably get away with this..I usually only use 3 bands of eq on my guitars any way because the majority of my IR's are already pretty awesome I just notch out harsh frequencies etc.

Wait you're supposed to use more than one EQ?
How should multiple EQs help you understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.
There's EQs you use for tone shaping which make broad moves, sometimes add their own tasteful coloration of the sound etc.
And then you got stuff like fabfilter pro q which you can use surgically to remove problematic frequencies, but also for cleaner broad boosts.
This is a very basic explanation I think.
Don't be worried though, basically you use 2 EQs instead of one, fabfilter and some fancy stuff of your choice for toneshaping (like the SSL console imitations for example)

Good question … the far more better question is … can I mix a full metal song with just 1 IQ ?
In the early days, engineers and hardware designers didn't think you would ever need more than 2-3 bands since most of the tone shaping is done in the recording phase (i.e mic choice, mic placement, instrument choice etc). Equalization was only meant for use in the vinyl mastering process. Getting it right at the source is still a very good philosophy to have, even today with all of the crazy mixing tools we have. Some famous mixing engineer (can't remember who) said that 90% of the sound should be decided at the production and recording stage, 9% in the mixing stage, and the final 1% in the mastering stage. So the sound of a song should already be 90% there when a mixing engineer takes over.
