It is a masterpiece...pls get the live mtv basement version...liv3 and direct and mix master Mike with 1, count them, 1 vinyl that he scratches perfectly to make the beats... don't miss out
This is from 1998. Still has some of the classic Beastie Boys flow but the beat is disgusting (good.) They filmed this in Japan, guerilla style. Just showed up looking crazy in a subway station while people were on their way to work and started filming. Another dope, comedic element that makes them extra hilarious. Video was meant to be a homage to old school Japanese Kaiju films like Godzilla.
They also green screened moments. They’re on the subway platform when he says, “when it comes to envy, y’all is green” and they remove the background for a split second. They did a great job shooting and editing this video.
Anyone that can get their hands on the Beastie Boys Criterion Collection DVD box set, can access ALL the camera angles and shots they had for this video and you can switch between shots and styles as the song keeps playing.
3 MC’s and 1 DJ is unbelievable because it was shot live in one take with nothing more than a single record and turn table to create the beat. Watch that next.
Mixmaster Mike is in his own league. Experiencing them live was a blessing. Way over an hour of performing all the songs, then after 3 MCs and one Dj they left the stage and Mixmaster Mike did his thing for 20 minutes alone. Then they rolled back in with instruments in their hands playing all the olschool hardcore stuff, finishing off with Sabotage.
Fun fact, this song was for all the haters that said they were washed up, havent made a album for 4 years and they came back w this! The lyrical flow is🔥
Oooh I can’t wait for this one. You should do Paul Revere, Shake Your Rump, Get it Together, Check it Out, Sureshot, So Whatcha Want. Eh. Just do their entire catalog.
“Shake your rump”, “3 MC’s and 1 DJ”, “Root Down” and “The New Style” are all phenomenal. There are many other bangers these guys have too. Nobody wi hate on you for diving into this rabbit hole, lol. 👍🔥
Paul Revere has one of the sickest beats ever recorded. There is a reason their debut album, License to Ill sold > 10 million albums. Keep in mind this was way before the Internet and you had to go to an actual store to buy an album. And when MCA died , this album hit #1 on the download charts.

Wait until you hear So What'cha Want. Intergalactic came out in the late 90s. The video is meant to look cheesy on purpose. They're spoofing old Japanese sci-fi like Ultraman and Godzilla.
The look on your face when that beat drops and you spend the next 15 seconds realizing that you're in for the classic ride of your life!!! You go from total focus to pure joy! Priceless!
Growing up on Rock Music, The Beasties were a breath of fresh air I needed to hear in the 90s to get through that decade. I’m 60 now, and seeing Molly Boy’s reaction is like listening to the Beasties again, for the first time. Thanks Bro!
One point overlooked by BB fans is how they put as much effort into making cinematic short films. This is one if a few examples including "Sabotage", "Sure Shot", and at least 4-5 others. One that isn't is "Pass the Mic" and I think it's a good way to get to know who's who without disguises or effects.

I will never forget the first time I heard this song. Recorded on tape, off the radio. Played over and over and over. I was high as a kite. lol. Since that day, this has been and will forever be, my favorite BB song. Been a BB fan since 86.
This song is from 1998 but they always kept the 80s style of hip hop through out their career. Other Beastie Boys songs to hear: Whatcha Want, Shake Your Rump, Sure Shot, Paul Revere, 3 MCs and 1 DJ and so many others. You like Hip Hop so you'll like almost everything they made.
I was a metalhead when Beasties hit the scene, and they rocked. Everybody loves them, so many good memories tied to them. Now I don't pigeonhole myself that way, I like what I like.

This is mid 90's hip hop. This was their showing of how relevant they were in the scene. This song was huge. And legitimately bumped hard on a good home and car stereo system.
You have to understand what a unique group the Beastie Boys are. A collection of dudes with a very wide taste in music, from classic rock and blues to metal and punk to old school hip hop. When they first started performing together they were basically a straight up punk band, they even played gigs at CGBGs in New York, a legendary punk band scene. But they started messing around with hip-hop elements just for fun in the studio, recorded and published some of it, and it took off with No Sleep Till Brooklyn, and the rest is history, they became legends in the hip-hop scene mixing their style with a heavy dose of punk attitude. Some other tracks to check out: So Whatcha Want, Sure Shot, 3 DJs and 1 MC, and Brass Monkey. Intergalactic and Sabotage absolutely rocketed the Beasties into the big time, those were massive radio hits.
Most metalheads like The Beastie Boys. They have an instrumental type album called In Sounds From Way Out. They play all the instruments. Awesome album!
The line "Beastie Boys known to let the beat... mmmDROP" is a sampling from their earlier song "The New Style." Check that early 80's banger out! You won't believe it!
Beastie Boys have such a fascinating history. They were actually one of the foundational bands in the NYC hardcore punk scene in the early 80s. They got into the extremely early hip-hop scene and started playing more hip-hop oriented music as early as 1983 and was on tours with Run-DMC and LL Cool J by 1985. In the early 90s they started re-incorporating the punk instrumentation from their early days back into their sound, which is where you get songs like "Sabotage." So by the time Hello Nasty came out (the album "Intergalactic" is from), it was seen as sort of a return to the more pure hip-hop sound of the mid to late 80s.
I've heard this a hundred times and I got goose bumps for you.I'm telling ya , you need to do a full album reaction to "Paul's Boutique". One of the greatest hip hop albums ever. Flawless.
One that will never be replicated because the Beasties incorporated SO many samples that the courts got involved and changed the rules and fee's! More samples on that album than any other
When this song originally came out it took off, it didn't matter what genre people normally listened to, 'Intergalactic' breached all barriers and still does to this day. This song/music/lyrics was so brilliant and extremely entertaining.

Gratitude - Sure Shot - 3 MCs and 1 DJ - Too many rappers (with NAS) - Shake your rump - So Whatcha want - Sabrosa - ... And I could go on and on and on and on and on...
The Beasties were definitely one of the funnest highlights of growing up in the 80s & 90s. People will eat up any reaction you do to them. If you do a roots hip-hop channel, that would be 🔥🔥🔥

This video won the 1999 Grammy for best performance by a Rap duet or group. They Beasties also won the Grammy for Best Alternative Album for ‘Hello Nasty’ the same year. The video also won the 1999 award for best Hip Hop video from MTV (when that meant something in music)
I was in high school when "You've got a right to party" came out. I'm 58 and my playlist is filled with these guys. If I would suggest next I'd say check out 3 MC's and 1 DJ, then move on to Paul's Boutique. Maybe try Shake Your Rump first off that album. These guys are hip hop history.

Intergalactic was a much later release than their OG stuffs. I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song… it always gets me moving. This is the first video of yours I’ve seen. Glad to see such an appreciative reaction to this call back to my high school days.
Like I said in the other chat, this song brings me back to the day when me and my girls were on every guest list for the hottest clubs in Hollywood. Dancing to this song until we were drenched in sweat. Crazy time of my life. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you think. ❤
Beastie Boys “So Whatcha want” is the obvious choice for the next one
It's got to be that era at least.
I was thinking 3 MCs, actually…
Agreed
Yes!
I second this. They was illin. Lol
The Beastie Boys get respect across the board. Fans of metal, punk, classic rock...doesn't matter. The Beasties were loved by us all.
This
Even some hip hop

Love good music..no matter where it comes from.

Forever a B.E.A.S.T.I.E!

Rest in Peace John Berry and Adam Yauch (MCA).

You will definitely make it to 100K. ❤
Watcha Want is 🔥
Intergalactic was a much later release than their OG stuffs.
