Neat little watch. Reminds me of the pebble watches, which imo are still the best smartwatches around, but fitbit bought them and shut them down. The e-ink screen gave it week-long battery life and it did all the basic smartwatch fucntions well without being bloated and unnecessary like apple and samsungs offerings.
I don't have one of these, but a few other friends have one and yeah it seems like the RTC gains anywhere between 2 and 20 minutes a day, which is worse that 1980's knockoff "CAS10" territory. All the same, I want one in brass.
Oh, you got one where all the buttons work and the timer actually runs well. Mine certainly didn't, nor did they reply to my emails and looking on Reddit those seem to be common issues. 100% would not recommend this device.
I can get like a day and a half out of mine, maybe two. I'd like a week or more but I can't really complain about a day when it charges reasonably quick. I imagine using wifi or bluetooth will significantly diminish that though.
@@Stintendo can get the aluminum shell still. I put links in the description. There are also several other casing designs, all open source hosted on github.
Hey makho! I saw you have a replacement GBA PCB and in this video a the pocket PCB. Do you know if there's a way to source a replacement Color PCB? I have a board that was killed by battery acid that could definitely be brought back to life with a new PCB
@@makho Yea, i seriously dig it too. It just caught my attention in the video and it was something that's been on my mind for a while. Didn't mean to deter from the subject matter, just thought you might know.
@@billm970 Having to charge it daily (iirc it was like 30 hour battery life so not quite enough for two straight days) means I have to take it off for a couple hours at a time. One day I just didn't put it back on and didn't look back. I want it to do more than it does but I didn't have the time or inclination to write that software myself and at the time, there was basically no community software available for these things. Not a deal breaker but things I already have already did what this thing aims to do but better. I already have a watch to tell the date and time (and it's an automatic mechanical so I don't need to charge it or worry about batteries). I already have a phone to tell me the weather. I don't have a pedometer but I'm also not really interested. I'm sure my phone tracks my steps anyway. It's a clunky and incomplete implementation, yes, but mostly it just wasn't the product I wanted. I got excited by the open source nature and that distracted me from the fact that it's something I'm not normally into. I still think it's hella neat and I don't regret buying it. I just don't really know what to do with it. Also I kept accidentally hitting it on door frames and such.
This is my favorite game boy that you've done so far

Battery life is rough, at least on mine.

@@makho I do enjoy it though. I wish I had gotten the aluminum shell. That plastic one was exploding on me and I ended up gluing it.

Love Mechanical watches. My dad has a Breitling Cosmonaute that I'm gonna steal from him one day lol.
Bought my two kits Form Mouser. But the kits didnt include the screen protector.....
That's a bummer. I wonder if mine was just a pre-order bonus then.
They have round ones to?

this is a video about a watch

Awesome video!
Any update on your watchy?
I stopped using it pretty quickly tbh
Just wondering why? The battery life or other issues?

I wear it round my neck on a lanyard. The battery life is actually very good with the original "7SEG" face - probably a week or so
makho, did you get my comment on the DMG OSD / "RIPS v4" video...?
probably
