"Drop a sweet comment for your girl".. watching the ducks run by as mom was unwrapping the cakes was the sweetest thing to me.. Like two kids playing chase.
In Barbados we call the one you made the cakes with Buffets. Similar to Plantain but shorter and thicker and they must be cooked. We make a sweet using sweet potato, coconut, pumpkin, and corn flour . We singe the banana leaf and steam the mixture in it in the same way. We call it Conkie in Jamaica the call it Blue Drawers. It's one of our traditional sweet treats.

I am from Kerala. We have different types of banana plants. In our language it is called pazham (banana). We cook green banana as a vegetable and ripen one we eat as a fruit. From ripen banana we use to make sweet dishes also. I like your simple way of life and very healthy food also.
I am a Bengali from Kolkata, India. We call this Kola(banana). Your recipe looks delicious. You are really sweet to share your ways of lives so beautifully 😊
In Jamaica we make something similar called DUCKUNU or DUCKUNOO ...or BLUE DRAWS (different name same thing ).. .. we use sweet potatoes and raisins sugar .. or cornmeal coconut milk sugar so it’s more like a dessert .. we tie up the leaves with the stings that you get from the bark of the banana tree so it doesn’t pop..👍🏽👍🏽

Plantain is what we call it in Trinidad and Tobago🇹🇹 and I just love your dishes, and every time I see a new one, you know I have to try it, thank you so much Miss Dosha and I do hope you had a wonderful Valentines Day❤️🌷
This cake is familiar to many people of North -East India .N E India is full of banana trres , and snacks like this is made by the village people. In Assam , the village people call it 'kal -pitha' - (kal means banana and pitha means cake ) .
For plant hygiene and to help prevent the spread of leaf fungal diseases the old leaves should be cut off from the banana plants. Here we use a long pole with a curved blade on the end which we call a de-leafing pole. We only leave the healthy leaves on the plant. When there is a bunch of bananas there must be at least 1 leaf for every hand on the bunch of bananas for the bunch to grow to its potential.
Wow you guys have plantain too (mkono wa tembo) yummy

But don’t they use sweet potato to make the blue draws in Jamaica. I know the process is the same with wrapping it with banana leaves and boiling it.
