Hi Paul, I'm a new subscriber and I'm blown over by your passion for home playing. I too have played for about 35 years, (almost exclusively acoustic though) and in bands, recorded albums etc. But now I'm a home player and I love it. I'm just starting to embrace playing electric and you are a massive source of inspiration. Because of playing acoustic for so long I'm approaching the electric with a delicate touch and craving a simple tone and you are hitting the nail on the head so thank you so much for your videos. Your passion and personality shine through the screen and you are a pleasure to watch and listen to. Keep up the good work Paul and I'll keep watching. Merry Christmas mate.
Well thank you Steve! What a lovely comment. I’m delighted you like my approach. Well I wish you many happy hours with your home playing. It’s amazing how little you need to get things recorded for RUclips (should you decide to do that). I don’t even have a computer or any interfaces - I just record straight into my iPhone. Anyway, happy noodling 🍻
Exquisite! The Intro felt like it was almost a freshly strung with Savarez's beautiful Classical Guitar (like my 1978 K. Yairi) altho the piece you chose certainly leant in that direction, and then the revelation that it's hollow! Wow. What a special instrument - right up my street, Paul - cool. Will look into the KL Guitars now . . . thanks! And Happy New Year!
Across the superhighway abyss - the tone comes in as crystalline, bright and percussive w/o any icepick. I'm aways looking for darker tones with more harmonic rub... but I like hearing other players with this type of tone - A refined tone, and achieving it is an accomplishment! Cool cool guitar and as always, very musical playing.
iPad connected to the Positive Grid Spark Mini - your playing sounds WONDERFUL! You’re inspiring! Thank you. Karl Longbottom is an amazing artist. Wow. Great analogy with the Bentley reference. 😊 That is a beautiful guitar. Delightful sounds! Oh my, I’m mesmerized by the sound of this guitar.
Happy Christmas, Paul. Sounds lovely. Nice and sparkly, but with a very musical tone. This piece has an interesting classical guitar feel to a lot of it. Bice
The hollow body reminds me of the 90s Guild Songbird, but that is a Les Paul style body. Certainly has an interesting sound. You definitely seem to be right at home playing them both, so obviously a very familiar feel. HAPPY NEW YEAR!🎉🥳🍻🤙
A bit of Rach’s Prelude in C# minor there Paul! I’m got the sheet music on the piano at the moment…got it down until it speeds up. Such lovely music but a right bastard to play 😂
sounds like a great idea, anymore info on construction ? just wondering if it's split then chambered or just hollowed out where accessible. would have liked to hear some MK sounds through it though 😁😁 cheers pal, huv a guid new year
Happy Hogmanay Charlie. Yes, I’m not too clear on the exact construction…. Karl tried to explain and I got lost a bit 🤣. But yeah, I should have done a bit of Sultans!
Well, I don't even like Strats or guitars of it's ilk (though I do have a fondness for the more feminine curves of the Watkins Rapier, one of which I own), but when I viewed the thumbnail and heard Rachmaninov's Prelude in C# minor (in Em!) I had to watch the video! What lovely playing, and arrangement. I'm trying to work out what you're doing on that tremolo arm bendy chord thing. That sounded gorgeous.
... Can I ask what your reverb setting is here? Is it Hall, Spring or Plate? I don't have much experience with pedals and amps (yet) so any simple tips on reverb and/or delay settings would be fabulous.
Yes, my Reverb is always courtesy of my Strymon Flint pedal. And it’s always the Spring setting. I don’t have a Delay pedal as I’m not really a fan of delay (just a personal thing). Hope that helps 😊
@@paulstaffordcook8799 Cheers for the info. I'm currently using the TC Electronic Hall of Fame on Plate setting but will try the spring and see how it sounds. I'm using an Epiphone Les Paul with a low gain overdrive just to sweeten it when i dig in with a bit of reverb and a little practice amp. I've had the guitar for a few years and was thinking of getting another (maybe a tele and also upgrade the pick ups in the epiphone), but I've literally got the Katana Air in the last few weeks and I've already fallen in love with the journey. I love the amount of tone you can get from the smallest touch on an electric vs acoustic, it's such a tactile experience.
I can relate to what you’re saying. Whilst acoustic guitar is great, I just love the world of colour that electric guitars bring, along with amps and pedals etc. 🍻
Awesome video have a great weekend Paul also happy first week of winter and I will quit RUclips in 2025 happy holiday season from Canada ❤😊1🏴🎸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇦🎄🌲🎂
Many many thanks for all your videos this year. The amount of prep and creativity that go into each one is hugely appreciated. Have a wonderful 2025
What a nice comment, thank you Jerome! I hope 2025 brings great things to you and yours in 2025 🍻

Sounds awesome, beautiful playing
Thank you Mrlepotts 👍
Great guitar sound and playing. Particularly impressed by the neck pickup sound

Thanks Duane, 👍
Thanks so much Paul 🙏. A fantastic lesson as always 🔥🔥
It’s been a very enjoyable experience Karl 👍
What a beauty Strat 🎸❤
And feather light too! Super comfy to hold. 🍻
The fret board is beautifully dark in color. It sounds so defining on each note. Thank you Paul for the awesome lesson. Love you all Bill.
Thank you Bill, glad you liked the guitar 🍻
Reminds me of the 1960 strat I used to play, wish I hadn't sold it

Ah, thank you Luis! Well Happy New Year Luis. I hope 2025 brings some wonderful things for you and yours my friend. 🍻
Hollow! I was wondering why it sounded so resonant in the first few seconds, has that nice acoustic quality to it. Nice one Paul!😀
Glad you liked it Glen! And it’s feather light too! 🍻

Delighted you liked it mjkelly 🍻
Lovely video and beautiful tones there Paul 😎👍
Thanks Kev! I’ve got two more of Karl’s guitars left to review, so it continues to be a very pleasant few weeks 😊🍻
C'è sempre un sapore diverso che mi piace. Buone feste dall'Italia!
Thank you! And greetings to you in Italy 🤘🍻
Thank you Paul, brilliant as always. Hope you had a lovely Christmas Day with your family. Best wishes as always from Glasgow ❤️🎸🍷
Happy Holidays Frank, cheers for watching 🍻
Happy Christmas, Paul. Sounds lovely. Nice and sparkly, but with a very musical tone. This piece has an interesting classical guitar feel to a lot of it. Bice
Thanks Burtnekkid 👍. Yes, it’s heavily based around a piece by Rachmaninoff.
How lovely, same strat, played by two of my favorite RUclipsrs. And tomorrow is Dave's annual guitar collection vid. Paul ought to do 'em, too.
Thanks John. Mind you, if I did a guitar collection video it wouldn’t take very long 🤣
@@paulstaffordcook8799 Maybe so, but I'd really enjoy it. You've some lovely players.
Gorgeous Tones Cheers AAA
Thanks 🍻
Loving the vibes bro, hollow strat waw.
Cheers for watching 🍻
Nice one Paul. Seasons greetings. Have a good one.
Thanks Riffcodger 🍻

Happy New Year GW. Hope 2025 brings good health 🍻
very beautiful man.
Thank you Brent 🍻

Well spotted Jeremy 🍻
Soupa kewl...... Seriously though...Outstanding all the way around. Your playing included of course.
Thank you Sir, glad you enjoyed it 🍻

Well thanks man 🍻
Sweet. So much to challenge me there. Should I thank you or just go back to bed!
Well I’ll take the thanks…. Now go back to bed 🤣
Nice playin there Paul…
Thanks Stereointellect 🍻
Sounds great, I might warm back to Strats soon haha. I think the Oswald beats it in the looks department - but sound wise its very close!
Glad you liked it Paul. 🍻

Well I’m delighted you watched the vid! And yes, that wee tremolo thing is a technique I stole from my hero Tobias Hoffmann 😊
@@paulstaffordcook8799 I posted as I was watching the video and later saw your explanation of the tremolo thing, and I still can't do it! 😄
