Harris, I'm so glad I found this channel. First I want to commend you on conceiving of the "stream doctor" theme in the first place. It's a channel for which there is very obviously an insane amount of demand, and you're uniquely situated to be the authority on all the topics you cover based on your background in YT and on Twitch (and the success you're having is a testament to this fact). The breadth of knowledge you have on equipment related to streaming and video recording can't be understated, and shines through regardless of whether or not you've explicitly stated such. It is *so* obvious that you know what you're talking about, and it makes me (and others, I'm sure) supremely confident in taking your opinion seriously.
But more importantly, you take all of this technical knowledge and distill it down into practical, actionable advice. Your explication of whether or not it's worth getting some piece of gear based on price, user experience, what your application of it would be, etc. is incalculably valuable. For example, your explanation of which camera to get for Twitch streaming, and how you very may well be hitting a point of diminishing returns if you go the DSLR route is the type of advice that comes from a place of technical and experiential knowledge that few others are in a position to give.
The topics you cover are far-ranging and disparate, but at the same time are *always* relevant to the goal of the channel, which is to optimize *every* facet of your viewers' budding stream. From what kind of mic to buy to how to use platforms *outside* of Twitch to pave the way for more growth, you manage to cover every possible area of streaming without ever stepping outside of what is relevant. And as an aside, your advice on things beyond 'which piece of gear is best' is spot-on as well. You're not merely some tech-review channel; while you're fully capable in this area, you extend yourself beyond those bounds seamlessly and to great effect.
I could go on, but I just wanted to take some time to let you know, publically, how valuable I've found this channel, and how much it's helped me. On top of all of the things I've mentioned, you've got an air of authenticity that keeps the viewing experience 'human.' You're just a cool dude, and it really comes through. Thank you so much, and I am thrilled at your continued success. I'm sure you will continue to grow, and I'll be here cheering you on!
P.S. One thing I've started doing is little giveaways on stream to draw traffic to my channel. I play CoD, and I've been giving away 10 bucks worth of CoD points every weekend. It seems like a really cheap and fun way to get some more eyeballs, and I'm curious what your thoughts on this idea are.
    Have a great day bro!
    Casey (AKA Razinon)

I was set the order the LIFX but was still a little torn between that and the cheap flood lights. I love the look and options with the LIFX but really like the price of the floods. My wife intervened. As a streamer that makes very little money off of this, which I'm sure a lot of you reading this are the same, she asked me what the return on investment is on both of them. I said, "well, right now, roughly zero for each one" lol I just ordered two the flood lights from the links in the description. Hopefully once some more money starts coming in an upgrade will be done but I thought it was a brilliant question that was asked and wanted to share!

Your content is so awesome, pure quality! I even downloaded the Twitch overlay pack you provided for free and I'm currently using it. I'll tell people where it's from, thank you man! I'm looking forward to seeing you live on Twitch. Time zones are different though.I'm trying to do exactly what you said in a video, I'm getting big on a platform so I can take them to my Twitch. You should give an advice or two for foreigners that want to stream on Twitch but they don't speak English on their channel. I mean I know basic English but I won't be spontaneous because it's not my main language. What should we do? Just limit ourselves for Romanian audience in my case? Because here, in Romania, Twitch is not that popular, our biggest Twitch Channel has 160k followers and on RUclips they have 1M, and they are very good! It's a pitty. Keep up the good work, I'm hooked on your content forever!

I have the "whatever this is" that is said at 5:22. They are called play light bar I love them, they are great and light up the walls behind me quite well. Obviously they have a whole slew of colors that you can use and they are super easy to use. you do still need the hub but once you have it then any other lighting you want to get from them is a relatively decent price. you can get them where the case is either white or black and they come with two different stands so that you can lay it down like it shows in the picture in this video or you can stand them up vertically.

I use the Philips hue light bars, I was hoping you had done a review on that but didn't see one (the ones that you said whatever these are haha) They're useful because you can either mount them on a wall or you can use the stand they come with to place them on your desk, a table, a shelf, etc. However I'm having difficulty with my current office placing them correctly for the best lighting. If you ever want to do a review on those specifically I would love to see it! This video was helpful though so that I could see what other options streamers use. I've looked at the Nanoleaf brand before but because I have a large wooden bookshelf in my office for my manga and figurines it wasn't feasible for my usage. Thanks for all the different review videos you do!

You need a snood to do the Logo...
Basically a Funnle to make the Light more focused with a Cut out of a thick material at the end.
I have done stuff like that with lights like that its Alright*
Another option us Put a cut out infront and set the light up behind it facing the Camera... instead of trying to Project do a Backlight concept.
A 3rd idea is a clear plexiglas with the Logo etched on and have a light below
Light strips work well but an low and behind light will make the etching Pop.

Definitely would take the flood lights due to the fact that, not only are they cheap but they are really bright. Can liven up the room like your gaming room.
The beams are DOPE but just for the way you use them. I’m sure your can do great things with them but the flood lights are simple. Easy. And just quick to set up before the stream.
I do like the integration of the other light, for example, the hue lights but takes too much work for a smaller streamer. Well I guess that can set you apart... idk. I like your idea with the 3-D print. That would be soo cool! Or even do that same idea with the flood light but have it shine you logo on the wall like the old super hero days haha.

The LIFX beams are just overpriced addressable LED strips in a diffused channel.
The way the pimps do it is to buy a roll of WS2813/15, then buy some bendable LED channels with the milky diffusers... Then bend a bunch of them into rings and intertwine them to form a ball of rings, or just bend them into a swirl pattern and then connect them on the ends to make a large swirl light that rises from its base on the floor....

The Lifx tile has similar problems, but compared to Nanoleaf - well.. you can only connect 5(?) of them, but they're made up of 64 or something sections that light independently, rather than nanoleaf's one colour from each corner... so they're pretty amazing that way. But I don't see them out at all, which is a shame. I really do like that Phillips are branching out on so many purpose built lights tho, and would like to see a comparison of phillips floods compared to floods, rather than a bulb compared to floods, etc.

6:35 That setup alone won’t achieve the effect you had in mind because all it is is a big fat bulb directly behind an image slide. The result will be very blurry and unrecognizable. You would need at least a single lens element somewhere between the slide and the projection surface to get it in focus and the light would have to be ridiculously bright. Hope that seemed more helpful than condescending.

Watched the whole video which was great. My confusion however is how you managed the clip at the end lol? It’s a longbow that somehow fires a burst but doesn’t use any ammo on your screen

Since I've already got the HUE Bridge, and numerous bulbs around the house, that's the option I'd go with. As far as the complaint about them not having enough light, there are many other bulbs (varying prices of course) However, HUE lighting is pretty expensive.. Not sure how much they were for Prime Day, and I've noticed significant discounts in the past.. but they are pretty expensive.

I have LIFX bulb for backlight. Pretty happy with it, it's brighter than Phillips HUE and doesn't require any hub. But it can do less things. There's also bulbs from Xiaomi. I would buy Xiaomi instead now actually, cuz they're cheap, they can be easily integrated into smart home solution that I use. And I use my LIFX only on 60% brightness, so I don't even need such a bright bulb.

I'd love the nanoleaf to go in the corner and light up my display case with gaming stuff in, if hue did things like the leaf then I think it would be nice with the integration to twitch or anything.

Personally I think all the lights have their own benefits depending on your style, I find using the philips Hue has been nice for the wide range of products and I enjoy the "mood" lighting style along with "party style" when I connect it to say a guitar hero stream.

I was actually hoping and looking for a little something more similar to a comparison like how you did with the mics. I will start researching these tho. Im so lucky tho! I had start investing into Hue lights when I started making my home into a "smart home" and already have the bridge plus FIVE lights, one in the master bath that never gets much action, just put it there so my girl wouldn't pee on the floor when going tinkles lol "just follow the blue light, baby" ahahahah but I think I need more info on the lights that will be lighting my face. love your videos, holla atchu ltrz!!

I'm a bit confused on the appeal of the beam lights. If you can just get led strip lights and put a diffuser panel over them, isn't that accomplishing the same thing?

You didn't mention the Lifx Tile! I don't have any experience with it or the Beam, but I have long been a fan of Lifx. Far less complicated than the Hue system and waaaaaay better than the other knockoff attempts. One thing to note with Lifx, they have preset themes that coordinate the colors of all the bulbs in the particular room/group/etc.

I grabbed the hues man and I’m a bit upset about the brightness but for what they are they are pretty good and they are soooo easy to use. Also just got $100 soft box kit off eBay and LOVE it!
    Lighting is king!

I use a 1Dxii for my vids so iso isn’t a problem and I think that’s why I don’t mind the low brightness. That said, there’s a bit of a competition between the softboxes and the hues for exposure but once I have a proper do it should be fine 😁

Hey Harris. Love all your vids, I am actively learning taking my lights a step further (work in progress) by buying sound activated and MIDI controlled lights for my broadcasts. I Teach myself guitar on stream, while I play the song I learned I think its pretty dope to have lights change based on the beat and tempo, thats my next investment. I Curently use rocksmith to learn so I invested in some cool neon guitar strings and a couple black light bulbs as well as a light up suit tie and belt for you guessed. Twitch Rave party style. Thanks for all the inspiration Harris. love all the work you do.
