    • @MichaelOnYourSix
      @MichaelOnYourSix 10 месяцев назад +1

      In a dyno test, they go full throttle and then load the engine. It's exactly what it sounds like, they replicate real world conditions and put resistance on the crankshaft to simulate how it would be in a real car.
      When they load the engine rpms will drop slightly before the dynamometer let's the engine ramp.
      Ramp speed of the dyno is adjustable too, typically a slower ramp speed gives more accurate data, with increased risk, as you're having the engine under 100% load for a longer period.

    • @TH3C001
      @TH3C001 10 месяцев назад +3

      Pretty sure it's the strain or load put on it by the dyno, but I don't know for sure. The engine loads down under the effort before revving all the way up.

    • @mback12000
      @mback12000 9 месяцев назад +2

      Its the dyno. That's how a dyno pull works. The water brake servo pulls/loads the engine to the lowest rpm of the test sweep, then releases slowly to allow the revs to increase to the programmed highest test rpm. It does this at a programmed acceleration rate, typically 300-600 rpm/sec. Which bring us to another proof point why this ain't hitting 12k rpm. Listen carefully and look at the video time stamps. The water brake begins the rpm ramp at about 10.5 seconds, and the pull is complete at 14ish (hard to grab exactly with the RUclips stamp. So a roughly 4 second ramp. At a 600rpm/sec test, this pull did not have enough time to get to 12k rpm because the pull began way below the 8100rpm torque peak. Most dyno pulls are about 3000-3500 rpm sweep. The video title is BS.

That displacement is somewhere between 427 and 454 cubic inches to make the 663 ft-lb. If it's only 400ci making 663ft-lb that is completely outstanding and not "normal". If it's some oddball deck plated or larger displacement block at 460-500ci, then 663ft-lb is not that impressive. @@NOQUARTER_

      Hey Rob. Alot of us don't think it made it to 12,000, we think it was click bait, it just didn't sound like it! The tunnel rams and carbs can make it there, not sure they had enough head. It sounded like 9000 or 10000 rpm. The dyno sheet said a 8100 RPM power peak.
      Ok I re-read it. The dyno seems to indicate 1076 HP @ 8800 rpm and 663 ft-lb @ 8100 RPM.
      That is a heck of a high torque peak! I still think the wound it out to maybe 10,000 rpm if that. The 12,000 was a click bait. That's alot of power, those heads are flowing somewhere from 400-475cfm!. I wonder which heads they are? @@robboss1839

      Small pistons are terrible for high revs, because they can't fit large enough intake valves. It's why the Ford Modular is such a turd without any boost, while even the 4.8L LS is solid. Hell, people takes the 4.8 crank into a 6.2 block, and make it into an evil frankenmotor.

      tiny pistons? nobody said that, anny F1 engine since way back had larger pistons and low stroke to make them able to rev, and i can bet this engine is not some stroker engine, but rather destroked to make that rpm
