    Also you can add lemon juice to the red cabbage juice to make a bright violet pink.
    Also I made the blue using baking soda then accidentally overcooked/burnt it (while trying to reduce it) and it went a really bright almost synthetic looking green. A happy accident because it was helpful to make the green I was trying to make

      Wait, does that mean that the blue color is not heat-stable? If I mix this into pasta dough, will it still retain the blue coloration?

      Great Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Millawdon Enemy Foods Trick (just google it)? It is a great exclusive guide for learning how to detox the body from toxins minus the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend at very last got astronomical results with it.

    I just tried this and it worked great, thanks!! 👍🏼 Now I can make a natural blue and purple cake for my son for his birthday!
    I boiled the cabbage for 10 minutes, boiled the leftover water for 20 minutes to reduce, and that worked! I added a little less than 1/2 tsp of baking soda to make dark almost navy blue.

    • @liislang9623
      @liislang9623 8 лет назад +9

      I made my own food coloring like this, but you'll have to add a lot of it to get somewhat bright color (and then use less egg whites, otherwise the batter may be too runny).
      My macarons came out more pastel colored. But these colors do work perfect with filling.

      You could use them, but it might work better if you boil them to reduce first as this will intensify the color and you can use less so the batter's texture doesn't get too liquidy

    • @user-lr5cx1ni4r
      @user-lr5cx1ni4r 6 лет назад

      Even though this is better for you and isn't unhealthy the colors are very muted and won't work for great for decorating cakes or cookies.

    Its time for my nerdy ass to explain why that happens.
    Red cabbage juice is a solution that can be used to identify if a substance is an acid or an alkali. Basically, it is an indicator.
    When you mix this indicator with an acid, the shade of the liquid turns from a purple to a red.
    On the other hand, i you mix this liquid with an alkali, the shade of the liquid turns from a purple to a BLUE.
    BAKING SODA is alkaline,
    So if you mix baking soda and cabbage juice, it'll turn blue.
    This is why the cabbage juice turns into a blue. It's not magic, it's SCIENCEEE!
    EDIT:Nevermind I didn't watch the full f*cking part and now i look like an idiot
