@Blah Blah So you are correct that you can see that far given the circumstances such as desert combat (although heat haze place a huge huge factor in view distance) or open ocean combat (It depends how high above the sea you are. The curvature of the earth means that, on the sea shore at a height of two metres, you can see just 5km or 3 miles) to do so BUT at that distance you wouldn't see anything unless it was moving in the blatant open. The only reason you can see the people it would be a because real life doesn't have LOD limitations. You also can't "zoom" your eyes like they are bionic in respect to both no actually using the binos AND fov isn't a realistic function. Dudes camoed in foliage are almost invisible. Also because the scale of humans at distance is overall larger in all video games due to the size of pixies while real life also isn't constricted to that. You wouldn't even be able to see someone firing their rifle if it was daytime or if it has a flash hider/suppressor, which is why the position of targets is done by sound and impact of slug (at night time different story). Basically if you could see someone at 800 meters than rifle optics like the ACOG would be useless instead of the huge assets they are because the military isn't going to waste money on unneeded things unless it's for an General or one of their ideas. If looking towards you, shoulder width is approximately 18" give or take a couple inches. At 300 yds 18" is 6 MOA (18 divided by 3). So at 100yds (90ish meters) 6 MOA is about 6" silhouette. At 800 meters it's 2.25 MOA meaning the average military aged male shoulder while facing directly at you is only 2 1/4" at 90 meters, unless you have experience in the area of long range spotting you won't see anything, unless like I said they are blatantly moving out in the open such as the open ocean. This is why thermals are so handy, proved in Kosovo while the UN troops chilled in their bases watching the Croats and Srbs go at each other. At about half a mile (almost 900 meters) without thermals it was just a Pink Floyd laser (tracer) show but with thermals they could actually see the people at that distance (because thermal and zoom).

Worse part is I play AT, not a fun role to play in Squad anymore, 30 minutes of running around while no one gives you an actual location of the vehicle only to be blasted by 12.7 from a mile away because terrible armor system that allows tanks to just camp the outside of the map with their butts outside of the map. Hit a LAV two days ago in the wheels with a RPG-2(I think 6, that's what that garbage underpowered MEA uses right?) ... didn't even track it somehow.
