      @Chidambaranathan s well to be fare...while they are based in Kolkata, it does extensively cover about Metro Projects across India. Ofcourse maybe those videos will not feature so many local anecdotes but that is not something a collab cannot fix.

      Very true we need more metro lines. But Not only Railways , Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. Of WB should also take initiative. As in one video in this very channel it was clearly explained that without active cooperation of native MoUD the Metro lines cannot be expanded.

      Now all you need is a high speed rail system then again your airline service is nowhere near as awful as plane service in China lol that’s why so many Chinese people are quick to embrace HSR trains when they are built they abandoned the planes which from the horror stories rival trains in USA for unreliability

    When I was a kid I saw metro work started in Dum Dum Cantonment...
    Now I am grown up, started doing job...

    The information is very detailed, thank you for the episode. The narrow thoroughfares of North Kolkata are truly a headache. Compared to that even the lanes and by-lanes of South Kolkata sometimes feel wider than main roads of North Kolkata.

    I LIVE IN KAIKHALI AREA AND I AM WAITING FOR A DECADE FOR OPENING OF THIS IMPORTANT LINE. IN MY REGULAR COMUTE, I SEE GOOD PROGRESS AND SPEED ON AIRPORT METRO STATION CONSTRUCTION BUT CONSTUCTION OF VIADUCT FROM NOAPARA TO DUMDUM CANT TO JESSORE ROAD IS EXTRIMLY SLOW. SADLY I THINK IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER 3-4 YEARS TO OPEN THIS LINE. ALSO METRO LINE FROM AIRPORT TO BARASAT WILL TAKE ANOTHER DECADE, PROBALLY AFTER 2032 OR MAY BE AFTER 2035 SINCE IT WILL GO UNDERGROUND FROM BT COLLEGE TO BARASAT(AS PER MY ESTIMATE AND SURVEY).METRO LINE UPTO NEW BARRACKPUR MAY OPEN BY 2026-28 TIMEFRAME. CONSTRUCTION OF MADHYAMGRAM, HRYDAYPUR AND BARASAT STATION WILL STILL REQUIRE SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF VERY TRICKY LAND AQUISITION AND DON'T FORGET LONG LONG LITIGATION. IT WILL BE A NIGHTMARE FOR TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT TO MANAGE THIS DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THESE FUTURE STATION SINCE MOST LIKELY IT WILL BE BUILT IN CUT AND COVER METHOD. SOME TIME I FEEL IT MAY NOT SEE THE LIGHT OF THE DAY EVEN IN 2050.

    Since we are talking about Kolkata Metro, why don't you create a separate video elucidating the rationale of using OHE AC Power Supply (Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chennai) vs Third Rail DC Power Supply (Kolkata, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Kanpur (possibly), Agra (possibly))..
    Coming to the Global Metro Systems, which one do you think is more prevalent and why? From my personal experience, I think the Third Rail DC system is more prevalent. Please share your views..

    Traffic at Airport Gate no. 1 till Madhyamgram is still less than Nagerbazaar Jessore road. I think we need one underground metro at Nagerbazaar Jessore road as well.

    Jessore road station is not at all ready. Along with Airport station it will take 1-2 years more. Will they bring TBM or do cut and cover from airport till Barasat?

      Jessore road and airport both station will be fully completed by middle of next year. From airport to new barrackpore tunnel will be dug by cut and cover method however there will be no traffic disruption as the Airport-New barrackpore tracks will be within the airport premises. No idea about New barrackpore to barasat stretch. They may use tunnel boring machine as that stretch us along the main road so in order to expedite faster construction Kolkata metro may use TBM.

After that,, signalling, electrical works do take time. No matter what Metro railway claims,, it'll not be possible to commission this section before december, 2023.
