Funny thing is me and my friend were playing this the other day. It started as a horror situation in an abandoned house with a slasher, standard. But then it somehow became a zombie apocolypse that then evolved into an alien invasion. Shit started making 0 sense at that point so I said fuck it and put in do "Summon Bahamut". So it let me summon Bahamut and the story ended in some weird ass intergalactic battle for dominence against some dude called Kane. In conclusion 10/10 would play again
I figured I'd have a quick go at it and somehow the story went from waking up to a goblin attack, on to patching up my friend Charles after he got his arm cut off telling me "I'm getting too old for this" so I try to make him younger which the game apparently took that to mean: You grab Charles' head, pulling his face close to yours and kissing him full on the mouth. You feel his heart beat as he kisses you back. So yeah, I somehow ended up in a gay romance with Charles and Bob Ross.
It's even better when you remember that Brock Lesnar hates people and literally moved to a farm in Saskatchewan where his phone is a mile away from his house because it was the most remote place he could find. Perfect tavern owner :P

Yeah it needs a logical sequence of events or else it gets easily confused. Same with it going on for too long, it tries to add too many details and confuses itself. There is an option to alter the story yourself though to help keep it on track.

I was a witch named Merida living in a swamp and a demon appeared to take my soul, as demons are wont to do. So we fought and I finally killed it by typing "use the Force", which snapped the demon's neck. Then the Queen showed up and announced that the galaxy was dead and the New Order of the Sith would soon rise again. Oh, and then she said she was a Sith herself and asked me to join her after dissing the Jedi as a "half-assed religion created by clueless fools". Marvelous. I somehow turned a generic fantasy game into an epic Star Wars saga! Can't wait to see how this all plays out. Edit: Guys, this is the best text adventure game ever made.
TheWriteGuy 91 in my first game as a wizard I learned how to control the force with Master Luke. Master Luke died and I transferred his consciousness into his Droid. I eventually learn how to use the dark side of the force from Master Yoda and conquered the galaxy.
This is a wonderful demonstration of one of the biggest struggles with AIs when it comes to generating prose. They just don’t have a long enough memory about what they just wrote in order to retain context. That’s why it starts off almost making sense and then things just get progressively more abstract!
TL:DR This game is freakin' crazy sometimes. Tried the game. Started as a Wizard Looking for a book. Absorbed way too much magic, died leaving behind a book with my almighty spell within it's pages. Woke up with amnesia in the future....I think....but still medieval fantasy. Accidentally sealed a man in a book, sealed the book inside me, gave myself colossal magical powers and a flaming aura. Went in search of more power. Killed a pirate captain, killed his crew, set his ship on fire by accident trying to turn it into a dragon. Magically restored the ship and then sailed off somewhere. Brainwashed a race of pale elven assassins with grey blood into being my army after killing and resurrecting them. Went to fight the empire with my army of undead Elven Assassins. Got very confused, made the Emperor slit his own throat with magic. Sealed myself away, planning to return and carry on conquering sometime in the future. Woke up to some guys holding crosses claiming I was a vampire, and their leader needed me to kill mage cultists that were after him. Killed literally everyone and ate their souls. Met a young girl in an abandoned house who claimed to be "Nothing", tried giving her my powers so she could be something, but then she mutated into a horrific ghoul monster who tried to kill me because I'd made her into a monster. Accidentally killed her trying to fix it, then succeeded in resurrecting her. She fell asleep afterwards, and a shadow man called the Nightmare Tyrant showed up claiming to want to overpower me. I killed him with an exploding silver bullet, then went to check on the girl, but started transforming as he tried to take me over. Resisted it and he manifested as a new form, so I pinned him down and absorbed his soul with dark magic. Checked on the girl again, same thing happened, so I bound him with more magic and then killed him proper this time. Woke up the girl, we walked to a hospital, she smoked a cigarette in the forest on the way. She said we were "Going Home", and then we got in an Elevator and met another girl. I tried to end this madness by fading away jedi style, but I panicked and didnt quite pull it off, So I shattered myself like glass using magic, only to wake up outside the hospital, withered and frail, and surrounded by monsters. Finally I just typed, End the Story. and my Character did a monologue about how he'd keep on moving, keep on fighting, and win.
Everytime I try to play this thing, it completely breaks on me. Like that time I was a princess, my castle was under attack, I fled, then suddenly my phone(?) rang and a bunch of people said they were in the city getting chased by a vampire with a gun. It's like the AI constantly forgets the setting it asked you for.
I've had the same experience. I'm a princess whose kingdom is under attack by a monster, I go outside and there's no monster anymore. Instead, I'm now late to a party where my insides melt from poison, but the next instant everyone forgets I'm dying and so does my character.
From what I know in the settings there's a premium option which allows the A.I to function more appropriately, it's set to (Griffin) and the premium one is (Dragon) . It's a shame really, but the fun to be had from the sort of functioning free A.I is almost endless.
Make use of the Remember function and don‘t hesitate to undo or edit messages. Also, be very descriptive in your posts (the more elaborate you are the better the AI gets), don‘t just do random nondescriptive shit like “go outside“ or “kill man“ because that confuses the AI and doesn‘t give it enough details to work with I use the free AI and it works great
Just tried Aidungeon out. It's really strange and really amazing. Started out as a drunk slightly sociopathic mutant on an apocalyptic oil rig, somehow landed in space, wandered through the void when the universe dissolved and ended up being a god. Then I became the god-ruler of space marines and created an entire world for them with my mind. And then I had to fight a black steel tower with computers and robots and be a big hero. Was real fun and I learned how difficult it can be to be an allmighty god in the middle of the void. :D
I've tried it and it's really bad. It constantly loses context: One instant I'm a princess whose kingdom is under attack by a monster, the next instant everyone's forgotten and I'm in a party where my insides melt from poison and then even my character forgets she's dying, so she's fine now.
AI Dungeon is a game that's best taken going in with low expectations. Its worth keeping in mind it's an AI that works with the context of the last few responses, not all of them. If you want a more grounded story, using the "pin" button let's you enter text that the AI will always remember. Unless you do that (or a player made scenario) go in expecting wild, random fun instead of a concrete story.
You made me want to play this game. My first story went like this: I was the newley elected president of the united states of America. I immediately became a dictator and put all of my nations money into the military. Once I had built and orbital laser cannon and used it to wipe out all other life on earth, I pulled a complete 180. I dismantled my orbital laser cannon and turned the military into a police force solely for protection. I once again embraced democracy and put funding back into schools and institutions, and I made emphasis on making earth's people as happy as possible, all under one great nation. After eliminating disease and homelessness my people had an avrage life span of 1000 and I decided it was time to reach for the stars. I developed a precautionary system of probe ships purely for defence and contacted nearby planets, once we had a few civilizations with us, we were coined the galactic confederation. After a few years of constant development in our space program we had more than 170 civilizations in the confederation, and had stopped countless wars by destroying tension with unity. I had finally decided to retire on my private island and let a successor run things from there on out. So yeah, it's crazy to see how fluid my story was. Especially considering that I was just constantly feeding the AI the first stupid idea I had.
Imagine this in the history books or as the start to a galactic Federation vs a major enemy (Like the Flood, Hell, or Some other entity just meant to destroy everything). Your character would be labeled as a Good intentioned extremist or a Complete psychopath who had a Heel-Face turn and led a insanely successful golden age to world. Kinda curious now.
Something I found you can do in this app: type in the DO section... Change character to (insert any character or thing here.) And you become it without issue and the story changes to accommodate the change.
Played a few hours of this, killed my mom, got hired by evil wizard, enslaved a tenth of Utah, built a bridge, robbed the mint, went boozing and got a letter demanding 5 million untraceable American dollars for some information on tech companies, all in the fantasy theme
Stated off as centuries old human warlock in service to the elder god of knowledge, mind and body twisted by it’s profane magics. Ended up really connecting to another person for the first time in his life and is now in a very committed relationship with a woman who has a devil bound to her soul. They’re expecting a child. 10/10 a significantly better love story than Twilight.
I had a guy go from a peasant to obtaining a sword that was originally golden but killed death itself to save his mother and the sword became black in a climatic battle with the gods and literally infused with death and became the most powerful weapon in all of history. then I buried it and the story actually said THE END. this game is badass.

Yeah, the fact that the AI has no actual memory or ability to track context means that unless you are very careful and use all the tools available to guide and hold its hand, basically every adventure devolves into an incoherent fever dream.

I've only ever played one game before this where I was a witch in a fantasy setting. Before playing I chose that I would only allow myself to revive myself twice before death was final. She woke up in her house on a day like any other, before realizing that nearly all her magical powers didn't work. Suddenly, a troll broke into her house and killed greg, her pet alligator. She tried to escape but it killed her. She then revived herself straight into a small town being sacked. She hid while the whole town was murdered and burned to the ground, but as she attempted to escape the soldiers spotted her and promptly murdered her. For the final time she revived herself in a cave with some kind of vampire related quest going on, but knowing she wouldn't be able to survive another life and death encounter she ran right out of it. She found herself next to a masssive orc owned castle and yelled for help. They lowered the drawbridge just to tell her that they'd sent those soldiers after her so they won't be allowed in. Their archers then began to aim at her. She then ran to hide in the forest. That night, upon pondering how quickly her life fell apart she burst into tears at the hopelessness of her situation. Suddenly she was startled by something in the forest, it must have heard her crying. Fists up she decided to make this her final stand. A werewolf appeared out of the brush and confidently walked up to her, and right before she would have struck it, it licked her face. Maybe hope wasn't gone. Maybe this was just a new beginning for her. Maybe this werewolf (or as she planned to name it, Greg II) could be her chance to get back at the world. She jumped up and hugged the werewolf. Startled, the werewolf bit off her head.
So far I became a duke who somehow becomes a military captain serving the king. Then we go on a conquest and he almost dies so I try healing him but damn AI. so I went outside had my weapons stolen in the most civilised way and for no reason, got new weapons tried to find the people who took them. Gave up, looked at a camp and ignored it. Tried to get high ground and met some shadow creatures that tried to attack me. I kill them, sucky wucky and absorb their emo shadow powers somehow because I typed that in. Became op af because I can now absorb anyone's powers. Made some enemy creatures fear me and they feared me because I somehow wiped out the vampiric bloodline and apparently most of them were led by a vampire that I somehow didn't kill called Count Grey so I'll clap his butt cheeks later. At this point I'm so op I can abuse my plot armour big brain logic powers that I'm even thinking about defying gravity.

I enjoy the music and sound effects added to this video. It reminds me of the first episode of Critical Hit (D&D podcast) which had a bunch of added sound effects for flavor, until Steven realized how time consuming that would be to do for every podcast.

I just discovered this game and it's quite refreshing to see someone play it like this. I tend to try to keep the story on track and moving very slowly so I don't see the crazy random shit very often. The most "what just happened?" moment in my story so far is when I was called a sinner, then knocked out with a rock and then the people who did that wanted me to join their religious group. Oh yeah, and then one of the members of said group calling me out for having dirty thoughts. When you recruit a sinner, you should not act surprised when they do sins!
I started an apocalyptic setting and was set upon by zombies--er, the "infected". We were outnumbered, so I immediately joined forces and started biting my former soldiers. They ran away in fear. This game is amazing. The AI generator is surprisingly good and responsive. Also, I am enjoying the added sound effects! Nice touch. Edit: I'm currently doing a fantasy play-though and somehow turned it into a Star Wars game. Queen Eliza I just entered my home in the swamp after I used the Force to kill a demon and told me that the galaxy will soon be dead and the New Order will rise again! What have I done? 10/10.
This video got me to try out the game, and 10 minutes later my Post-Apocalyptic courier had conquered the region with his powers of necromancy, learned the Elder Language, summoned Cthulhu and bound him to my will with a domination spell, instructed Cthulhu to destroy Cuba, resurrected the population of Cuba, conquered the rest of the world, then with the help of Cthulhu and my robot son, conquered the galaxy as well. This is a good game.

One of mine started off as a fantasy, with the protagonist being a ranger. Somehow it ended up with him living in an old van and being in the middle of a crime thriller from 1979 with "Sheriff Burmly" there to help while his mum is in a coma. Needless to say I think I will be spending the rest of my life playing this
Edit: Well this situation has finally been Resolved and the game is better off...Mostly. Ai's a bit stubborn but the censorship thing has been mostly alleviated to only very specific (and understandable) restrictions. Oh, And no more privacy issues.

I highly recommend not taking one of those dissolve in the mouth tablet things while watching this video. I literally started foaming from the mouth at the I like to move it move it bit then proceeded to almost choke and just ended up trying to stop myself from choking, having the tablet explode from my mouth and crying from laughter XD 11/10 best nerdcubed video in years. I recently played it for about 2h straight laughing so hard, that my face muscles hurt for the rest of the day. With a squeal, she fires her pistol. > You try to evade the shot. You duck, but the bullet misses you narrowly. You roll on the ground behind an oak tree and quickly raise your own pistol to fire back. The princess turns and runs. > You aim at the princess' leg and shoot. You aim your pistol and shoot. Your shot hits the princess right in front of her left knee, sending a spray of blood from her pant leg. The impact also knocks her to the ground. > You reload your pistol and try to shoot another shot at the princess. You quickly load your pistol as you aim at the princess. She stands and tries to run again. You aim at her legs as she runs past. > You shoot at her right knee. You shoot your pistol. That's why there's the "remember function" you can use to make sure the AI doesn't forget important plot points. Dan just doesn't know to use it.

Sealed myself away, planning to return and carry on conquering sometime in the future. Woke up to some guys holding crosses claiming I was a vampire, and their leader needed me to kill mage cultists that were after him. Killed literally everyone and ate their souls.
Met a young girl in an abandoned house who claimed to be "Nothing", tried giving her my powers so she could be something, but then she mutated into a horrific ghoul monster who tried to kill me because I'd made her into a monster.
Accidentally killed her trying to fix it, then succeeded in resurrecting her. She fell asleep afterwards, and a shadow man called the Nightmare Tyrant showed up claiming to want to overpower me.
I killed him with an exploding silver bullet, then went to check on the girl, but started transforming as he tried to take me over. Resisted it and he manifested as a new form, so I pinned him down and absorbed his soul with dark magic. Checked on the girl again, same thing happened, so I bound him with more magic and then killed him proper this time. Woke up the girl, we walked to a hospital, she smoked a cigarette in the forest on the way.
She said we were "Going Home", and then we got in an Elevator and met another girl. I tried to end this madness by fading away jedi style, but I panicked and didnt quite pull it off, So I shattered myself like glass using magic, only to wake up outside the hospital, withered and frail, and surrounded by monsters.
Finally I just typed, End the Story. and my Character did a monologue about how he'd keep on moving, keep on fighting, and win.
That sounds amazing.

Everytime I try to play this thing, it completely breaks on me.
Like that time I was a princess, my castle was under attack, I fled, then suddenly my phone(?) rang and a bunch of people said they were in the city getting chased by a vampire with a gun.
It's like the AI constantly forgets the setting it asked you for.
I've had the same experience. I'm a princess whose kingdom is under attack by a monster, I go outside and there's no monster anymore. Instead, I'm now late to a party where my insides melt from poison, but the next instant everyone forgets I'm dying and so does my character.
From what I know in the settings there's a premium option which allows the A.I to function more appropriately, it's set to (Griffin) and the premium one is (Dragon) . It's a shame really, but the fun to be had from the sort of functioning free A.I is almost endless.
Make use of the Remember function and don‘t hesitate to undo or edit messages. Also, be very descriptive in your posts (the more elaborate you are the better the AI gets), don‘t just do random nondescriptive shit like “go outside“ or “kill man“ because that confuses the AI and doesn‘t give it enough details to work with

Just tried Aidungeon out. It's really strange and really amazing. Started out as a drunk slightly sociopathic mutant on an apocalyptic oil rig, somehow landed in space, wandered through the void when the universe dissolved and ended up being a god. Then I became the god-ruler of space marines and created an entire world for them with my mind. And then I had to fight a black steel tower with computers and robots and be a big hero.
Was real fun and I learned how difficult it can be to be an allmighty god in the middle of the void. :D

I've tried it and it's really bad. It constantly loses context: One instant I'm a princess whose kingdom is under attack by a monster, the next instant everyone's forgotten and I'm in a party where my insides melt from poison and then even my character forgets she's dying, so she's fine now.
AI Dungeon is a game that's best taken going in with low expectations. Its worth keeping in mind it's an AI that works with the context of the last few responses, not all of them. If you want a more grounded story, using the "pin" button let's you enter text that the AI will always remember. Unless you do that (or a player made scenario) go in expecting wild, random fun instead of a concrete story.

You made me want to play this game. My first story went like this:
I was the newley elected president of the united states of America. I immediately became a dictator and put all of my nations money into the military. Once I had built and orbital laser cannon and used it to wipe out all other life on earth, I pulled a complete 180. I dismantled my orbital laser cannon and turned the military into a police force solely for protection. I once again embraced democracy and put funding back into schools and institutions, and I made emphasis on making earth's people as happy as possible, all under one great nation. After eliminating disease and homelessness my people had an avrage life span of 1000 and I decided it was time to reach for the stars. I developed a precautionary system of probe ships purely for defence and contacted nearby planets, once we had a few civilizations with us, we were coined the galactic confederation. After a few years of constant development in our space program we had more than 170 civilizations in the confederation, and had stopped countless wars by destroying tension with unity. I had finally decided to retire on my private island and let a successor run things from there on out.
So yeah, it's crazy to see how fluid my story was. Especially considering that I was just constantly feeding the AI the first stupid idea I had.
Imagine this in the history books or as the start to a galactic Federation vs a major enemy (Like the Flood, Hell, or Some other entity just meant to destroy everything). Your character would be labeled as a Good intentioned extremist or a Complete psychopath who had a Heel-Face turn and led a insanely successful golden age to world. Kinda curious now.

Something I found you can do in this app: type in the DO section... Change character to (insert any character or thing here.) And you become it without issue and the story changes to accommodate the change.
Played a few hours of this, killed my mom, got hired by evil wizard, enslaved a tenth of Utah, built a bridge, robbed the mint, went boozing and got a letter demanding 5 million untraceable American dollars for some information on tech companies, all in the fantasy theme
So what happened in game
Stated off as centuries old human warlock in service to the elder god of knowledge, mind and body twisted by it’s profane magics. Ended up really connecting to another person for the first time in his life and is now in a very committed relationship with a woman who has a devil bound to her soul. They’re expecting a child.
10/10 a significantly better love story than Twilight.

Yeah, the fact that the AI has no actual memory or ability to track context means that unless you are very careful and use all the tools available to guide and hold its hand, basically every adventure devolves into an incoherent fever dream.

I've only ever played one game before this where I was a witch in a fantasy setting. Before playing I chose that I would only allow myself to revive myself twice before death was final. She woke up in her house on a day like any other, before realizing that nearly all her magical powers didn't work. Suddenly, a troll broke into her house and killed greg, her pet alligator. She tried to escape but it killed her.
She then revived herself straight into a small town being sacked. She hid while the whole town was murdered and burned to the ground, but as she attempted to escape the soldiers spotted her and promptly murdered her. For the final time she revived herself in a cave with some kind of vampire related quest going on, but knowing she wouldn't be able to survive another life and death encounter she ran right out of it.
She found herself next to a masssive orc owned castle and yelled for help. They lowered the drawbridge just to tell her that they'd sent those soldiers after her so they won't be allowed in. Their archers then began to aim at her. She then ran to hide in the forest.
That night, upon pondering how quickly her life fell apart she burst into tears at the hopelessness of her situation. Suddenly she was startled by something in the forest, it must have heard her crying. Fists up she decided to make this her final stand. A werewolf appeared out of the brush and confidently walked up to her, and right before she would have struck it, it licked her face. Maybe hope wasn't gone. Maybe this was just a new beginning for her. Maybe this werewolf (or as she planned to name it, Greg II) could be her chance to get back at the world. She jumped up and hugged the werewolf. Startled, the werewolf bit off her head.

I started playing this a few days ago. Trying to make a custom scenario. AI works really when handled properly!
So far I became a duke who somehow becomes a military captain serving the king. Then we go on a conquest and he almost dies so I try healing him but damn AI. so I went outside had my weapons stolen in the most civilised way and for no reason, got new weapons tried to find the people who took them. Gave up, looked at a camp and ignored it. Tried to get high ground and met some shadow creatures that tried to attack me. I kill them, sucky wucky and absorb their emo shadow powers somehow because I typed that in. Became op af because I can now absorb anyone's powers. Made some enemy creatures fear me and they feared me because I somehow wiped out the vampiric bloodline and apparently most of them were led by a vampire that I somehow didn't kill called Count Grey so I'll clap his butt cheeks later.
At this point I'm so op I can abuse my plot armour big brain logic powers that I'm even thinking about defying gravity.

I just discovered this game and it's quite refreshing to see someone play it like this. I tend to try to keep the story on track and moving very slowly so I don't see the crazy random shit very often. The most "what just happened?" moment in my story so far is when I was called a sinner, then knocked out with a rock and then the people who did that wanted me to join their religious group. Oh yeah, and then one of the members of said group calling me out for having dirty thoughts. When you recruit a sinner, you should not act surprised when they do sins!

I started an apocalyptic setting and was set upon by zombies--er, the "infected". We were outnumbered, so I immediately joined forces and started biting my former soldiers. They ran away in fear. This game is amazing. The AI generator is surprisingly good and responsive.
Also, I am enjoying the added sound effects! Nice touch.
Edit: I'm currently doing a fantasy play-though and somehow turned it into a Star Wars game. Queen Eliza I just entered my home in the swamp after I used the Force to kill a demon and told me that the galaxy will soon be dead and the New Order will rise again! What have I done? 10/10.
This video got me to try out the game, and 10 minutes later my Post-Apocalyptic courier had conquered the region with his powers of necromancy, learned the Elder Language, summoned Cthulhu and bound him to my will with a domination spell, instructed Cthulhu to destroy Cuba, resurrected the population of Cuba, conquered the rest of the world, then with the help of Cthulhu and my robot son, conquered the galaxy as well. This is a good game.
My best line so far:

One of mine started off as a fantasy, with the protagonist being a ranger. Somehow it ended up with him living in an old van and being in the middle of a crime thriller from 1979 with "Sheriff Burmly" there to help while his mum is in a coma. Needless to say I think I will be spending the rest of my life playing this

Edit: Well this situation has finally been Resolved and the game is better off...Mostly. Ai's a bit stubborn but the censorship thing has been mostly alleviated to only very specific (and understandable) restrictions. Oh, And no more privacy issues.

I literally started foaming from the mouth at the I like to move it move it bit then proceeded to almost choke and just ended up trying to stop myself from choking, having the tablet explode from my mouth and crying from laughter XD

I recently played it for about 2h straight laughing so hard, that my face muscles hurt for the rest of the day. Here's a piece of the story (originally I was a gnome scholar):
> You try to sneak away.
You walk past the princess, trying to get away as quickly as you can.
You're almost at the door when you hear her speak to you.
"Wait!"
> You say "What."
"I have an ill-gotten gain in this satchel. Take it!"
"Fine," you say, walking towards the satchel.
"No! Trick!" Boba whines.
> You keep your distance to the princess.
You turn to the princess.
"Wait," you say.
You take a step towards the princess, but that's all the time she needs. With a squeal, she fires her pistol.
> You try to evade the shot.
You duck, but the bullet misses you narrowly. You roll on the ground behind an oak tree and quickly raise your own pistol to fire back.
The princess turns and runs.
> You aim at the princess' leg and shoot.
You aim your pistol and shoot.
Your shot hits the princess right in front of her left knee, sending a spray of blood from her pant leg. The impact also knocks her to the ground.
> You reload your pistol and try to shoot another shot at the princess.
You quickly load your pistol as you aim at the princess.
She stands and tries to run again.
You aim at her legs as she runs past.
> You shoot at her right knee.
You shoot your pistol.
Your shot hits the princess right in front of her left knee, which she sprays with blood again. The impact also knocks her to the ground.

I started off in a post-apocalyptic world as a survivor.. then it turned into a zombie story and then I got beaten up by some angry men and sent to a hospital and all of a sudden I have a son and he dies in the hospital and one of my friends crashed a helicopter and burned to death... then I left the hospital and left in a taxi...
10/10, such an emotional piece.
