Alright buddies, here you go… I’ve been a beer drinker forever but trying to cut back in the calories. My buddy is a bourbon drinker and has been telling me about different ones. So, I go to the liquor store and pick out every bourbon in shots that you can imagine, 12. So after that I decided to try Eagle Rare, $50, because you can’t get it in a small bottle/shot and I really liked it. After drinking almost the entire bottle with my wife, the next day I’m thinking $50 damn so I decided to try wild turkey 101 for half the price. Wild turkey smells sweeter and taste better hands down and a hell of alot cheaper. How do i know, because I’m drinking it side by side. I have decided that the high price bourbon’s are bullshit and are just trying to make money. It’s a scam like the media. Stop falling for the bullshit 😉
i have same problem. Whiskey buying problem :D haven't tried eagle rare, cause i cant find it. Wild turkey 101 is awesome bourbon for price. Thanks for video.
Haha, yes buying bottles is a problem for many! Hopefully you can get your hands on an Eagle Rare soon! I know some really don't rate it because it can be quite subtle, but for me that's where it's really quite impressive, so much flavour without being over-powering. Cheers!
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Evan Williams Bottled in Bond (White Label). It's a dirt cheap ($17) bottom shelf bourbon that people either love or hate. I think it punches well above its weight for a budget bourbon, but I'd like to see your input.
I always seem to get Cola notes from the ER. 90% of my Bourbon is taken neat but the WT101 is the best bourbon on a rock or 2, the flavours really hold up and it’s absolutely delicious whereas other bourbons get ruined with ice imo. Have you tried Woodford Double Oaked ? Now that’s a fantastic desert style bourbon full of flavour 👌🏼🥃
Ah interesting! I wonder if some of that slightly medicinal note is actually similar to CO2 taste that you get in cola. I shall re-asses for sure! And I'll deffo try the WT on the rocks. Likewise I do most neat but there's a time and a place for a cooled down sipper. I actually got a delivery of the Woodford Double Oaked last week so a video on that coming in the near future! Probably comparing to the OG Woodford, unless you think there's something else I should pitch it against?
Woohoo ! The Woodford Reserve has just gone off special offer at Tesco (from the amazingly cheap price of £27 it's now back to its standard £37 price) and I was hoping (and praying) that they would drop the price on the Eagle Rare ! Well this morning I had a squint at the website and they have reduced the price of ER by a fiver (now just £32.50) till the 22/4/24, so I'll be adding that to my collection ASAP ! I personally think that all bourbon tastes so much better when you get it a few quid cheaper than it's standard price, lol 🤣
I was reading this with a sense of déjà vu - then I realised you'd posted something very similar on BBS! But yeah that's a cracking deal. If I hadn't just been on a slightly OTT whisky hunting trip in Scotland I'd be all over it but I need to find some more storage space now 😅
I had the 3rd pour out of my Eagle Rare last night and I'm now going to give it to a friend of mine. To me, it's very bland and just doesn't have much of a flavor.
Haha - of course it's all personal preference! But, I will say, I probably change my mind between the two every week. 101 is UNBEATABLE for the price. ER has a touch more sophistication, but that's not always what you want! Cheers!

I guess I'd side with Eagle Rare, but I do love Wild Turkey 101.
Yeah it is super close for me! Both great in their own way. Cheers!

I'll try and get some, very rarely see it here. It is available on Amazon at £40 which is over $50!
@@TheCrumbyBeard As much as I enjoy it, it is simply NOT worth it at that price (wish I could send you some from the states!)
@@ConcealedCarrier yeah I thought that might be the case. If I see it on offer any time I’ll pick one up!

@@TheCrumbyBeard it’s beautiful after a BBQ next to the Firepit. The colour is incredible for 43%

101 no question eddy is the man
Hard call for me, but I will say in terms of value for money WT101 is the king.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, 101 is so much better 😎🤑
