- I meet up with my good buddy, Andrew, to go after burbot and walleye. The upper Columbia River (Lake Roosevelt) has a plethora of both burbot and walleye so it is always a great destination to go fishing. We caught so many fish that it is nearly impossible to show them all without having an extremely long video. So, I show you the highlight catches and moments of this epic fishing trip.

I made sure it was in there :)
lol thats awesome haha happy belated
that was money!
I'd definitely recommend using Butter versus Margarine. Cheers.
Very very informative! Video! Awesome to the point, no swesr words every 5 seconds, lol thanku for showing us,. Try olive oil.
" I'm trying to eat more healthy. I know I'm eating a lot of butter with it, but that's besides piont".... hahaha
I’m pretty sure I spotted a Micky D’s bag and Mountain Dew can in the car. 😂
Fished the Columbia from Portland to LePage park but never caught one of those, smallmouth is my game!
I was up there but fishing spring canyon and got 2 real nice triploids
It’s really calm out there! I used to drive semi through there all the time. Beautiful drive but it can get really windy.
The water bottles literally got me lol
Awesome video man, keep it up. You inspired me to make my youtube channel. Lots of love from Texas.
I enjoy watching the video the fishing looked like you were having lots of fun. The cooking part was simple but looked delicious so great job can't wait for the next video.
Walleye are some of the best tasting fish I have ever eaten.
Try a burbot. That fish will instantly rise to the top of your list. 😋
Make a chowder out of the burbot. Excellent eating.
Beautiful view nice catch and cook 👍
Everything tastes better with butter!! Another highly enjoyable video dude!!
yeeeeee BOYYYY!!!!!! MAN I GOTTA START COOKING MY CATCH TOO! Lol! Love it Samong!
Great video Sam !! thanks for sharing . Looking forward to more videos like this one , looked like a fun time on the water with friends. 💗🎣👍
Never tried them. Alot of people from just across the river where you had lunch catch them and love to eat them. Guess I will have to try. Awesome video.
Those are some cool looking, good eating, deep water fish. Thanks again for sharing your outdoor adventures with us all. Gods speed to Samong Yang outdoors crew and families. 👍🇺🇸
Is that porcupine Bay?
Samong, there is an actual fish-cleaning station in the Hunters campground that you could have used; or, at least, there was one there in 1989. Living in that campground and doing maintenance on facilities at Hunters, Cloverleaf and Gifford on a Summer seasonal appointment was my first position working for the federal government after nearly two decades of self-employment. (I had gotten to the point where I figured: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! I'm not proud of caving, but I don't regret the decision either. It was a pretty relaxing season compared to managing a one-man retail operation.)
Samong, you use to always pray before you eat and that was a very special part of you. We wanna see you pray. It’s very inspirational.
We? Lmfao fucking what XD XD
i dont know if you know where enumclaw is but i live about 2 hours or so away from you
Samong, a few points; #1 I appreciate your eye for videography... which results in #2, how blessed we are to live in Eastern Washington and # 3, it has been disproved that saturated fats are bad for you. In fact, research is now showing that "fat free" may be one primary cause for the rise in Alzheimer's Disease. Our brains alone are nearly 40% saturated fat. Enjoy your butter (one of the healthiest fats humans ingest! 'Nuther GREAT video!!
Very instructive! Them some nice burnouts. Thanks!
awsome creatures buddy
I look forward to your videos!
Great video and this makes me want a boat even more than I already do!! Growing up close to the Columbia, I never tried for burbot. I plan on taking my son out soon for them but will doing it from shore. Hopefully it will result in some tight lines! It is crazy to see a deer crossing the river. That is one heck of a swim!
Saw a few big burbs come out of Davis and Bead lakes. Good eating slimey things for sure. Fish on all!
Those walleyes are small and I'm in the Midwest like you said lol...I'm hooked watching your videos now brother!!
Just recently started watching your videos and im going fishing on the columbia river by tri cities soon. Love the new vid!
You should do a cougar and small game hunt. 👍
Excellent video as always, Never tried burbot personally but am anxious to try. Everyone says it’s delicious.
Thanks for another great video bro :)
i wish i can go too
Just got the miss and I new jigging setups for walleye/burbot.
Cant wait to show her this video.
Caught my first burbot tonight; couldn't have been more than 25 feet of water. Looking forward to tasting... it was a midnight fishing adventure, so it will be breakfast.
Fun stuff bud
man that looks good!
Those fish reminds me of pickerels here in the northeast, people really hate them for their slime and bones but theres a video on here that shows how to get 5 boneless filets out of them. Good eats!
Peoples just gotta understand that its different from state to state and regulations cant be applied to all states whether its hunting or fishing or even living life. Anyways, keep it up!!! Tight lines and stay safe!!!
Love fishing out here home waters literally I live 2 minutes from the water and 5 minutes boat ride to that spot walleye and burbot are great
420th like ;) cheers from TACOMA bro haha
Those burbot are beautiful.
Man, I would love to come to Washington and hunt elk with you
Interesting, never had it.👍
Boil the meat in water or 7up soda then drizzle the butter over, trust me you’ll get the most lobster resemblance taste and texture out of it. It’ll change your mind on it being like tilapia.
15:20 would be so cool to experience! your lucky to see that!
Thanks for content man! Always appreciated!!
Okay, im going to go ahead and smash that subscribe button ✅. I'm really liking the quality and content of your videos.
Another great vid thanx!
I bought a fish cleaning mat last year finally.. Game changer! I'd highly recommend one if you don't own already brother! Keep up the good content 👍
Great stuff! Came from Northwest’s channel. Great episode you found filmed together
Where are you fishing at on the Columbia
I think he's south of kettle Falls. I'm trying to figure it out too.
@@johnglover8419 I think he said FDR in the video so I think its Lake Roosevelt somewhere. Hella walleye up in that lake apparently!
Hunters?
Good ole Lake Roosevelt!
Great video man, I was wondering about depths for winter burbot, compared to summer/fall. Seems similar, I know they come in shallower for the winter spawn but wasn't sure how effective the deeper water was in the winter. Answered my question, Thanks for that bit.✌️🐟😎
i wanna go
cant belive i didnt find these sooner i am right by the lake
Man! Your reel is too noisy!!!!!
The line bearing ( or pick up bearing) needs replacement and lubrication ...
I think it's the braided line that is causing that noise. I've noticed it that when there is a decent amount of tension on the line, it makes that sound.
You guys ever try just bait for burbot?
Awesome video !!!
What month is this, that the rivers frozen ?
This was at the end of February. We've never seen the Columbia have ice like that before!
If you ever want to do a video on walleye on potholes let me know right lines
Missing jeow and chopsticks
How fast y'all trolling? I usually just roll with the current.
25:09 I can be the only one that took in a deep breath 😑
Great vid! If you’re interested, we’d like to take ya fishing in our boat.
I only caught Burbots at night shore fishing up at Lake Roosevelt. If I want to catch them at daytime, you think Spokane arm would be a good starting point?
I heard they spawn in the arm, similar to walleye
@@anonymouse7074 Thank You
Those are one of my most favorite to eat fish. Only catch them ice fishing though. We also call them lawyer, I think because their heart is way back near their butt hole
What! No onion?
Why don't the wildlife management up the limit for a certain period of time in order to alleviate the problem
Makes sense to me
!
28:00 What about the belly meat, do not clean your burbot this way. Skin it , removes fins, trim off meat including the belly triangle.
Where are you located ? Are there any rv camp sites there?
We're on Lake Roosevelt. There are many, many campsites along Lake Roosevelt!
Imperial margarine is not butter. Real butter isn't bad for you.
Can you find burbot at cheekelus lake?
I don't know. I've never fished or heard of that lake before.
Kacheelus? (snoqualmie pass)
I believe they are in both Kachess and Kacheelus near snoqualmie pass
So did you get a spring bear tag or what?
No luck on the draw.
Well that just stinks.
Was hoping to see spring bear hunt vid.
What depth at this time of year?
We were catching fish anywhere between 40-140ft.
The other 2 dudes don’t look friendly at all. ESP the guy next to you. He was prob annoyed and jealous
There is not to many fish in there…. I live on the river you launched at Bradbury beach. Your fishing in 130 ft of water yeah there gonna be baby walleye there always baby’s down deep
Q1
The guy next to you seems like he did not want to be in the video.
I thought he seemed jealous 😂
Some people just don’t feel comfortable on camera too so there’s no telling what’s up with him
Haha, he's just chilling.
search out how to clean. this is not completely right. its not bad.. but
I would so love to be able to catch all kinds of fish from the ocean but fish are contaminated by mercury, microplastics, pcb, and dioxin, cancer causing and IQ lowering toxins.
Industry ruined our fresh waterways and oceans, it’s such a damn shame.
WA state has guidelines for the consumption of walleye caught out of Lk. Roosevelt, due to contaminates from Teck Metals in B.C.. They dumped millions of tons of slag into the Columbia River in the 1900’s. This slag contained arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, mercury, and zinc. They have done extensive cleanup since then, and the company was ordered to pay.
watch out for so much aluminum cooking. may not be good for you
Opening shots gave me seizures
Sorry haha
